Having driven the E92, I call BS on people claiming it's not a "real" M3. That V8 is one of the sweetest engines BMW have ever built - just like their V10 in the contemporary M5.

I have a GTO (Monaro of course) and a Mk7 VW GTI as DD, truly love the VW, an awesome car, but the GTO is the one that is extreme fun to drive.

Trent, you may be able to source one here in New Zealand as they are still quite common here. The only problem you might have is converting it to left hand drive as they're all right hand drive. but we still have CV8's, CV6's GTS's and GTO's, and there is also an all wheel drive version called the Coupe' 4, but good luck finding one of theses as there were only 50 of these made and I've never actually seen one.

Gotta love that LS power and the fact that if that amount of HP dosent do it for you then the bolt on performance world has an unlimited supply of things to make mo and mo power!! I gotta vote add some type of boost either a reasonable size turbo or a centrifugal supercharger (I've always thought only pro-mods needed roots style blowers). I've kinda been looking around for one that's either got a blown motor or transmission or tons of miles so I can get it on the cheap and spend the rest just on go fast parts. Also I think it's too bad they stopped making them and the trans-am. That's 2 American icons gone.

Why does the GTO look wierd? Body kit?
Having shopped around for e92 M3s and Monaro VXRs recently, good M3s can't be had for less than £22-23k with decent mileage and/or spec. As for the VXR (if you can ever find one) a half decent one with decent miles will easily fetch upwards of £10k. Most reach around £12k for the desirable VXR model shown in this video (400hp). For £8k you'll get an early '05 CV8 Monaro with the less powerful unsupercharged LS1 V8 (320hp roughly) and dated looks only a mother could love. I opted for the cheaper but arguably better to drive Nissan 350z, with excellent performance, great looks (albeit dated), solid engineering and prices from as little as £4000 for the 276bhp model, I think it's one of the best second hand sports cars to date. For £8000 you could afford the revised HR model (308hp) with decent mileage. For that much you'll get the GT pack which includes full racing brembo brakes, forged rays alloy wheels, Bose surround sound, heated electric leather seats, air con, sat nav, cruise and loads of other toys. I'm pretty shocked he didn't include it as its a fifth gear favourite.

I've also seen where BMW will do a goodwill repair & replace the entire engine if that happens. They said it's actually a design failure and fault of BMW. HSV mate
was looking at buying an E92 M3 coupe, but then I started reading about its S65 engine having premature engine failure from connecting rod bearing wear and inadequate side clearances, etc. it's apparently a design flaw and some lucky people have been able to get BMW to replace their engines out of warranty, just on goodwill, which usually is done when the company realises there is a problem but doesn't want to issue an uber expensive recall or draw too much attention to a widespread problem. They realise it is cheaper to just replace the engines that fail and keep the affected client quiet than have this blow up in the media and damage their reputation, etc.

Corrado owners were only happy twice in their life time... When the bought it and when they sold it and got rid of it
The vw and the bmw look amazing, my two favorite companies

the VW is the dullest and out of place car here, the Monaro and M3 are only ones i'd consider
Nothing about rod bearings?
Those tremecs in the monaro are tuff as f$%k
corrado vr6 :)
Just give me that corrado.
What about an Astra Van? Fastest vehicle on British roads!
Where i live, 20,000 quid to import the M3 and another 18,000 on duty. Even at that age. :(
So disappointing that around the world the Holden product got good reviews, drivability and value for money it was a hit yet somehow General Motors found a way of not using the strengths of Holden product to their advantage instead did a great job of ruining the brand in Australia and then closing it for good. Bloody disgrace what General Motors did with Holden

I live near the factory and they even removed the Holden symbol, which could be seen 5km away, leaving a dirty mark in it's shape. But the rest of the place looks the same. Sad day when that sign came down, last shovel of dirt on Holdens grave. Bastards.
I would get myself a clean Integra type R, cheap to fix, and it is already a collectible

+anon1561 They don't cost anything like that to run. They're based on well-proven Ford mechanicals (e.g. the base DB9 V12 is essentially two Mondeo ST220 V6s) and are generally very reliable. Far more so than a 20k Porsche, anyway!

It’s still a £100000 motor, maybe only £20000 to buy but when something goes wrong , gulp. Take out a loan to pay for it.

@@kristianspencer1978 no. As pointed out previously, the engine is closely related to the Ford Mondeo V6 and uses most of the same componentry. The gearboxes, diffs, suspension and electrics are nothing exotic either.

@@richardharrold9736 £100000 for an Aston Martin with an engine that’s basically the Same as a £20000 ford. Really?? Give me an old hand built 5.3 v8. A proper Aston. A virage maybe...?
30.000usd a M3, in my country almost 100.000usd :(

+A State Of Bikes Not in Mexico, I saw one yesterday: 2010 M3 with only 13K miles for about 33,000 USD. Very good value and better than the new M3/M4 in my opinion, which cost about twice as that.

Saludos!
if anyone buys a monaro and needs parts still plenty cheap here in aust.
