Less than 2 years experience in cyber security and have an interview for another job next week with a 105k base salary plus bonus, 27 PTO days and fully remote. If I get it it’ll be a 30% bump from my 81k salary as an IT Security Analyst.

@@hawkeye770 it’s good. I’m currently working part-time at my local school district IT office. I’ve been learning a lot in various things. At this time, I’m doing MOBO level repairs and such while I finish school. One source that’s really helped me a lot is Louis Rossmann and others like him. It’s really rewarding when you actually work/fix something out and make it work again.

A lot of people in the IT field are self-taught. Some go to school for it and others do a bit of both: learn some things on their own and go to school to supplement what they've learned.

It all depends on your background and your passion. Having said that, if you have basic computer knowledge and you love computers, then go for the cloud. All the 3 major cloud skills are great. Remember, the cloud isn't one skill, it has multiple skills you can pursue. This video is promoting Network skills, which is great, but it's a bit disingenuous because he is promoting his training company. :-) If you have any IT career-related questions let me know. I worked in this industry for more than 20 yrs.

Job security and benefits retirement and health care. Having skills for a stable income is more important than a get rich quick scheme. Sure work enough to make a few buck to trade then when the markets aren't doing well what then? Use logic. Also these companies give stock options and with a high paying steady year salary investment is made much easier. I can go on and on why having a career is better that what you advised above.
