Hilltop Hoods are great. "Nosebleed Section", "Cosby Sweater", and "50 in 5" are great. The Living End are awesome. Look at "E-Boogie / Second Solution" live at the big day out. Another band to check out is The Black Sorrows. "Chained to the Wheels" would be a good start.

I bet if you ask most Australian's what the name of Gang Gajang's song "Sounds of Then" is titled they would reply - "This is Australia". I know I am guilty of this. 😉😉

I would like a break down of top songs in the time they came out, so many great songs from Australia that got missed on this selection.

Thank you Mike that was awesome l agree with some of your reactions .Kudos to you Mike. Best wishes from Australia and me . I'm not an indigenous person but I think you would really like an indigenous band Yothu Yindi and"Treaty" a great protest song. Thank you Mike

I had to laugh because you made your no way face at the exact same songs that I make that face for 😆 I recall you doing Paul Kelly 'To Her Door' because I think you loved the bass guitar, if i remember right - but of course my memory has a little trouble at times 😄

I'm surprised that Savage Garden didn't make it into the top 30 songs with the success of their songs "Truly Madly Deeply" and "To the Moon and Back" internationally in the 90's, especially compared to artists like Tame Impala - seriously ? I guess it's a personal preference thing in terms of musical tastes.

Had I have made the list, Little River Band and Air Supply would have been there. But I get it, the young bloke that compiled this is probably the age of my grand children. 😇

Leaving out Evie by Stevie Wright (ex Easybeats) is a crime. A 3 part masterpiece of Aussie rock. What about me from Moving Pictures...Eagle Rock from Daddy Cool are also interesting omissions.

I always cringe when I read comments on vids like these. Everyone has different tastes in music. It would be boring if we all liked the same thing. But definitely check out Hilltop Hoods. Good Adelaide boys.

If you lived in Melbourne and were a regular studio attendee on Countdown, you got to see a lot of these pre-1987 songs be tested on the show prior to them becoming hits. A lot of us ''Countdown kids'' would agree on which song we'd back for a week or a month, and we'd spend that week/month pestering radio stations to play it. I was right in front of INXS when they did their first performance on Countdown with a song called ''Simple Simon'', and I was in front of Men At Work when they did their debut Countdown appearance with ''Who Can It Be Now?''. It would be pretty cool if you tried non-Australian songs that only became hits in Australia due to the push that us Countdown kids gave them.

Hello Mike, please do a video on the living end, prisoner of society? Also, where was Savage Garden and The Seekers? For sure I was thinking I am Australian would have been number 1, but no. Cold Chisel is well deserved, but I was still surprised at that.

Clearly this was put together by a Millennial for inclusion of Tame Impala, and Riptide, etc. I don't think the Living End are punk Wiki describes them as punk rockabilly, I would say they are post-punk

I got the big 69 like!!! baahaaa.. Invest in some better headphones.. I have some JBLs, Sennheiser's etc.. something semi-closed or open, claim them on tax.. semi-open or open is good for long listening.. My Gen X band (we are all 50s now, from the 90s) play Are You Gonna Be My Girl, Prisoner Of Society.. (first 2 songs on the list!). Australia has an amazing National Youth Radio Station called Triple J (part of the National Broadcaster in TV and radio, the ABC) and they have, through their talent competitions, found some of the biggest acts in Australia, including Silverchair.

How can you have some of that modern crap in there but no Skyhooks??? A few other older artists and songs overlooked. And for Tame Impala, you can't go past 'Elephant'. And for INXS it's got to be "Don't Change" (ahead of 'Just Keep Walking').

Yeah not loving the early ones in this list. Tomorrow by Silverchair is legendary and should be up the top of the list. Crowded House are not Aussie, much as I wish they were. Solid Rock is an absolute classic, as are You're the Voice & Great Southern Land. We Were Only 19 should be in there too.
