The Yamaha and Casio piano sound are so beautiful..
I’m glad I watched till the end!

I just bought roland fp10 {€400} for my son as a beginner. The keys are awesome 😍 we had a lot of fun 😍🎹🎶
I bought the Roland FP30X last month and I'm delighted with it. I really like the key action and the key surface texture. For me, it makes a big difference in my enjoyment when playing. My wife says the main piano sound has more of an electronic note than the Yamaha. I think it's due to the speakers. Some speakers need time to 'relax' and soften. The sound is fine on headphones which is what I normally use anyway so it's not an issue for me. The Roland was £80 less than my 2nd choice Yamaha P225 (on Amazon). My previous keyboard was the Yamaha DGX-630. I bought a Z-frame stand with trolley wheels that's proved useful to maneuver the piano e.g. when cleaning. Although it's classed as a portable it's still pretty heavy (15kg)
Nice playing, Jonathan! Great job.
Thanks for sharing this comparison. Exactly these four models have been on my radar for the last weeks, but obviously you have to try them out at a local store. I think I'll go for Roland or Yamaha.
Great review, I have watched several review videos of all four, and they all are great. Any one is a win. But, Roland is my favorite brand, but for the price, I would get the FP-E50, now $100 cheaper at $900, or the new RD-08, which is a slightly less expensive version of the RD-88.
Awesome playing. Come on Roland update the RD-2000 PLEASE!
nice video
Have a soft spot for Roland
And besides you're right, the response and mechanical features of Roland fp30x keyboard with escapement Ph4 is outsider!!!!,

After saw the video, I like the sounf of Piano ROLAND, YAMAHA and CASIO. but not convinced on Kawai sound

Hallo, what a great comparison and pro review!!!!!! For me Roland fp30x is the best digital portable piano in its range of price, actually in the market!!!!! Marvellous Supertramp's "Take the long way home"

Of the four in this review Roland stands out
The lower register of the Roland sounds so rich, IMO. Were you recording line out or USB?
I used to own a Roland RD, and their keys are always heavy, a bit too much. Spent a bit more and purchased a Casio PX-S6000 and well worth the extra $.
Not a piano guy but more a synth guy. I'd also try the Yamaha DGX-670 Portable Grand.

Yes. When I went piano shopping, I had never heard of the DGX-670 but it was the one I kept going back to. When I found the price, it was half what I expected based on the other pianos I had played that day.
Thanks Jonathan this was very helpful. I can't wait to find a store near me and go and see the one I ;like the best. Have a blessed week. RIck
Roland FP30x is the best imo. Nice video, thanks.

I am very picky and have had lots of time invested in you tube piano sounds, I liked all except the Kawai was too sharp sounding...tinny! I perked up hearing the Casio!!!!!!!! I liked this sound the best! I consider Casio a lower end but I totally loved It!

CASIO PRIVIA or CASIO CELVIANO are not toys. I have a PX-320 since 15 years ago. kzread.info/dash/bejne/lYKGu5Sqf6ubebA.html
have a really difficult time deciding between these..... proberly be fp30x or es120 es120 is cheaper... however fp30x have better connectivity...... but what feels best to play. I was very used to play on a acustic upright piano back in the day.
Yamaha Only for me !!!!
These are all really excellent instruments for the price point. Obviously sound and feel is going to be quite subjective. Roland has a pretty rich piano sound but it's a sound unique to its own because of the modeling Roland does. The Yamaha is clearly a Yamaha Grand sample and the Kawai is clearly a kawai Grand sample. Between them, I find the Kawai to be more accurate and I've always just preferred the sound of kawai to Yamaha anyway. This particular Casio doesn't happen to do much for me but I've heard others that I liked quite a bit.

Doesn't Roland sample Steinway?
@inkinthesnow4638

I agree completely. I used to have a Roland and found the sound incredibly rich and unique - nothing like any acoustic I’ve heard or samples I’ve heard. Unfortunately for me I found the action of it too heavy or perhaps too unique. I switched to Kawai which has a beautifully balanced touch to me and just loved the Kawai grand sound. I own a Kawai Mp7se which I believe uses the same sound samples, so it feels right at home to me. And yes the Yamaha just has the Yamaha sound which you can’t go wrong with. How lucky we are to have all these choices these days! 😊
I like the Roland. Yamaha and Kawai are brighter and Roland is more like Schimmel and Yamaha like a Steinway. We got my 90 year old mom an 88 key Casio. Casio is more comparable to the Roland in depth of the sound. Its definitely lovely but different from Roland. Instruments are like people and have different voices and personalities. Thanks for the video and comparisons. How does FP 30x compare to RD 88?
Możliwe że moje ucho jest drewniane ale jak dla mnie wszystkie zaprezentowane fortepiany brzmią bardzo dobrze.
About Yamaha… He said that “it feels fantastic” but there are keys GHS (GHC new name) and It feels good as long as there is enough lubrication. I've owned Yamaha p45 the same keybed GHS for several years, I have serviced it myself and I know what I am talking about

How often do you have to service it? Or does that depend entirely upon how much it’s played?

Rêverie from Debussy
The Fp-60X is $999.. shouldn’t it be on the list too? I’m considering it for the better speakers and display compared to the 30x
Chopin everywhere and forever
Yamaha is the best .the most similar one to grand pianos
What about Korg...??🤔😒
It appears to me that when it comes to a musician’s opinion about an instrument, it is very subjective and personal. If you have 10 comments then you will have 10 different views of what they believe is best and why. I think I would be happy with any of the ones you reviewed in this video. I play for my own satisfaction and that , to me is what counts on the bottom line. I just love music. It part of my soul. Amen😂

So true. We all may have preferences, Roland for me, but they all sound awesome and are great for the price point.
Playing exactly the samething on each keyboard would have been more effective!
2024, so why not show off the Casio PX-S5000? It blows the 1100 away. If you spend more you get an even superior 6000 or 7000 series.
CASIO
u like supertramppp
1. Casio (Amazing) 2. Kawai 3. Yamaha 4. Roland.
😊😊😊😊😊
Kawai and Yamaha no match(Yamaha specially for church)
I have owned a Roland FP-E50 that I really liked, but unfortunately had defect after defect, so much so that it spent more time being sent back to the store than it was in my home. This really has me turned off of Roland purchases in the future. I then tried to replace the FP-E50 with a NuX NPK20, but that was a huge downgrade from the FP-E50, it sounds very poor and feel mediocre. I am now looking at Yamaha, but am not a fan of the lack of a digital display. So I'll probably look towards the P525 instead.
Speakers on all sound very big.... Obviously line out..... Misleading?....
What's the name of the first piece he is playing? Sounds a little bit east-european.
@_TheNoobPlayer
15 күн бұрын
It's a piece from Frederyk Chopin, a Polish-born man that lived most of his life in France... so you certainly did get the Eastern European part right :) I'm not exactly sure which piece it is though Edit: found it, it's his prelude in F minor
Kawai is very metallic, yamaha sounds muffled, roland is good but i like the casio better.

About my opinion Kawai Es120 sound is too brilliant, it lacks of warmth....😮
@exscape
2 ай бұрын
I agree, but I find that a bit weird as I've found the ES-120 to be warmer than most in some other reviews. All-in-all I'm leaning strongly towards buying the Roland FP-30X after many hours of research. Just need to try a couple for myself.
N-1 is Kawai (highest price), N-2 is Casio (lowest price), N-3 is Roland (bronze medal)....
Roland 30x isn't competitive anymore.
