Speaking of Actors Mojo, could you guys please do a list of Actor Bill Paxton's movies/TV show performances? As far as I've watched both WatchMojo and MrsMojo you guys don't talk about Actor Bill Paxton or his death or his children AT ALL! So if you please make a full list of Actor Bill Paxton and his son James Paxton and the movie/TV projects they've worked on, that would make me very happy.

@@mxhughes I saw Robin Williams in concert the year before he died. He told a story about making "Insomnia". He started drinking again & came onto the set unprepared & drunk. Al Pacino was so pissed off that he threw him up against a wall & said something to the effect of, "This is why I didn't want to do this picture with you. Get your act together or I'll make sure you're gone." Williams said that Pacino scared the living hell out of him. And you are correct, Robin Williams did a fine job of acting in that movie.

Yes! Everybody on this side of the pond knew Hugh Laurie as a comedic actor and one half of a comedy double act with Stephen Fry. His role as the idiotic Prince Regent in Blackadder III is a bonafide British comedy _classic._ So his casting as a serious American doctor in House completely blindsided everyone, and by all accounts he was excellent. A bunch of great picks, but I especially like serious actors going comic. I'm not all that impressed with Jeff Daniels becoming buddies with Jim Carrey, but I love your analysis of Andre Braugher becoming Captain Holt. One of my favorite bits was the others hinting that he might have a pet name for his partner, to which he replies, "I call him Kevin." That kind of deadpan hilarity requires great writing. Along with Leslie Nielsen, dramatic actors Lloyd Bridges, Peter Grave, and Robert Stack did some great deadpan comedy in Airplane.

I hate that people forget that Leo played a horrible villain as King Louis in The Man in the Iron Mask. Also, he wasn't really a hero in Blood Diamond either.

Well to be honest, Bruce Willis was an actor playing sitcoms and comedies (Moonlighting, Blind Date and Look who's Talking are some examples) then he had his chance in Die Hard. I remember seeing the trailer in the cinema and thinking "that's a weird casting" but he nail it.

@@vivitaquerida But not in any of his pre-Die Hard roles did he play an emasculated wimp the way he did in Death Becomes Her. That role was a complete reversal from his action star days post Die Hard.

Meg Ryan in When a Man Loves a Woman or Courage Under Fire, and Patrick Stewart in Jeffrey have to be up there. Harrison Ford finally playing a villain was definitely notable, but I'd say The Mosquito Coast or 42 showed off his range more - the first is a total against-type character still utilizing that charisma, while the second is a proper character actor-type role.

That thing Tom Cruise does in Collateral is a great psychological trick. When you hand someone cash and they are hesitant or on the fence, it is always harder to physically hand money away back then to say no to receive it. Also it is easier to spend money with a credit card because you aren’t physically giving it up, you are just swiping a card.

Yeah, as @brokenfoxx said, it’s the fact Williams convincingly played a seriously creepy villain in OHP rather than it simply being a dramatic role. We already knew he was extremely talented in ‘serious’ roles.

Adrien Brody has said in interviews that due to him being cast as the lead in The Pianist he was more of a common choice for Holocaust films. Even though that is true as he has continued to dabble in that genre as well as other drama films I feel that a lot of the Wes Anderson films he has been in particularly The Grand Budapest Hotel allowed him to break out of that mould. Particularly TGBH because he typically plays highly complex characters while in this film his character is one of the most straight forward and comical villains ever put to screen which makes sense as the film is a comedy that references many caper films from yesteryear in its style. I feel like this really allowed him to do more straightforward comedic roles even if his later movies really aren't that but still it did show that he had the capability to do so.

For Elijah Wood it wasn't SIn City that broke his typecasting... it was (Green Street) Hooligans, a movie he did before Sin City... same year, but yet.. Also wrong about Craig... he was already known as a versatile actor before JB and basically went back to doing what he always been doing between and after. Ralph Fiennes... c'mon, he has always been a very versatile actor.

I completely agree. Daniel Craig was a well-established character actor when he was cast as Bond, in fact it was one of the reasons people were caught off guard (that and the blonde hair nonsense). And Fiennes has always been a phenomenal actor with incredible range. I mean, he went from playing one of the most reviled villains of all times in Schindler’s List to a romantic hero in The English Patient!

Batman wasn't Michael Keaton's first or even most dramatic shift in roles. Keaton starred in the 1988 film Clean and Sober, released by Warner Bros. Keaton won the NSFC Award for best actor, so he was critically recognized for his work. Granted, the film was a financial flop, but it was definitely a mainstream film with all the trailers, tv commercials and marketing that Warner Bros does. It also happens to be one of my all-time favourites!

Ryan Gosling was literally picked for "The Notebook" because it was so out of character for him. The after "Crazy Stupid Love", "La La Land" and "The Good Guys", he was Neil Armstrong in "First Man" and then from that to Barbie. I guess he has never been type cast. When will you do the one of most versatile.
