I guess the good thing is the features on those top end road bikes trickle down to the cheaper bikes as well. So a basic aero road bike with position tweaks is a great option (thanks for including number 5)!

Yes to #5 I love my Fuji Transonic 2.1 rim brake with many upgrades. Love it to bits

Wow a great list with a bunch of old aero bikes. The list is way better than that other cycling magazine that can’t tell the difference from a road or gravel bike. No. 5 is the best for sure. I have been lusting on aero bikes for way to long thinking I’ll be quicker .

The Cannondale for me...

I am happy Trek gave ip on BB90. I did however, figure out a solution for to the BB90 issues that I was having. I started using BBINFINITE bearings and loads of maintenance, specifically making sure there was always grease in the between the bearings and that there was no contamination. Pain in the rear for sure.

How about telling us where to find freshly paved roads with absolutely no traffic?

Interesting! Who would have thought my Scott Spark would be at the top of the Aero bikes list!

The Simplon Pride II is a great aero bike.

It's still more cost effective in watts saved, to buy aero wheels than an aero frame right? I found that working out my core, and practicing my aero positioning has greatly improved my speed. I can hold riding in the drops much longer and can go deeper when on the hoods. I have incrementally lowered my stem and am at my last spacer ring before going fully slammed.

Where is Orbea Orca Aero ?

All the aero bicycles you featured have the common defect of having proprietary handlebar and stem, with limited options. Since improving body position is most important, as you have correctly stated, it is more important to have a system that allows the user to adjust his position and allows the user to choose handlebars and stems appropriate to his level. Moreover, since position can evolve or devolve, incremental adjustment is an important feature, not available on these new bicycles. This is especially important for non-elite riders whose position can still progress.

Can you get one of each of these and test them against each other ? say with a garmin pedal power meter and do 5 laps of indoor track at 290w, and see which is fastest. That would sort out who is full of waffle!

What about LOOK 795 Blade RS 2022!! Definitely more compliant than Madone and top notch engineering

+1 for Merida, great aero bike for an affordable price

Integrated stem and bars are stupid. The position on the bike is much more important than the small drag from a couple wires. I rather adjust my fit easier than spending 300$ on a new integrated combo.

Some aero bikes provide more freedom on handlebar and stem choice. Now those, are the aero bikes I'd buy and ride (I've ridden a Venge before). The 3rd-gen Venge and 2nd-gen Orca Aero allow you to run any handlebar (and stem, if you wish) you want. As for the Madone, you'll need the Émonda's spacer kit. These three bikes route the shift and brake lines under the stem, not inside it.

@@yonglingng5640 The venge still uses a proprietary seatpost and seatpost clamp and a proprietary fork. I'm not familiar with the Orca. I rather ride headache free road bikes.

This list plus Orbea Orca 2022. The Simplon Pride II frame is also used for Simplon's TT bike which has a TT bar instead of a road bike bar.

Biggest things holding us back are prices and product availability

But BikeRadar, option No. 5 is far too logical, affordable and applicable - how are big manufacturers going to earn out of that one?!?

Anyone know who makes the LIGHTEST aero road bike ???

Press-fit in a good quality frame is unbeatable!! BB386 Evo is the absolute dream.

It only happens when there are no hoses inside the steerer, the hoses prevent it

#5 is a wonderful bike. But after 30,000 miles it is showing some wear. And im kinda tired of not being able to stop in an emergency when it gets wet, so i think its time to move on

Canyon aeroad

I love my Madone slr, went from a 19 to 21 model and I don't think ill ever need to upgrade again. Plus looks that kill. I have 28mm tires and you could easily drop in 30mm or even 32mm tires.

Aero roadbikes are one of the biggest buying cons …let me explain….. aero handlebars= the air slips over the handlebars easily and where does it go,,,Straight into the rider…..aero head tube -straight into the rider. Aero seat tube- the air is so disturbed by your body it has no affect. Why disc brakes- heavy ……electric groupset -Heavy. Fatter tyres is the biggest nonsense. Its been proved scientifically. If 28mm tyres roll better then 60mm tyres should be better shouldn’t they?. Why are skinny tyres still used in track cycling….All this nonsense is sales hype. Why have we got 12 gears,,,, when we had 10 why did it it not just move straight to twelve instead of eleven. If you want to be faster, lose weight of your body and train hard and often…. Could someone tell me how in pantani and his likes time they were 5 mins quicker up alp dhuez than riders now…..And before you all shout DRUGS.,! Do you really think no one takes any now

Cervelo just copied the cockpit from the Simplon Pride. So why don't you just mention here the Pride II which will be released 2022 instead of warming up mostly bikes which already exist for years? :/

Best aero road bike for whom? The channel, the tester, the one who can afford it? Whats the criteria? Its like saying, this banana is the best. Some seriously ugly bikes in there too. That Canondale, who designed the head unit mount?

Enough of this aero nonsense for us mortals! I used to own two consecutive year models of Madone 9 in its raciest geometry and as much as it was compliant, nimble and lightweight I have now for good switched to... Titanium!

I can’t decide what is uglier, the system six or the s5.

I seriously wonder how long before the steerer tubes snap. Ridiculously overpriced.

Manufacturers, please kill the press-fit bottom bracket. BBs should be threaded.
