I own a shield and got a new TV decided to buy the apple TV 4k latest generation the UI is great and the picture looks great the only issue and which I started reading up on when I noticed my unit was having this issue of flickering in dark scenes or areas of the screen I tried everything to fix it. Just get the shield pro or another streaming device.

I've got the shield pro for the living room about 3 years ago. I still love it. I was able to reprogram the Netflix button to open Prime instead..

Consider this a topic suggestion. One of my frustrations with Android TV streaming devices is the dead end when it comes to version upgrades. Aside from possibly Google TV streaming devises, which brand that uses either Google TV or Android TV keeps up with version upgrades?

Do not but Nvidia I bought it broke in 5 moths didn't have warranty
I have Amazon fire stick but thinking about returning & trying ROKU

I have both and the Roku is kinda clunky in comparison. The fire stick has the ability to get side loaded apps. and seems quicker overall.

I have both and hardly ever use firestick. I have more issues with fire stick.

@@greenspiraldragon ...I guess everybody has issues. I have a Nvidia Shield that hangs up trying to start Netflix and I have to reboot the Shield almost every time, and that's supposed to be the best. AppleTV is as good I'd say, but no side loading.
The Xiaomi Mi Box S is really garbage, so why is it even in the list. A laptop from 2003, works better

Subscription for what? Apple tv+ is what requires a subscription...but the device itself does not.
