    I remember watching that Hull goal in ‘99 and it being a very big deal when it happened. The ‘player in the crease’ rule was such a strict rule in those years, yet the call was missed in such an important game. The NHL changed the ‘player in the crease’ rule starting the next season because of the controversy.

  • @kriskrystyniak5643
    @kriskrystyniak56439 ай бұрын

    Being originally from Buffalo, I watched that game intensely . The biggest thing about the game was not JUST the foot in the crease but the no review call. It was the finals and the game went into the next morning due to it being a tie and they had review after review, and added period after period. (No penalty shots at that time.) Hours later came the foot in the crease shot and, what upset every Sabre fan really was--NOW they don’t do a review!??!? It was a total “we gotta finish this game somehow” thing and they rushed out the big red carpet and Stanley Cup so fast it just shocked everyone-even the arena fans. No review after all the other “questionable “ calls (on both sides) were done. The officials missed THE most important review just to finish the game. I really blame the hockey commissioner for rushing the ceremony just to be done with the very long game and season. Still don’t like Dallas or commissioner Gary. What a jerk.

    Hey, just watched all your hockey videos and I’m disappointed you don’t have more. Your quality and content is great. Even checked out your gaming page and enjoyed that too. I think it was SB Nation that turned me to you and I can’t complain. Was really surprised to notice you don’t have many subs. Keep it up, I really enjoy it. Your history of forward passing was pretty great and stuff I didn’t know or had seen anywhere else. I’d love to see a follow up to your stuff thrown on ice video only because I’m a detroit fan and Nashville throwing the catfish was apparently to make fun of us, so I hear, and was hoping you were going to mention it. And as a detroit fan I believe my team has contributed more to hockey and the nhl than any other team in the league so you should totally do a video on that. Quick example. The players association wouldn’t exist without Ted Lindsay of your Detroit Red Wings. #7 Anyways. Keep it up and I’m looking forward to your next one.

    You missed one of the major missed calls of NHL history: Mike Bossy's missed offside call in the 1980 finals against the Flyers. Bossy received a pass while offside and scores the game winning goal. NHL and referees admitted years after that they had missed that call.

    For the Rocket, you loved him if you were a Canadiens fan, or you hated him if you weren't. There was actually an attempt by the Toronto Maple Leafs to acquire him, but that was unsuccessful. As for this incident, it cost Rocket the chance he had at winning an NHL scoring championship, which he was leading at the time of his suspension. Fellow Canadiens teammate Bernie "Boom Boom" would edge him out by one point on the last game of the regular season to become the league scoring champion.

    I think they should put cameras on the ice, so plays can be reviewed, and at the VERY LEAST, they should HIGHLIGHT the puck so it's easier to see. (It's VERY EASY to lose track of the puck during the game.)

    2004 game 7 Tampa bay vs calgary Flames. Game tied 3/3. Last minutes flames scored but refs called it back saying the puck didn’t cross the line. It did. Took years before the nhl admitted that it did cross the line. Cost the Flames the Cup that year. Bad, very, very bad call.

    Personally I feel the 1st one wasn’t really an issue I get how it might be controversial but all I’m saying is that the dude didn’t cup his hand over the puck (so that’s is not considered a hand pass) and it wasn’t directly to him more the player just swatted it away from his face and the defence could have picked up the puck

    How about this controversial call: I think it’s 2000 or 2001 Stanley cup finals and Scott Steven’s tries to end Paul kariya’s career on the ducks home ice. Kariya passes the puck to his left wing and turns his head towards the same winger. About 4 seconds after the pass Scott Steven’s lays a massive hit on kariya as kariya was looking the other way. It was one of the dirtiest plays in the history of the Stanley cup finals and hockey itself. He clearly hit him while he didn’t have the puck and was looking the opposite direction and he did not even get a penalty. The ducks should have been playing the devils minus Scott Steven’s for at the minimum two games, the maximum five games in my opinion. If Steven’s is gone the ducks win their first championship the way the team and especially giguere was playing. But that play will forever go down in history because Steven’s thought he knocked him out for good, but kariya comes back and actually plays. The best part is he shoots a slap shot and beats Martin Brodeur a few minutes after the hit, classic moment. Check it out
