    A TV show, “Arthur” has an episode about adoption from China. It shows Binky’s family flying to China on a 727, overnight. 👎🏻 Another episode features some live action and somehow their A320 in live action turns into a 727 in cartoon.

    Former USAF here: in the Olympus Has Fallen Scene you're correct in saying that the AC-130 would have been intercepted long before reaching the city, including all of the circumstances surrounding it like the implausibility of the theft happening secretly. I can add a few more items of my own: -While using F-22's to protect D.C. works, since a major squadron of them is based to the south in Virginia, the nearest AC-130 base is all the way in Florida. They would have to fly a very, very long distance to get that plane to D.C., plenty of time to get caught. -The F-22's would not intercept any airplane with a "side-by-side" approach like that. It's an incredibly stupid tactic that leaves too many openings. Instead, fighters intercept by having one airplane fly close to the left and slightly ahead with the wingman hanging back behind the target with a finger on the trigger. -The AC-130's guns are portrayed completely wrong in the air-to-air sequence. They do not have guns on both sides of the airplane. There are a total of three weapons mounted on one side of the plane, as it is designed to "orbit" around a target with those weapons focused on a ground target. Modern gunships typically have only one rotary gun (and some don't even have that), with the other guns being heavy cannons like howitzers. It's also absurd to think they could hit a target in the air, as their range of motion only allows them to focus on a target on the ground, so they don't move that much. The F-22's in the scene needed to be perfectly lined up with these non-existent gun ports in order to get hit. Overall, just a very implausible scene for anyone who knows these aircraft. I literally laughed when all of that was going on because the setup is just so ridiculous and requires not only people being completely blind and stupid to work, but also uses a configuration that has never existed. Great video, thanks for sharing it all!

    The assumption is that the aircraft was American - C-130's are not exactly rare anywhere, if you looked hard enough I am sure the Russians have a couple. And then there are the civilian variants. Two days in a paint shop and you can make a C-130 any colour you want. The real difficulty would actually be inserting a military flight plan into the system to Andrews Airforce Base for an inbound C-130 from somewhere outside radar and communications coverage. Modified C-130 is then inserted to the planned slot out of coverage - much more difficult now with satellite communications.

    There are a couple more things in the "2:22" movie. 1. When the cockpit of the Stellar Airlines flight is shown, you can see the positions of the pilots are switched (The captain is sitting on the right and the F/O is sitting on the left). 2. When the Stellar Airlines is shown from the back after it touches down, you can clearly see that the "A330" is actually a 777-200 with photoshopped wingtips.

    AA had 767s in the old livery, back in 2016. The 757 is correct. I am more worried about the last scene, where the close-ups show 737-style window frames, when the ACFT is supposed to be a 330. Furthermore, I am not quite sure...but I think to have read somewhere, that Home Alone was shot at ORD's T1 - while AA operates out of T3. There is a similiar-looking hallway, leading towards concourses H & K, though.

  • @kentfrederick8929
    @kentfrederick89294 жыл бұрын

    More with Home Alone: 1. At the time the movie was released, no airline out of ORD had a morning departure to Europe. AA didn't start its morning flight to LHR until after 2000. 2. At the time of the movie, AA flew either 767-200ER or 767-300ER, depending on the season. A friend of mine, who has been an AA pilot since 1989 has been ORD crew base since 1990 and knew some pilots who were flying ORD-ORY, when the movie was released. 3. The DC-10 in the movie is the domestic -10 series and lacks trans-Atlantic range. The international -30 series has the center main gear. At the time, the -30 only flew out of ORD to Honolulu.

  • @pastorjerrykliner3162
    @pastorjerrykliner31622 жыл бұрын

    The bigger "error" and peeve I have about that scene in "Olympus Has Fallen" is that they show the flight crew operating the mini-guns. The AC130 carries multiple other crew in the back who fire the guns, not the pilots. The idea that a crew of two can fly, target, and fire multiple independent guns all at the same time is worse than even assuming they could steal a USAF C130, fly into DC airspace, and not be noticed or challenged before they get there.

  • @dx1450

    And the AC-130 only has guns on the port side, not both sides. The aircraft operates by orbiting its target in a left turn in a manner to keep the rotary cannons and the big howitzer cannon on target.

    The American Airlines 757 bare metal paint scheme is believable for the time. The airline has and continues to maintain what are known as legacy aircraft, with liveries from previous eras and airlines that have been absorbed over time. Though the current bare aluminum scheme is borne most recently by a 737NG.

    In Airport 75, the 747 in question is flying a "redeye" from Dulles to LAX. Problem 1 is that redeyes are eastbound flights, say leaving the Wrst Coast between 11pm and 1 am for an arrival at 5am and 7am. A flight leaving Dulles at 10pm ET would arrive at LAX at 1am PT. Problem 2 is Salt Lake as the alternate for LAX. SLC could be an alternate for SFO, although that is still some distance. An LAX alternate would more likely be Phoenix or Las Vegas.

    fun fact, the movie sully was made in 2016. By then united airlines had most of their 737s with the split scimitar wings. The ones that didn't were in the hangar getting them. United airlines didn't want to remove the new split scimitar wings just for the sole purpose of a movie shot. So what they did is just put the continental livery on the planes and then repaint it back into the united airlines livery once the movie was over.

    Great video man! Believe it or not, (in reference to your #5) in 1974 someone actually did hi-jack an Army helicopter from nearby Tipton airport and flew around DC and ultimately landed the on the south lawn of the White house. Its worth reading about!

  • @aviation_nut

    @aviation_nut

    10 ай бұрын

    I believe a Cessna landed on the White House lawn in the 90s, too. But the original point does still apply. Even if you were able to just walk into a military aircraft at Andrews, start engines, taxi, and takeoff, there's no way you'd be able to do that without anyone noticing. Forget shooting the guy out of the sky, the pilot wouldn't even make it to the runway. Now, let's say a spy managed to get enlisted and was dispatched for training. Then the guy might have a chance to at least start a turn towards DC, but that is unlikely to last long. I don't know much about training exercises for military, but I know enough that they have designated airspace to train in. Deviate from that, and you're a major risk for other traffic, even if you were just an idiot and made a wrong turn. They'd pick up on that very quickly and ensure you don't get any closer to DC.
