Top 3 ENTP Problems and their Solutions

Ойын-сауық

Before taking the Myers Briggs personality test, I knew that I had some issues, but learning that they were consistent with a known psychological profile was good news. The fact that our personalities have been typed, and our strengths and weaknesses well defined, means that we can creatively solve them to perform optimally.
In today's video I am covering the top 3 flaws of the ENTP personality type and how I manage those flaws to avoid getting stuck in cerebral messy circles, where I can't stop offending people or changing directions every 3 months. If you’re an ENTP going through one of these cycles, or you’re trying to understand one of us, this video is for you!

The main flaw with ENTP is we are oriented around the negative. We are smart, bold, great at making arguments, and good leaders, but we use that to look for problems and their sources, then try to solve those problems. Great for certain careers and roles, but in normal jobs the ENTP comes off as a threat to people who are insecure, incompetent, or averse to change - pretty much every middle manager type. So if you are gonna work for somebody, make sure they will always see you as an asset rather than a threat.

  • @Karl__Pierre

Nailed it. Thats exactly an issue in the corporate world in seconds we will indentify gaps in process and either exploit them to do less work or tell the boss there's a better way to do this....most likely during a staff meeting in front of their superior. While thinking our suggestion will be considered a value add...the average middle manager sees that as a challenge to his throne. Got fired from every job and have stayed away ever since.

Insecure, incompetent and averse to change middle managers SHOULD feel threatened. The bulk of their job can and ought to be done by a SINGLE spreadsheet. Entire HR departments too. An intern with a Python IDE can automate 99% of their jobs, so get rid of the "department", and keep the two people from that office who are _actually_ useful and care enough to look out for people.

You're confirming my realization that I need to honor my personality not try to work against it because of society or thinking there is no choice but to modify myself. Particularly the part about bringing on others to take the tasks that, because I hate them (even when I am competent at them) slow me down and sap my vitality. I am an ENTP on the border with ENFP, with a close to 50/50 T & F but I realize that my empathy and clear communication were things I chose to learn. I was born with a preference for economical directness that I thought of as respectful honesty but others saw as hurtful or rude. . I do like orderliness in my home, but when I'm involved in a project it's like a mini tornado hit until it's done (& I'd really prefer someone else clean it up so I can move on to the next, lol)

I think you have to be constantly engaged with things that you are interested in, I also think you need someone who likes to listen to you a lot and is open enough to be interested in all the subjects you have to talk about, you absolutely need an open mind person since you go back and forth all the time they should be able to understand and also you like that person to know you well because sometimes you get loss in your own ideas and that person should be able to bring you to reality. You are a very supportive partner. Being with you is not difficult as long as your partner is clear in who you are and loves you exactly like that.

I also really like seeing other people's opinions on things, so I go do the networking job in our groupings and she handles organizing every idea I receive from myself and other people, its a blast to be teamed up with her. Sometimes, when I'm too interested in a topic she doesn't like, it can slightly be like talking to a wall, but I'm sure she has her own problems with me when I get too disorganized, but I wouldn't have it any other way. If i had to guess, you're a younger entp male. Probably attracted to girls who don't value your skillset and personality yet. Younger women want older men that can provide and make them feel special... Also as a younger entp i was very attracted to extraverted women that were organized and oderly. Those types tend to have a hard time understanding our ways. Find yourself a nice INFP or INFJ they'll appreciate the current guy you are but may not present like the type that always gets your attention.

Amazing video. Well written, shot, and presented. I have a question. Im assuming writing this script was easy for you (in fact you probably could have freestyled this and been just as good) But how were you able set up the camera, get the footage, EDIT it, and render it, and then come up with new ideas for your next video without giving up because it was just too much work to do that every time?

Haha yes... I write only the portions when I'm facing the camera frontal. The side shots when I am facing the other direction is off the Top of my head. I write scripts when I'm on flights because i have nothing else to do. Then I film with a videographer 6-8 videos in one day which carries me for 2 months. My editor handles the most grueling part which is the editing. Social media manager handles the uploads I get my ideas from the comment section, and from everyday questions. Sometimes spontaneously. You just gave me a good idea for a video hahaha ...my setup and my start and transition to being more professional. 2 videos actually!

Speaking as a senior, I finally stopped worrying about it lol. I realized I was never going to find THE place, or city, or piece of land that would satisfy me permanently. I think 8 years is the longest I've lived in any one house. I find a place, move in, fix it up, enjoy it, and then I'm ready to move on to create something else, somewhere else, a different lifestyle perhaps. Big city, small town, country acreage - I've tried it all. I'm 80 now and the realization that this is most likely the last place I will own is admittedly a little disconcerting, but such is life. As long as I have projects I can keep doing here, I expect I'll be ok.

I also wonder as ENTP, have you struggled with specializing in ur past, I tried so many different things and now I am more driven than before but still I am scatterbrained, I remembered 3 years ago, I asked advice from you about my job choice and I said I am doing accounting because my parents told me to do so, and you find it ridiculed, 😂and you were so right I dropped out from accounting because I am too creative an accountant and now I think I am better suited from entrepreneurship, which is a general broad major and suited me better 😂 I also watched your growth since 3 years ago, thank you very much for the help and hope you keep moving forward ❤ I am still in college right now while most of my friends have graduated because I spent these years looking for inspirations.

Since I realized there was something wrong with my mind after discussions with him, I avoided to argue with him anymore. So many times the conversation would end with them being angry/offended and I was confused cause the whole time I thought we were just talking about the problem but they thought I was attacking them or being condescending. I also have a really hard time not showing it on my face if I don't see the logic in what others are saying.

I’m an ENTP about to marry an ESFJ, she’s the most loyal nurturing type.. but ur right about losing a certain engagement.. whether social, intellectual.. i find she is most sophisticated emotionally, and her specialized in home and family life which is very foreign to me. With cleaning, she likes to do it on her own daily and doesn’t want me to get in the way (because I’m not good enough).. even if I try, she’ll just redo it anyway after w no fuss. Only when I pick on her does she bring up how much she does. I’m curious how it’s like with an NF?

  • @Karl__Pierre

Hey hey you're about to get married don't start thinking about Nf's lol. I think the entp ESFJ pairing can be a good one. My ex wife as mentioned is an esfj we paired nicely for work and the exchanges involved in marriage but there was something just missing. The NFs from my own experience enfjs enfps infjs are good for theoretical conversations, alternate perspectives, and physical chemistry. An ENFP will pack up, drop everything, and run away with you without thinking through the consequences....their the type to steal you from your wife hahaha. An enfj would too while staying organized. I think ENFJs are also great entertainers and people masters. They can work a room with you or for you. Host a party mingle and then report who is the snake in your circle. They will certainly have irrational arguments based on how they "feel" and are super stubborn. If you can navigate that they are awesome partners.

As an ENTP myself (Granted I am seemingly far more strict than yourself) noticed a pattern between what you are saying and a similarity in SPED Children. Basically you stated what you are and how you think, which is good, but it moves into a justification after on why you may be fleeting, irresponsible, inattentive, and why the majority needs to work around you. Again, I am an ENTP myself but I would put me in a realm above yourself as you seem to be in the 1980's still while I am in 2023. Have you noticed that everything you talked about is something the 80's strove for that no longer exists? Basically a flip flopper looking for that one job that gives him that lifetime original programming happy ending that also doesnt exist. Have you evaluated THAT about yourself and why you are doing what you are doing?
