Congratulations 😇😇😇 I also got inspired by Bluerider and started my journey by cycling.

I was a beginner when started, but searched alot about how to use gears, physics behind them, n all. It helped alot in using them efficiently. My experieince says, we use gears to maintain the Cadence of 60-100 pedals per minute like u said in a video.

1F/1R-3R are for uphill. 2F/3R-5R are for accelerating and normal riding. 3F/5R-7R are for speed riding/downhill riding(to maintain 60-100 pedals logic)

climbing gear combination is low teeth in front and high teeth in rear. Where as for high speed is High teeth in front and low in rear. the aim is to maintain cardiovascular load vs muscular load in any situation (climbing/flat/downhill) the same is done by maintaining moderate to high cadence 60 to 90 rpm .
