Another mistake that I made that I hoarded gold and relics like crazy, waiting for an opportunity to use them later for a better items in shop. The result was I was over-encumbered an entire region and didn't found the things I need, and resources just piled up, when I could've used them before to buy at least something of use. So if you're reading this new players - dont' be greedy. Riches won't help you in a grave.

Another tip is compose a team with a specific lair boss and the confession boss in mind. In DD2, counterplay is heavily rewarded, so make the most of it.

One of my most common mistakes: before going to lair or other serious fight you want to switch your build (skills, trinkets, combat items) to be more effective. For example, I went to sluice with Dismas with rat skull equipped. I was like: "Why can't I heal him? Oh, the rat skull. Well, too bad." And then, when he died I was like "Wait. All this time I could unequip it. I'm an idiot."
Here's my #1 beginner mistake: Picking up Orphan Runaway and have her either stay in Rank 4 throwing fireflies or fixing in rank 1 whacking with +dmg ransack, where shes vulneravle with her -hp. WRONG (or at least not optimal or dopamine inducing)! The path is meant to be a dance path. Back rank for building up burns, move forward (perferably with other heros), into a beefy backdraft. Firestarter in between, either for longer burns or critical backdraft nukes. How else can you achieve those 100+ dmg?
Here are a few tips as well 1) TAKE A LOOK AT YOUR HEROES' GOALS! Sometimes, you would need to do them to get more candles in order to unlock better stuff faster than normal 2) ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOU CAN DO THE SECONDARY OBJECTIVE! They can give out great rewards in most cases
my humble tips: - Don't avoid going to the Sluice, you can get nice extra loot and extra mastery points - Save your combat items and inn items for later in the run as the game become more difficult - Don't heal your heroes unless absolutely necessary, they will heal on the way between battles in the coach - Look carefully at the quirks when selecting a hero at the beginning, they will make or break your run (some quirks are insanely powerful (like breacher), some doom you to an early end) - Unlock new trinkets as early as possible at the altar of hope as they are deciding factors in a run
@kamilslup7743
Жыл бұрын
About the quirks: *laughs in breacher grave robber*, but yeah the quirks make a big diffrence, the best bad ones either do almost nothing (occultomania, tune hummer, etc.) And there's also vicious which despite being a negative quirk gives great value (+10% dmg but 15% chance for vulnerable after every attack) And avoid ascetic, they call it positive but it hinders you a lot (bans some inn items and -10% positive relationship chance)
@WetAdek
Жыл бұрын
Ohhhh so spending the candles on the items at the altar are actually being unlocked.... and I tought it just gives me a few extra stuff to make the next run easier, but then again I wondered why do I alway see new items when spending the candles. The ultimate facepalm....😂

Not so certain about the no heal advice, they dont recover that quickly if its just a single nod to nod trip. Id say 60%+ health at last stages of battle dont heal, but below 60% Id keep in mind WHEN are your next fights.
@danewardlocke9014
Жыл бұрын
@@RobaczeYoYo Related to that, if your final enemy is already going to die from a DoT on them or you have multiple characters before the enemy, if one of your characters *can* use a healing skill there's often no reason not to do so; the fight should end before anything bad happens either way, so you may as well squeeze a little more good stuff out of it. (The exact circumstances matter, of course; if that last enemy has good DBR, for example, you might want to just keep attacking it anyway to make sure that it *does* actually die, and sometimes you may want to end the fight before a particular hero's turn comes up even though they act before the enemy does, etc.)
@windflier1684

I would disagree on #3 here, heal as much as possible, so your hero won't get bombrush out of nowhere with crit after crit, then died on the first dot tick. shit will always happen in this game, carefulness is king.
Thanks for this Shuff. Look forward to you expanding on any of these topics if you see the need.
another mistake is returning from the journey earlier that doesn't reward you hope, which is needed to unlock stuffs

One thing I'll add here is those academic caches are huge dont sleep on them, they can give the best in slot legendary trinkets for your party and lots of combat and inn items. Legendary trinkets can get you back in a lost run or make your run smooth af
One thing I'd add about combat items, is I've found being a bit more liberal in my use with them has proven quite effective. Rather than trying to have this horde-up mentality by-in-large. While you should use them effectively and correctly, they also do nothing if you just keep them as well, hoping for some big payoff or situation that may never come. It makes more sense to use them, and save some for harder fights you know might be coming, or the boss at the end. But otherwise, it doesn't serve anybody to have 12 combat items at the end of a run sitting in your inventory you never used.
Good video, though I would like to hear more sometime about picking the right route, I feel like it's a much more complex subject after the Redemption Road update.

Oh yes I agree. The extra flame drain at high loathing is so dangerous. Even if you avoid maxing out the loathing being stuck at 2 or 3 will devastate your light, increase the chance for bad relationship procs while driving or at fights and etc. and might even cause your light to reach zero.

Another big mistake is not subbing to ShuffleFM for weekly guides and tutorials on Darkest Dungeon
4:20 A little thing TTRPG players call the 'Action Economy' , the more turns you have than the enemy, the higher chance you win, and focus firing allows you to get rid of an enemy turn permanently.
Biggest mistake: carrying humanity's last hope like a rational adult would. Group will tear each other apart by region 2, while the laughter of the guys who installed a pot and still and vowed to drink every drop of whiskey in all the lands will be heard as they victoriously stagger down that mountain 😂
I'd say there are few more important strategic issues, which are counterintuitive and difficult to grasp: 1. You need to clear lairs and dens. Otherwise you won't have enough money to buy stuff and your party will be much weaker. Dens give you very good discounts, which helps a lot with good gear 2. Super important to build relationships in the team. Otherwise everything will go down the hill. Stress will build up and you'll be loosing control 3. Super important to keep negative quirks under control. Invest lots of hope into inn items early - this will give items necessary to remove quirks 4. Pile some baubles and visit hoarders closer to the end of the run. This will give you more chances to properly equip your party In other words, you need to invest a lot of effort into properly building and equipping your party. If you do this your party will easily dismantle enemies and bosses. Otherwise, every ordinary fight will be a major challenge.
For me it was understanding that there isn't a hidden hit% chance like there is in most other turn based RPG's. Pokemon, Final Fantasy, etc. Everyone hits 100% of the time unless there are tokens in play that dictate otherwise, and the effects of these tokens are transparently communicated to the player. Even knowing that I still sometimes find myself planning for a lucky enemy miss when I am in a dire circumstance.
Loathing is INSANE, dont let that max out, im having huge issues to learn how to jugle my loathing
About combat items: what if i get a hero goal which makes me use an item that i don't want on that character (like bandages for plague doctor or runaway)?

That's fine. Use them and get it over with lol
I very many times I forgot about combat items. Also little info. I discovered when your heroes kill boss and you dont give them some kind of memory in altar... you LOSE that hero. This is only for those that dont have memory yet but If somehow you made hero with nice stats its pain to losing the for literaly nothing. So if you made the first expedicion with new hero make sure he got memory.

Learned something new today: you can stop the wagon by opening the wagon screen (press Z). This can help you if you need to change your setup at the last minute.
Take Sluice every chance. Now that 5 Loathing doesn't make it Exemplarin' Time! there's little to no downside. Region 1 Leviathan is a trap. Unless you have a Sergeant and at least one Drum from Valley, it's not gonna happen in the overwhelming majority of the time.

#1 beginner mistake: not learning tokens and token management
Biggest mistake is using grave robber or runaway
@kamilslup7743
Жыл бұрын
Eh runaway is decent unless you go to the sprawl. Yeah grave robber is trash, not going to sugarcoat it. Same with occultist unless you completed his 4th hero shrine where you get a decent use for unchecked power tokens: the burning stars (it needs those tokens to work) which is 100x better than guaranteed crits on wyrd reconstruction cuz it might as well be a crit 0 bleed
@sintupoy8428
Жыл бұрын
OCC: 2 tokens for burning stars 25 dmg Leper: blade goes down 80 dmg
A mistake i learned is to not have all moves tied to a certain spot since enemies could move your people around there might be a time where someone is out of place and cannot use any moves and you might have to move back to fix your placements maybe some moves to help fix that or moves to use if the person is ever moved out of their position you can just waste a turn moving them but sometimes you will need to do damage or maybe even someone dies and you will just end up passing your turn
