The tempe mixed with red hot chili pepper is called "tempe penyet" or crushed tempe.

The dish that looks like mashed patata/potato is called "perkedel". It is savory and lil bit salty as it made of the mixture of mashed potatoe and egg plus vegetables inside.

You have to mix all the vegetables with the peanut sauce, so you can eat them easily and deliciously ( gado gado ) gado gado It means mixed

Mie goreng...is quite simple and cheap meal. Students who study out of town and stay in a boarding house prefer to make fried instant noodle to save their money. Tempe is falsely considered as food or meals for the poor ... but now everyone eats tempe...

you can request tempe with sambal (chilli) saying to seller is no spicy, is very nice and healthy

As your information, tempe is made of soybean, the soybean is still imported as Indonesian's soybean is not recommended to make tempe in term of size, quality and taste. People use Indonesia's soy been for making soybeen crackers or in the local language we call it "rempeyek"

The dish of tempe of which colour is black ia called "tempe bacem" . It tastes lil bit sweet as people make it with certain ingredients including brown sugar.

Every region in Indonesia has different taste for tempe. I live in Semarang, Centra Java where mostly the taste of tempe is salty but when you taste tempe in Surakarta or Jogyakarta, people like to have sweet taste for their tempe. That's why when the price of tempe is increasing, tempe makers will then protest to the government as most Indonesia like to eat tempe due to its cheap price.
😅 ~ that all Chili not tomato... I love eat that "Tempeh penyet" with all Chili, and warm rice so good . 👍🙏🔥 Greeting from Java island

Did you know that tempeh in Indonesia will taste different from tempeh in foreign countries? even though the materials used are the same, due to the influence of the weather etc

en mexico no es tan facil. hay una productora de tempe (mexicana) desde hace un par de años (al menos 5-7), pero por alguna razon su distribucion es limitada, no ha logrado penetrar supermercado (mainstream). solo tiendas de nicho muy especial, como tienda japonesa, o restaurancitos vegetarianos. La calidad es buena.
