As someone who grew up playing basketball in the 90s, there's a reason for that stiff carbon fiber shank plate in the 11, 12 and 13. It keeps your foot from OVERflexing, which when you try to bend the shoe with your hands, it's gonna feel like a brick. But figure your bodyweight on it, even a smaller guy like you, running at speed, jumping, cutting, that puts a literal ton of force on your shoes. Seriously, look at what happened to Zion Williamson last year. That would not happen in a tougher, leather shoe with a reasonable shank and supportive design. Zion should be wearing Lebrons, not the PG shoes he was wearing. Maybe the Jordan 34 was built with him in mind with that flightplate shank system.

I completely agree with your number 1... I love playing in the 13s

I always liked the 5's and 6's for playing in, but the 11's are probably better for me. Very comfortable. Aesthetics, always the IV. It was my dream shoe as a kid and it still holds that spot even though they're literally on my feet. Personally I didn't like anything after 11. They're no doubt better quality than the early Js, with better tech, but they all just seem so boot-like and clunky. I know it's probably silliness to most people, but I'm not a fan of Zoom air. I know, I know. I just don't like the feel. Overall for performance and aesthetics combined I'd go with 11s (Dec 11, we got a Cool Grey drop!). On the court and on the street they are just stunners and go with a wide array of fashion. Still though, I'd like to go with IVs every time even though they're played out fashion-wise and aren't the most comfortable to play in because of the old tech. Infrared, Cement or Military Blue if you please.

@nellek970 sometimes you have to take what you can get. I got a pair of the "Radio Raheems." Definitely not symbolically the right color for a white guy. I didn't know anything about "Do The Right Thing" til way after I got them. But be that as it may, I stand by that they're possibly the best of the early Air Jordans (1-6) to actually play in. Even if you can't get an OG colorway, get A pair. They're worth it.

@nellek970 for the casual Hooper, Flyknit is probably best. No break in, and they don't lose their shape like full grain leather. However, I agree with you. If I'm actually playing ball, even if it's casual, I'd much rather have something Foamposite or leather. Back when I played a lot (a few...few years back), my shoes that i used for several years were Lebron 4s. And in high school, leather Reeboks. Now, I'll play in any number of leather retro Js that still ball.

I love some of the newer Jordan's like the 34,35 and 36 for playing in, I know they're not retros but they are great for court performance, the 34s are pretty good for outside courts.My top 3 favorite retros for playing in would be the 13's,11's and 5's... If I'm doing a top 5 the 8 and 14 are included

Those Indiglo 14's bring me back. That was the first pair of Jordan's I ever bought.

I just love how Jordan's are perfectly fit for any sport just perfection.

The Jordan 1 is my favorite ngl especially outside because the traction is crazy good. I like the hard rubber and tbh traction is the most important for me when it comes to shoes. Also I have flat feet so they don’t hurt my feet at all.

Just coming across this one (only recently sub’d this year so I’m going back through the SoleBrothers catalog to watch previous videos). Of the retros to ball in I’m going with the 13. Doubled up on the black flints which is what I now wear on the driveway court and while practicing with my daughter at the gym. It’s also a lifestyle shoe for me, so there won’t be a shortage of 13s in my lineup ☝🏾

Yeah. I buy sneakers from those guys. They buy them, never wear them and then I get them when they get bored of them. I do keep the boxes for if I ever want to sell them. They would crap themselves if they knew how much I wear them. The only ones I don't wear outside are my Flu Game 12s. Only in the gym.

Hopefully Jordan makes Jordan By You so we can make our own.

the top 2 shoes are also my favorite very comfortable and it really has good traction.

I loved the 9s back in 1995 when I was a So. in HS. The 6s were great for my 8th grade season in 1992 (even though the 7s were out by then.)

It was the last time he wore the shoes, when he decided to use it one more time on MSG. To that point the Jordan brand was already in the 13-15 range of shoes, so his feet were used to the better technology. He wore the Jordan 1s for the entire 1984-85 season, he would be insane if he had bleeding feet since the first game and decided to go with the shoe for the 82 games

The Jordan True Flights are my favorite for balling as well as the 6s Edit: I got some Air Jordan 4s last year and for me I'd say they're better indoors instead of outdoors. I also got the Concord 11s and they're good on both indoor and outdoor but I'd rather use them for indoor balling. I've also played in the 12s indoor mostly and I'd say they're pretty nice.

I'd love to get another pair of 11's (Concord) the only thing that makes me not get them is the soles are going to turn yellow decently quick, and just my opinion it makes the shoe look terrible.. But they're probably still my favorite Jordan's (Retros) to play in..
