Yes, it somewhat homogenizes the cast, but theres no good balance without some sort of homogenization, and in my experience people always cry about lacking tools in their characters. With the system everyone has every tool they need + the sauce from their character. I dont see how this is not an optimal way to balance a game

Actually Ken is either average or solid this season, considering Tokido won BAM in Australia and Phenom made the top 4 place at Dreamhack Dallas. Both Ken has qualified for the EWC in Saudia. I have to disagree on the notion of Ken being a top 5 again due to the first season which a few characters has carried a lot of players into the upper echelon such as Mena and Angrybird. This season the top players has to bring their skills and talents in order to reach the high altitude of being the best player in the world. Luke and Ken probably be in the top 10 range, even though they've made an incredible showing at both EWC qualifier but that's just the players, not the characters. Chris Wong, Zhen, Problem X, Phenom and Mena are struggling with their matches due to the current balance patch just by looking at their recent tournament placing. Let's wait and see at EV02024 in August. My prediction on the top 10 characters would be: 1-Rashid 2-Ed 3-Guile 4-Juri 5-Akuma 6-Ken 7-Luke 8-Blanka 9-DeeJay 10-Chun Li

@@DD01880 Ken on 6th is still top tier, average is around 10th to 15th. But undoubtedly Ken is outside of top 5, even pros that are non Ken players have already been placing him outside of top 5 before the balance patch. With the introduction of Akuma and massive AKI buffs, there is no way Ken can climb his way back into top5.

I feel what's interesting is that when it comes to talking about who's the top 5 characters in SF6 now, people/players would tend to give different answers on who's up there (Guile, Blanka, Dee Jay, Cammy, etc). However I will say I do see some repeated characters when being brought up which are most likely top 3 are Akuma, Luke & Rashid in any order.

My choices: Makoto, Sean, Dudley, Elena, a Rival Schools character (I'd go with either Roy or Tiffany).

Regarding Akuma training, I have found that going into Heaven & Hell in the Extreme Battle mode has helped with their points about adjusting my play style to the characteristics of each round far beyond who is the opponent.

Why do yall keep trying to up-play Chun? She doesn't have ANY major tournament wins as far as i know. It's almost like yall want her nerfed more. That goes for all SF content creators. As a Chun main I don't like it. 😒🤣

Also for top 5 returning characters I think would possibly see returning is. Note: This is not a wishlist but a guess list as I'm not just picking obvious popular picks. 1. Vega(SFII) - stance - Spanish ninjitsu - Spain 2. Adon(SF) - rushdown - muay thai - Thailand 3. Elena(SFIII) - footsie - capoeira - Kenya 4. Hakan(SFIV) - grappler - Turkish oil wrestling - Turkey 5. Menat(SFV) - trapper - soul power - Egypt

I think overall this season will be more balanced, and will have a little bit more variety of characters winning/doing well I think.

I'm glad Capcom ignored the nonsense narrative that grapplers shouldn't be good because then the game will be bad. Zangief is so fun this season and he has so much sauce now!

Akuma learning curve high? Oh c´mon, when I started playing it took me like a month to get Jamie or Dhalsim to Platinum (I wanted to take all characters to platinum or Diamond in order to "learn" the game). You press forward + buttons with Akuma and boom, you're in Diamond lmao

The game kind of starts all over again at master, like you climbed to the top of the ladder and you realise there's a whole'nother ladder. I think at these guys level, and a level of what a lot of the subscribers who are listening, they are referring to the master level meta.

Yes, for reference, I placed into relatively high Diamond with Akuma and got him to Master about a day later. It's all relative for sure, and he DOES have a legacy approach that people who've played him in other games can definitely pick up and understand quickly. But getting into the kind of ability that's gonna take you into higher MR ranks and Legend status is more what we're talking about here.

I feel a bit of option paralysis with Akuma honestly. There’s a lot to learn about how to structure your offense and he has so many tools to use that it’s difficult to master them all without some time. And if you fuck up once you are now playing in the yellow zone. In a strong players hands I can see how he is going to be a terror, but until you get to that level, the low life is a serious tradeoff.

She's been top 5 for a while I don't know what kind of delusion people have been living in. Most people just don't take the time to do proper extensive research and collect all the data they possibly can to inform their opinions. Thats why most of them don't have a clue what their talking about.

Dismissing the health thing as not that big a deal is a bad take. It absolutely matters, even more than its ever have in SF6 due to the systems in play, and how you can often die from 2-3 interactions in a round, which is even more common the higher rank you are. Zangief for instance can easily win in 2 interactions with Akuma. Akuma has a lot of tools, but making the wrong call and getting punish countered is very easy to do, and not always down to skill but luck, and with that punish counter comes more damage, and that's magnified with Akuma's HP. I think he's good and somewhere near the top of the tier list, but IDK if he's top 5. Its hard to say so early. Again, his kit is good, but the low HP and highly punishable aspects of his kit make it so he only really gets a couple chances a round to make something happen. Too volitile and inconsistent to be top 3 IMO.

I low key hope they continue the tradition of giving them home stages per DLC fighter. Makes our money worth the buy! Kenya stage for Elena in World Tour mode will be brilliant!

All of the shotos seem really good in season 2. I'd go Ryu, Ken, Akuma, Juri, Aki. Luke needs to watch his drive meter more now.

Akuma has a some bad matchups Dee Jay and Gief especially.

For lore reasons i would love to see how oro,g,gill and the sf6 cast interact with each other but besides that the character's i would love to see this time is 1. dudley 2. Makoto 3. Laura 4. Sakura If they do 5 this time easily Rose for me

I got my money on them giving us at least one new character per season. It might be an AKI or Lily like - a new take on an old style. But I think we get at least one new face. I think Sakura is this seasons Akuma. The big name at the end of the season could also be Bison though. I think Sakura has far bigger draw than Bison, but they might want to stick with the boss character for the final character theme.

For any character, some of the stuff you say is true, but I would add one extra thing probably the most important is the ability of each player. I don’t mean mentally either but even as myself playing the game I’m realizing my hands don’t move as quick as they wanted, my reflexes are not quite as good as good as I was earlier. I’m 45 now and I do notice stiffness because I do a lot of physical labor work, but that’s the point I’m getting to there’s a lot of variables beyond streetfighter itself that will dictate how people were approach any character but this one. From what I do with him, I find middle ground in my approach meter responsible to meter use situational. That’s probably how I gauge my use case with a as of now not necessarily trying to cash out every combo but when the time arises and I can get maximum damage for least amount of meter I definitely do so when there’s least amount of risk. That’s my balance at least.

I agree with top 5. However tbh. I think sf6 is soo balanced being top 5 doesnt matter because theres no huge deficient on why a character is top unlike last seasons and previous games. You can win with ANY character given the right reads, lucky match up, and dedication.

The Chun gameplay in this video is ridiculous

Ken definitely had a stealth approach into Season 2. The downplay was apparently really effective at preventing him from taking any real hits to his most problematic elements.

most people said ken was not top 3. no ones saying he is not top 5 or 10 like people are exaggerating. characters like rashid and chun or deejay can be put above ken in season 1 so how is that down playing when you know for a fact luke and JP was at the top.

Learned from bryan f. The demon flip to cancel after tastu/sweep is also safe. Great for baiting dp more than normal safe jump

The learning curve should not be a factor if a char is weak or strong...

This channel is so hellbent on putting Ken in top 3 lol when pros all over the world that are non Ken players have consistently put him in outside of top 3 or even top 5 even before the S2 patch. Since AB winning Evo, has there been another Ken winning a major tournament? People tend to forget that Ken has the highest player base, which is why there is more of him appearing in Master rank and tournament. But at the highest level he isn't that strong. Don't get me wrong, Ken is still top tier, easily top 10 or top 8 but definitely not top 3. The top 2 right now is undoubtedly Luke, Akuma and the 3rd spot is contested by AKI, Chun, Guile, Rashid and Blanka imo.

Ngl kinda disappointed in how nothing really changed for mid to low tier characters in this patch. They got a few cool changes but nothing to really push the needle.

Chun li is hard to use, and they messed up her hanzanshu so much it's kinda useless now as they are reactable now. Cammy should be in the top 5 instead of chun, definitely. Also, zangief should be in the top 5, too, with all the crazy buffs he received by crapcom. His damage and grab range is ridiculous now.

I'd like to see in Season 2: • Sagat • Fei Long • Edi E (from Final Fight 1) • C Viper • Sean • Dudley They've said that we'll all be "huh?" with their S2 reveal, so unfortunately that means the characters will be shite and none of the above 😔

Using tokidos ken result in the AUS tournament as a reason to rank him top 3 isn’t right. Its tokido thats why. The 2nd place was a modern Ed what does that mean? So tokido playing ken means he is good but the player is way better especially if the 2nd place is a modern ed

I can easily tell who the top 5 worst characters are now. Kapkom simply drove a steamroller across JP. When other top tiers received small nerfs that don’t really change anything except damage. And even got some buffs like Ken and Juri. Then JP was nerfed at literally all levels of the game. From anti-air and footsies, to juggles and setups. Haters who don't want to learn how to play have achieved their goal. Now enjoy "honest" characters with millions of neutral skips and hit/throw casinos.

dont honestly agree with these. id put Luke, DJ, Guile, Chun, Ken is the top 5 in no order and Akuma 6th tbh. Think long term that health is going to be an issue and people are going to realize as people get better, lower health is BIG DEAL in a game where execution is easy, and its practically almost a two touch game now. Damage isnt getting any lower lol

This is how you tell Eventhubs is a joke. ProblemX and Menard literally reaching and winning so many finals between them and Gachikun the only one doing work with Rashid and apparently the former is never top 5 while the latter is. Absolutely bias here.

It certainly seems like they’re going with the formula (for now) of Akuma vs Ryu taking center stage and Ken getting down-tuned to be just a bit behind them in the direct matchup. Ryu’s heavy damage gives Akuma players very little margin for error while Ken’s lower damage gives them a lot more latitude. We’re going to see what happens as everyone feels out Akuma both when using and playing against.

I don’t think you can really have a top 5 (at least yet) because there are at least 10 characters on par with each other and interchangeable. So I will pick under radar/dark horse picks. In no particular order: Juri, Ed, AKI, Gief, Blanka

@checkmate8849 They've said before "they're working on it". Which I appreciated. But that was months ago so I feel its fair to bring it up again. My assumption is that its more of a network issue than a lack of camera. I dunno where Stephen is based, but a lot of the US has absolutely shit WiFi, so maybe that's his problem. Whatever the reason is, its defo making them look unprofessional and no doubt will hurt views and engagement.

Not having Ken here is an absolute joke. Also Zangief is no where close to top 5. People just keep saying complete BS without having the proper data and research to back it up. 😂

The players who win major tournaments win because of themselves and not the character they pick. If those same players chose to use other top 15 characters instead of the main they currently use they would still win. So this proof that a character is top 5 based on a player winning with that character isn’t a viable argument and low key an insult to the player.

I haven't watched the clip yet, but I'd probably agree in a way. Obvs, he's a shoto, so of course you can get the basics down in day 1. In that sense he's easy. But when people say he has a high learning curve, I think they're referring to the fact that he has an insane amount of tools so he probably would be hard to become an expert in

After doing proper extensive research by both watching and collecting data through the entire competitive history of SF6 I found that so far the games meta has been very boring and stale. The absolute joke of a patch Capcom did after a whole dam year of waiting did nothing to actually fix many issues that are still present in the game. I anticipate this will remain largely the same this season unless Capcom does much more frequent substantial patches this season to fix the system mechanical issues that are still present which will continue to screw up the games overall balance. They could have easily addressed these issues with the universal mechanics and individual characters in the patch but for the most part did nothing substantial to actually fix any of these things. They seem to be happy with just focusing on other scummy tactics to nickel and dime their blind players so they can keep exploiting them in other ways without actually improving their game in any meaningful way. Whats more sad is this has become the model for most other modern FG's. It's only going to get worse going into the future unless the players themselves wake up and start using their voice and their wallets to make sure these companies don't get away with this cheap BS. Knowing all this has made me glad I didn't waste my money on this game. People may think Crapcom is gone but its still there just in more subtle scummy ways.

So people are still overrating Ken, interesting.

Yeah he's mid at best. Especially now that we got akuma, that matchup like at least 7-3

I would say I don't agree, but we all got different opinions and that's cool. I appreciate you guys sharing your opinion in a constructive way. IMO he still has good tools and side switch is still REAL good. But Akuma does fill the supreme shoto niche.

@@TaruWRX yeah that's how I feel about it. Ken ain't bad, overrated because how popular he is a little. But yeah with akuma existing and ryu buffs? No way I see him in top 5.
