The terminal ascent has worked amazingly on game . The 6.5cm is not a great elk cartridge but my kids shoot it very well and take proper broadside shots. My kids and two of my friends have killed 4 , 6 point bull elk and one big black bear with that little creed . All under 200 yards and good broadside shots . I recovered 2 bullets . One on an elk and one on the bear . The rest passed through and did tremendous damage. I’ll have to weigh the bullets I recovered . Great video . Thanks

Do u think the terminal ascent is OK on whitetails in a 7prc I want something I can sight in and leave it alone I know they great for elk but will they still perform on smaller game

My favorite by far is the 127 LRX. I don’t shoot much past 300, and haven’t killed anything much over 200 with it. When I hunt elk I use the 270 WSM and generally limit my yardage to 350. I think my farthest shot has been about 325.

Very cool picks and great video as always! Can't say anything about elk, closest I've ever come to hunting them is red deer (hey they're genetically pretty much the same lol) but I'd have zero hesitation with sticking a moose with a 6.5 Creedmoor.

Glad I found you guys..been using PowerPoint ammo for decades in other calibers. But I've been researching a bergara b14 ridge in 6.5 cm. And most of my shots are under 200 yards..

I'm able to push a 127gr Barnes lrx to approximately 2850fps fairly easily using Superformance powder and Fed 210 large rifle match primers. Works well on deer sized game within reasonable distances, 300yds and under! Also getting .35 moa groups using the Weatherby Vanguard 2.

Solid choices. Nice presentation. Can't say I'd consider any 6.5 on large game. I know people do. I'm a believer in bringing the minimal caliber to RELIABLY put game down humanely. I don't think even 264 Win Mag fills that bill for moose and such. But that's me.

My wife and I have a 6.5x55 and a 260 Rem. I agree the 130 gr class is perfect for this class of rounds. I like the 130 gr Accubond probably the most but always try new bullets because it's fun to experiment. Speaking of hard to find bullets, the new Speer Impact looks great and currently comes in 6.5, 277 and 308. Maybe you can find some and add them to your tests. Thanks for all you do!

I think the 6.5 creedmor and it's peers are a good minimum standard for elk. You can and should limit the range to 300 yards and use as heavy and as strong of a bullet as possible, and be wary of hard quartering shots. But a well placed shot from a creedmor will be much more effective than a poor shot from a much larger caliber. I think that it really shines for shooters who for whatever reason are going to be recoil sensitive.

The Hornady 129g SP flat base lead tip is a bullet that few appreciate due to it's BC for shorter range hunting. The 129g SP acts like a Partition in penetration, even when shot in a 264 Win at 3150. The Win bullet you mention is unavailable to reloaders..

Great format for a video. It gives everyone with a caliber with medium velocities like the 6.5 a good idea for their selection. For instance, I shoot a 7mm-08 and my preferred bullet is the 140 Trophy Bonded Tip. Pretty close to the Terminal Ascent. My load reaches 2785 and thats good enough for my hunting style. BTW I wouldn't hesitate using it on black bear or even moose hunting with strict shot selection.

@@frontlinerejects8029 I'd love to send you some but I loaded all my 140 grain ones and I'm waiting until I can get some Winchester StaBALL 6.5 to reload the 160 grain ones. I started with H414 and my node was at 2531 fps (half in. group.) I'm hoping the Winchester powder will give me better velocity and acceptable accuracy.

Or you could save yourself some money and eliminate everything from 2 to 3 all the way up through 300 Winchester magnum by buying yourself a 30 ought 6 Springfield. Feel free to prove me wrong tell me anything that the 6.5 can do better then the thirty-ought-six. That list is going to consist of absolutely nothing.
