COLLECTING is fun for me, taking me away (for awhile) from the troubles of this world. The key to maintaining that joy has been to ignore all the investing (and grading) aspects of the hobby. I only pay for grading when something highly valuable needs authentication by PSA DNA.

If you're looking to enjoy it id say that's no doubt the way to go. I don't have mine from 35 years ago because I was so embittered by it. If you wanna enjoy it it's only doing what's right for you and don't fall into deceitfulness. This whole grading thing is such a major scam in my opinion. In a way something is worth what people will pay for it,but in time they'll realize that a mint card valued at such and such,that's the value if it's mint,and it's not worth 2,000% of that cuz so and so agrees it's mint. I recognize the value with the internet these days, so you can buy something without seeing it in person with a so called guarantee of it's authenticity and condition. But there's only one way to guarantee those things and that's to have it in your hand. And the idea that some group can make these guarantees,but that any one of us or any veteran shop owner can't do the same? And check out what the difference in what people will pay becuz PSA says it's a 10 vs Beckett,or God forbid some even "lesser" grading company. I'll stop bitching now...but if anyone's interested,I have the title deed to a bridge in Brooklyn, and you can trust me...and if you don't,it's certified,guaranteed,authenticated,autographed...oh and it's in Mint condition and it's a real Gem...(not the bridge,the paper the deed is printed on)...Pro Bridge Sellers Grading Incorporated said so...

Thanks for making this one as the 90's were the junk wax era but a very important era for cards for sure.

It was the last era it was cheap hobby for kids

I just bought a small lot of cards a few weeks ago for $15 and it had a super clean Topps Shaq rc that I'm gonna grade I think it's that nice n an MJ stadium club triple double card I believe it's called but it's not in great condition but I think I got a steal bc there was a few LBJ cards also that were nice. Thanks for the vids I appreciate them.
