My number one co angler bait would be a Zoom finesse worm wacky rigged and instead of a steady retrieve like most people do, give it a couple pops at a time and mix it up, 2 pops pause 4 pops pause etc

Chuck Mitchell Brownsburg, IN first year out here as a co-angler 18 guys in the club half way thru the year I'm #18 with no yup 0 keepers. Your right, up here it is so tough to fish, But the old-timers in the club who talk about years ago young Jacob Wheeler would be at the docks asking to jump on there boats love the story's and very proud of you, I'm 60 from New England so I'm an old timer but learning new technics from you and determined! My confidence level right now very low, but watching your video's and following you MLF , Tick-tok , face book and also following your Farther gives me a lot of inspiration Thank You Jacob have a blessed day I'm heading out to do some finesse fishing at a local retention pond right now ...

A fluke be it weightless or on a weighted swimbait hook, fished like a slow jerkbait is always great and typically something different than the pro is throwing. I've caught a many bass on weighted flukes in deep water. It's great at coming through cover, cast a long ways and can be great for pressured bass.

Excellent choice. I used a Fluke on the Mississippi River around pads when my boater was using a frog. We were both catching them with the 2 different techniques

Nice tips! I struggle cause I fish against the guys in front of the boat and behind. It’s our club deal. I find something working for me and they change to what I’m catching them on, then just like that my bite is gone for me.

Wondering if you could do a video on which rods and reels you use for different baits. Spinnerbaits vs crank bait vs swim-baits etc. reel gear ratios and such.

Thank you for this...It can be hard sometimes to explain to people who want to co-angle, and not just in smaller tournaments, but in the MLF/FLW Bassmaster Opens it's a totally different animal. So...Thank you again for not only showing baits, but explain that your position, and Targeting (That will call for different baits, tackle, and yes even line.) will be different I'd say 85-90% of the time, also don't be afraid to watch your Pro partner, and don't forget your strengths, also Study study study, try to know your water, watch your weather, and Remember patience.

As a co-angler what I found works well is if the pro on the front is throwing topwater I follow him up with a slow sink finess but if he is finess fishing then I throw a reaction so we don't compete over bites we generate bites for each other

  • @ddwindowworks

AWESOME vid, but I would like to talk about a top water bait that a lot of people over look and can be fished in any kind of water.. It is a Rage Tail rage shad.. Your can Texas rig it with no weight and throws water like a buzz bait but can also be used in vegetation.. Cheap if ya lose it all it costs is a Texas rig hook and another bait..Wondering if you have ever tried then JW?

Jacob I love all those bait’s man! I’m currently fishing in the BFL’S & Toyota Series as a CoAngler and it’s tuff dude, straight up man! I’ve been lucky enough to have been paired up with some true hammer’s brother(“Thanks To MLF”) and I have learned A LOT more than what I thought I knew about fishing. Bassmasters’s Elites, MLF Pro’s , and everyday Joe’s, and by far it is tuff! Not complaining but it’s come to my mindset that I’m competing against all the other CoAnglers and I’m competing against my boater for bite’s and the better the boater of course the harder it is to get a bite! Prime example man “David G. Williams” great angler!!!! Won the tournament by far and I was just lucky enough to have even cought fish behind that Professional Vaccum cleaner, Lol……. Yes I know it’s a learning experience for me 10 fold and I love the experience and I feel like I am becoming a better angler fishing with some of the best fisherman in our sport. Much respect Jacob love you and everything you represent for the MLF , and all the other Pro’s out their man! God bless you and your family man. Hope to see you out on the trail one day!

Me and my brother fish casually and are switching front and back of the boat 50% of the time. There’s only a few things I don’t like to throw from the back. Jerk bait, weightless senko, drop shot. I feel the drag of the boat moving away from the bait makes them look unnatural and I don’t do well
