BREAKING NEWS! I made a oopsie. Death Knights can use Death Pact combined with Raise Dead in order to restore 40% of their health, this can be combined with Vampiric Blood for a huge amount of healing. Or they can Death Pact Raise Ally hehehehhee

Liked your videos, having tanked ICC 25hc with pala and dk, 25 normal with dudu, never with warr, I took 2 years break, now I came back and I am leveling warrior, I must say I quiet enjoy it, it's way more fun than paladin and dk, still didn't enter ICC but I can't wait to go there, exept everyone hates warriors :(

It's still viable, you can tank ICC with warrior but it's just the worst option, still an option :D.

Agree with the list and the points you talked about but since you haven’t played DK tank end game I’ll give you some more information about blood dk which makes the gap between DK MT and feral/pala MT bigger in my opinion. You didn’t talk about 3 big weaknesses of death knight: 1) they don’t have any AP reduction ability (fixed in cataclysm with the talent Scarlet Fever) so without this debuff bosses will swing for way more on a DK tank. A fury warrior or retri has to spec into AP reduction if off tank can’t hit boss, like in Sindra tomb reset, RS or LK P1 or even P2 during grabs. 2) They don’t have any passive mitigation (again fixed in cata with blood shield; yeah, dk became rank 1 post wrath...) - Paladins have very high block thanks to redoubt and holy shield and 100% sacred shield uptime; Druids have savage defense. This kind of mitigation can shave off 10-15% on boss hits and should definitely be considered when choosing a main tank. 3) Blood DK has extremely weak AoE threat and it’s a very considerable gap between the other 3 tanking classes. Ofc this usually doesn’t matter in ICC content but it’s something to consider as not all WotLK servers are on ICC patch and AoE threat is somewhat important in T7 and T8

As for rank 1, Paladin is a good choice not because of their CD strengths but because they’re just so damn versatile. Double pala tank is definitely viable but you wouldn’t say the same for double feral or double dk 😅 Margin for error for a pala MT is definitely high and it’s not a noob class like people say - if you waste your dprot, you’ll be vulnerable af and need to rely on externals. The most skilled Paladins I’ve seen play around ardent defender as long as they can.

The AP thing isnt that big of an issue. When auto attacks kill you, you have way different problems than AP reduction. What kills you are special abilities and thats where DKs are simply the best. So many CDs on low cooldowns.With trinkets you can pretty much cycle through your own stuff without externals, i.e. Soul reaper on LK. AMS, Sindy trinket, IBF, and AMS is up again...The AOE threat i kinda agree with , but DnD shoould last you long enough so you have death runes for icy touches to spam on most monsters, And DKs are the kings of 10man content imo. When you have really good gear you can provide IIT and the spell damge debuff and still tank most content.

For t7 and t8 you you just go pala Mt Or frost tank/ot. I'm not joking at all. Running blood is kinda useless in t7 t8 yeah. My guild does this on every priva we run, and we always have success in speed runs.

been running blood dk. with a proper atk to armor balance, you can hold aggro very easily and sit at #1 on damage charts. it’s kind of ridiculous how much DPS they spew

Yeah ERW can for sure be used for that, im really not experienced with Death Knights. I do think the Enhancements should rather buff the raid then focus on their already lacking DPS. Thanks for the continuous support bro

Paladin is the best for off-tank and AoE tanking, Dk is good for single target, druids and warrs are fine too.

I a dk specced into slightly more dps is better than feral in hc and parses. A lot of the 99 and 100 parse runs are going to be done with a frost blood hybrid dk Mt, etc.

I know this video is old, and I know this is a controversial take, but if you're desperately looking for another cooldown, then Glyph of Salvation (possibly with a cancelaura macro) will give you the boon you need. I have very rarely been forced into situations where this was necessary, but it's an option for when progess fights are hard, and bosses like Steelbreaker are about to destroy you with a Fusion Punch.

Palas can cleanse themselves from Fusion Punch :) Besides that it's definitely an option.

I got max 168k hp on my druid when in 25 ICC fully biffed and all items enchanted and socketed to stamina. But that was like 6 years ago when I was still playing on Neverendless.

that is an issue with buffs stacking when they shoudnt. Warmane fixed that years ago and now it works like ti should and those numbers arent possible anymore

You can check "My Addons in WoTLK 3.3.5" for clarification, If I had to guess I'dd say either Need to Know or OmniCC.

I've been raiding whole WotLK back then as a prot warr, never really had issues. Is this just on the private servers then?

Private servers have for sure evolved the meta, look at how different Classic is being played vs back then, its taken us 10 years to get here hehe.

It is a nice change of pace to do something different and go for the achievements and shit without being overgeared. The trade chat and global is pretty much the same on every server. But you are crazy to go there. Join a guild and go have some fun. That has always been the best way to enjoy wow, since vanilla came out up to now with pservers and retail.

The main issue with prot warriors was that the rotation was a little complicated compared to the others and you had to be constantly moving. It wasn't really an issue with power, more an issue of playstyle.

At the moment prot war has better aggro then prot paladin. Prot paladin was bugged on old molten and its tanking seal double dipped. So he hold agro just by auto attacking. Now things are repaired and prot pala is trash for aggro. I play warrior 6.3 tank, and bis dk tank. And i must say I feel like i generally recieve more damage on my bis dk then warrior. Warrior requires a bit more skill, but people that have it are playing it well. There are videos with prot war tanking lod (no tank switching on soul reaper) just to break this story.

Can someone explain to me why dk tank spec into deep frost? Why is he using killing machine?

Grid1, Omen3, OmniCC, NTK and MSBT, you can find them all zipped up in my discord.

My biggest hp pool i got with feral bear druid inside ICC, fully buffed and with survival instinct up - 150k hp. That was when WoTLK was live on retail. In Cata i reached 505k hp on Deathwing encounter.

This feels like a pserver ranking. My ranking for original/classic would be Bear > FDK > BDK > Paladin > Warrior. Bears have the highest EHP, passive physical mitigation, personal dps for most of the expansion and towards the end have the highest avoidance. They also have the best "block" mechanic for bosses, although DKs healing mechanics are more powerful in the correct hands. They are somewhat stiffed in the personal cooldown category, but actually have some now. Same with AOE - they actually have AOE ability now, but not as strong as other tanks. Much is made about the ICC dodge debuff being a bear nerf, but it effects all tanks, and Bears have better passive mitigation anyway, so it is arguable that it effects them less. Frost DKs meaning FD, IFP, and UA talents. BDKs meaning IDS and WotN talents. Pretty much every raid tank spec is a blood/frost blend, and they are essentially the same and depending on whether you fancy passive damage reduction with a powerful defensive+threat CD or slightly better self-healing with larger EHP. FDKs will usually have the highest avoidance by a slim margin to Bears, depending on phase. They have the highest passive "reduces all damage taken" combination of talents/stances with Blood right behind. DKs are the best spell damage tanks They are probably the highest skill cap tank, but have a lower floor than Bears. 2H DKs also have a parry haste advantage (but dual wield DKs, if those are going to be a thing, will have the most parryable attacks). Most pservers don't have parry haste, but it was a huge deal in original. Paladins are the squishiest tank with a huge saving grace in Argent Defender. With AD up they have the highest EHP, but with it down they have the smallest - both by a wide margin. They have the lowest armor and avoidance and the worst blocking mechanic for bosses. They do, however, have pally buffs and an awesome toolkit which makes them an excellent raid member even if not as the main tank. Warriors are a low floor tank. It takes more skill to do what a wet noodles can do with other classes. And if they are highly skilled, they would be better off on a DK. They are great for trash, though, with good snap threat, an AOE stun, AOE movement and attack speed slows, and great reflective damage.

As far as tanking in ICC, wouldn't druid tanks be one of the lower tanks due to the dodge reduction or whatever and don't druid rely mainly on dodge for avoidance/dmg mitigation? I am legitimately wanting to know, always wanted to know why peeps take druid tanks in ICC even with the dodge debuff in ICC. Just wondering is all :)

Sorry for being late, but druids rely on Savage Defense as well, which shaves off the most damage on any boss hit (Compared to blocking for example). That means they will take less damage than a dk, who will take the entire hit and heal himself up with death strike or rune tap. Also having an attack power debuff is huge

been awhile since I made this video, but yeah DK /pala is the most famous one, I personally prefer druid though, DKs can be kinda squishy if the tank doesn't play it properly or misses a CD, bear will have that HP to eat some minor mistakes (you gotta CD the reapers still :P) which there is enough CDs for with just a simple PI and paladins taunt into DP. Both work magnificently (aslong as the OT is paladin!!) and that was kinda the point of this video if I recall right.

Really can’t see any tank being better than a DK. They are just too strong

There is no Explanation for Frost DK on Warmane, Tallents, caps, etc, for me, Frost Dk is the best Tank, for Group or Solo tanking. I main Frost Dk for a long time.

@@17wolfg Hello friend! As a Frost Dk, you need a good healer, because you can't heal yourself as a Bloog Dk. You can take more damage from Bosses as a Frost dk. You have more spells for aggro control with Frost Spec. For 1 target you start a combat with Frost Fever, that will make your target sticked with you, that is first taunt that works 100% on any target. If there are more mobs, you controll your aggro with Howling Blast, with good talents set, you can have full fight with 100% aggro. Those 2 spells will give you full aggro control. If you want to pull more mobs, you can start with Death and Decay, with good talents you can cast it every 20 secs, that it gather all mobs around you. As you know, for Blood dk, you look for hp, for Frost dk, you look for armor, then hp. You also need to take care about Expertise, because, if Boss block your attack, he will get Berserk buff, that will instantly kill you. As a Frost dk, you will have more Expertise that with every othet tank. You can easily aggro all around you, and solo all Bosses with some practice.

Not much of a shame considering they aren't better then full on blood. I've seen UH Spell-Tank be used by several top tier blood DK tanks and they didn't seem to think it was very good, same with frost Dk tank, I personally would never pick one of those for ICC25HC. ICC10nm is w.e, RDF is w.e, VOA is w.e play what you want but in a LoD run doing goofy classes like that isn't very beneficial to the raid.

With 3.3.3 DK resived many talent Changes thats why Frost-DK DW was a better Tank then Blood DK and even in DK Tank Forum and EJ they focused Note on Frost Tanking then Blood Tanking. IT IS a Shame because it Just proofes that wotlk from 2008 is Not the Same than on p-servers. Also it needes to noted that SS got buffed during 3.3.2 and 3.3.3 cuz IT scaled porly and shild Bones was Trash. Bones Shild helps on Dot damage without consuming a charge. Unbreakable Armor reduces damage tanken by 13%(Armor) for 20 sec., Fridge dreadllate goves 3% Dodge. Ifp goves 2% damage reduction.

You miss another defensive cooldown for DK tank homie: During casting time of army of death, you get damage reduction based on your avoidance, it only lasts the castime of spell but it's useful in some cases. Read tooltip carefully.

Taking a prot warrior to the raid unquestionably lowers the utility you bring from the tank slots, considering how good fury warriors are you really don't want to limit yourself to having to take a group setup that isn't optimal.

IMHO, DK are best MT, Pala are best OT

I would rather play retri paladin and choose tank spec in dungeons to make people cancer

Ferals don't have weak threat on pull :o wtf just mangle maul combo and bam instant threat, more than a DK even.

Its all Paladin players that follow you xD ofc the comment section is going to be an echo chamber. In my memory of Wotlk (Mind you this was... 10 yrs ago or more now) Feral was unkillable, DK was... meh okish, Warr sucked outside of Anub adds w/ the block rating set or w/e it was back then. And Prot Pala? Hard to say, no one took one, so that kind of speaks volumes. Sure, things are probably a lot different w/ 10yrs of xp. But I would still be shocked to see a Paladin on the top.

Sure, from my own xp LOOOOONG ago id 100% take 2 Druids now. But... Classic Wotlk is not far away. I guess il be able to see in person soon enough.

Top 4 Tanking Specs: Theres only 4 Tank Specs...

I think for mt: dk Will be on Number 1, bear on number 2, paladin on number 3. And warr is not a tank you wanna go for so i dont count it in cuz its really shit! For a ot you want a prot paladin always, if you wanna try alot of solo tanking then the easyest tank is paladin just for his supporting spells

If You are a real man tank as Warrior, if You are a kiddo go elf.

DKs Will of the Necropolis reduces their damage taken by 15% at 35% and below which is weaker than the Ardent Defender. BUT a blood dk has effectively 13% damage reduction from talents. Paladins have 9%(12% with Blessing of Sactuary).

@@fyrinx4945 Indeed. For those who aren't familiar with the terms: Ardent Defender (3/3): Damage that takes you below 35% health is reduced by 20%. In addition, attacks which would otherwise kill you cause you to be healed by up to 30% of your maximum health (amount healed based on defense). This healing effect cannot occur more often than once every 2min. Will of the Necropolis {3/3}: Damage that would take you below 35% health or taken while you are at 35% health is reduced by 15%. Also bonus if anyone was interested how it was during the early (Ulduar i believe) Wotlk patches: Ardent Defender (5/5) (it was like this in TBC too): When you have less than 35% health, all damage taken is reduced by 30% Will of the Necropolis (3/3): Reduces the cooldown of your Anti-Magic Shell by 12 seconds. In addition when you have less than 35% health, your total armor is increased by 30%.

Not gonna lie, I'm really sad that Protection Warrior sucks in Wotlk.

Paladins in Wotlk have 20% damage reduction from all sources just from their talents, 50% divine protection, 20% glyph of salvation,Divine Guardian+sacred shield, 3% glyph of divine plea, 20% reduction at 35% HP + Deus ex Machina Ardent Defender,highest avoidance than any other tank! Laughing at Soul Reapers...

@@shadowscolide4944 funny since u cant avoid soulreaper dmg. Also u mentioned only 2 cooldowns rest is passive and SS is stronger as hpal.

@@dvr1337 Dude? those are cds, active and passive, be more specific next time! Soul Reaper hits for 50% weapon damage+dot+100% haste buff for 5secs! You think the dot is the only reason to be scared of the Soul Reaper? Paladins are the only tanking class that can reach 102% avoidance my dude, which is a combinatio n of Block-Dodge-Parry (not sure if warriors can reach that in WOTLK) Bears and DKs are far away from it, not even close actually! Honestly you have no idea what you're talking about!

@@shadowscolide4944 not that other than u i tanked lod on every single class hundreds of times but ok. Shadow strike is still magic damage and the tickoff is non resistable. Palas are the worst tanks especially for reapers xD on lod u can survive 1-2max without external cds evem with 30%
