Top 4 Easier Scriabin Preludes for Piano

Музыка

Top 4 is purely my opinion at the time of recording this video. So, if you have different favorites of Scriabin's preludes, share them! I've actually got...well...at least 3 others that I really like, and I may record them eventually.
I find these 4 preludes by Scriabin to be achingly beautiful. I prefer early Scriabin to late--as he got older, his music acquired more and more of a sick/disturbed quality. The early stuff is absolutely magical, though--he had a real gift for writing miniatures, and for weaving multiple melodies together, and for making wild but satisfying harmonies. Some of them have a relaxed nature that he never really revisits after he gets older. I hope this video helps you see some of that magic! Here are the pieces I play in this video:
Credits
--------
Composer: Alexander Scriabin
Piece of Music, Song, or whatever: See list below
Op. 11 No. 9 in E major
Op. 13 No. 3 in G major
Op. 11 No. 22 in G minor
Op. 11 No. 13 in Gb major

I'm working on making a "Top 10" easier Scriabin prelude video. Have to learn and polish a few pieces first, and when that's done I hope to make something good enough to add to your playlists. What are your favorite Scriabin works? (Note at 2:14 note probably should've been Bb major, chromatic mediant, rather than G minor.)

Scriabin is a very paradoxical and versatile composer let alone "moody" as well but I love his preludes op.11, sonatas 1,2 and 3 , etudes op.8 and op. 42

No. 15 from op.11 and no.3 from op. 16 are also touching and accessible early Scriabin pieces.

I never really play any of Scriabin's pieces or etudes before, but I particular enjoy the second one that you played. Great work!

Thanks for the shout out, I'm glad you enjoyed it! Scriabin had a really special magic to him sometimes, so I love introducing people to more of his music. If you like to geek out on theory stuff, one of my favorite guys made this cool video recently on a technique Scriabin sometimes uses: kzread.info/dash/bejne/q4eL28lxZdWTZdo.html

Opus 11 no 11 and 15 are also gorgeous. I know very little about Scriabin. These preludes were a first time to me and I liked them. Thank you~

Ooooo, I've actually played Op. 11 no. 15 before. I probably should've added it to this video! >. Will give 11 11 another listen. Thanks for the thoughts!

really nice video! I love Scriabin and i really didn't know those preludes, except for the last one, but i liked them, specially the first one. My fav scriabin prelude is Op. 16 No. 1, specifically Igor Zhukov recording.

Thanks! Op. 16 no. 1 is amazing also…beautiful in that uniquely ethereal Scriabin way. I just listened to Zhukov-good stuff. You may also enjoy Horowitz’s recording of it! His cantabile and phrasing are killer.

Thanks for the tip on Op. 16 No. 1. I worked on it all April and just made a recording...and gave you a shout out at the beginning, haha: kzread.info/dash/bejne/eoR7qNGxZ9adc9o.html P.S. The way Zhukov handles the inner voice in that piece is pretty amazing. I didn't quite emphasize it as much as he did, but his recording did help inform my performance!
