Dead Space 3 would’ve been phenomenal without studio interference. Carver was originally supposed to be Isaac’s split personality like a Tyler Durden. Studio demanded they nix this for whatever dumb reason.

Yes, it's true that the Dead Space franchise did lose its way, but it might be able to get back on track with the upcoming remake of DS1.

I'm surprised Fallout 76 wasn't mentioned, as that game practically ruined the franchise and completely destroyed Bethesda's reputation.

Even the bad ones were very playable. They were great rentals. Pop them in, play for a weekend. Never finish it and move on. That was actually a fun time.

@@karinadelma What about Sonic Mania? That game was very good and it wasn’t even made by Sonic team. I will say however that the last good sonic game besides mania was Generations. While Mario usually has great games, there are a few duds like Paper Mario Sticker star, Mario Tennis ultra smash, and Mario Party, The top 100.

As a teenager, I remember seeing my brother playing Dink Crisis 3 and immediately hating it. They took away everything the first 2 games did right and replaced it with fast-paced action and combos for kills. Just unbelievable.

Dino Crisis 2 had fast paced action and combo kills as well, it was just a better game.

1. Could it have been anything else? It's a game that was made out of spite for Hideo Kojima. The story feels like it belongs in another game, the writing is dumbed down worse than a Michael Bay movie, and several mechanics interfere with gameplay and make enjoyment difficult, oh and it has the nerve, guts, gall and balls of solid anti-matter diamond to EXTORT PLAYERS FOR ADDITIONAL SAVE FILES! That last one makes EA look more sensible, because even they never did THAT with their microtransactions! Above all else, the game and the company just does, not, care! In fact, it was so bad that developers hid messages and Easter Eggs that mock Konami and praise Kojima. Its almost as if Konami WANTS us to forget about it's most beloved franchises to a seemingly hostile extent! Want a new proper game in any of the Konami franchises featured on this list, well too bad, it ain't happening!

@@RadJack14 The N64 version of _Banjo-Kazooie_ had an annoying mechanic that is not present in the Xbox remake: you had to recollect all the notes if you re-entered the level or died.

Bloodstained is HALF amazing. The Curse of the Moon games are masterpieces, but Ritual of the Night was a colossal disappointment.

I think Castlevania's demise was less due to Lords of Shadow 2 and more to Konami having gone Orwellian in the last decade. MG Survive is also a product of this. Is Big Brother still running Konami today?

@@UltimateGamerCC from what I heard about Rare, they’re mainly focusing on new ips and have no interest in returning to the old Rare titles. It’s only up to the Xbox games studios whether each of them are interested in giving their take such as Playground Games with Fable and The Initative with Perfect Dark. As much as people ask for Banjo Kazooie toward the creators behind Psychonauts series they’re not interested either at the moment since there’s something else in mind after P2. So we’ll have to wait on whether anyone except a few would give a try. At this point they’re pretty much relics of the past so new titles are more likely with a very little returning titles hence Microsoft being hands off and let the studios do their own thing on what games they want to make new/old.

It really says something when they're 3 separate Konami franchises on the list and one of them is number 1

I've said this multiple times. I loved every game in the Dead Space series. Even 3. It had its issues, but I liked the crafting mechanic.

I loved the modern military Medal of Honor games and I loved the 2010’s multiplayer it was interesting playing as bad guys instead of neutral powers.

Why isn't Banjo Kazooie nuts and bolts on this list?

Yeah it's okay. The stealth sections aren't even that hard. Most only last a couple of minutes at best. The really great thing about them is once you come back later for items you missed, you never need to do them again.

There are two compilations that have a bunch of the older Castlevania games and even all of the GBA ones

Never forget Sonic 06 (turns 15 this year), Sonic 1 (that awful port we also got in 06), Shadow the Hedgehog and Rise of Lyric... Those ruined the franchise but thankfully Generations and Mania (as well as other games) keeps it living

Consider it a dishonourable mention. The vehicle mechanics, emptiness of the levels and L.O.G. were what killed the franchise. My hope is seeing Banjo and Kazooie on _Super Smash Bros. Ultimate_ might pave the way for the first two games to be re-released on the Switch, but it's not likely.

Could of even invented handsome jacks brother/sister up or something, handsome Joe, James, Harry, hannah, Jackie, etc. Instead the calypso twins full of cringe social media jokes... like chose one of the biggest poisons of today's world and put it in a beloved franchise, ouch.

Not to mention the terrible technical issues it had on launch, and limiting split screen to two players. It probably works fine now and the gameplay IS fun, but the guns, characters, and skill trees are more fun in BL2 anyway imo, so I have no desire going back to BL3.

I thought F.3.A.R. should have earned a dishonorable mention or have been mentioned as well. I did enjoy the previous 2 games like dead space as by the 3rd installment it went on a totally different direction

The current Mario Party developers, ND Cube, still contains the Sub Series’s key developers, and they just redeemed themselves with Super Mario Party for the Switch, so it makes sense why they didn’t put it on the list.

The most fun I been having with the series is with dead rising 2 and the spin-off what if story of off the record a retelling of dead rising 2s story only this time with frank west instead of chuck Green

What about Spyro: Enter The Dragonfly? That game kinda did kill the classic Spyro franchise. I know the Reignited Trilogy brought it back and whatnot, but that didn't exist until nearly 2 decades later! Which I'd say is long enough to declare legally dead (before it was eventually brought back to life)

I enjoyed downpour, story wise wasn’t bad at all I liked the free roam style but they needed to add more stuff and better enemies. Frame rate was the real problem in this game.

I Never Played Any Of These Games Ever!

C&C4 was an incredible disaster, because it tried to be something it wasn't. The idea was to use small teams like in StarCraft and capture the flag like in Warhammer 40K. It missed the point greatly, because it changed the game in its very concept. You see, the idea behind C&C is to make large armies and focus on macro-based tactics and strategy, which made the franchise relevant, because it filled the void made by almost all other RTS games, which focused on micros instead. The EA executives, however, were lazy, greedy and stupid enough to not understand this. The cherry on the cake? StarCraft II released Maps with no unit cap. Oh, the irony.

Imagine a compilation of 1 - 3/CA on PS5. (They can even throw in the 1st Fireteam Bravos for all I care.) I'd probably get a PS5 just for that.

The main problem with the Lords of Shadow sub-series for me is the tone. So much of it focuses on "HORRIBLE ANGUISH! The SUFFERING the "hero" and world must ENDURE as melodramatically as possible." Like blah blah blah. You're a nihilist. We get it. And most of the few lights of hope and humor that are there are still most likely result in someone being dead. Not only that but LoS 2 opens with you murdering an innocent family and eating them, including a child. And how do you save? By essentially slitting your wrists into a blood fountain. I don't need to explain the implications of that one. Okay, it ends on a happy note, but the journey is agonizing.

It wasn’t really the gothic or super edgy tone of the game that got me, it was the gameplay, I was completely satisfied with the first LoS play style, it was very similar to GoW in combat and I gave it taps for replicating such a great engine mixed with how many puzzles and hidden secrets are in the game as a whole, LoS 2 felt more like they wanted a DMC vibe with more abilities and weapons at your disposal but was lack luster since you could just spam the sword the whip became useless, and the new stealth mechanic was just terrible

What about Mega Man X7? That game was so bad, it actually hurt the sales for the much improved Mega Man X8 and the fan favorite RPG, Command Mission. In fact, Mega Man X7 was so bad, the first way Capcom has brought it back is as a mobile game, Mega Man X DiVE. Speaking of, a user named JKB is doing a Mega Man fan game called Mega Man X: Corrupted that looks to have so much passion put into it, I hope Capcom comes to him and offers to publish his game for consoles, just as Sega did for Sonic Mania.

The video is about companies that ruined a game franchise and it never recovering. Meaning, not being able to make another one after the bad game and in which killing the series. Mega Man came back from the bad ones and even managed to make 11

@@YEHOxSHUA Yeah but that's classic Mega Man, and even then, we had Mega Man 9 in 2008 and Mega Man 10 in 2010, not to mention Mega Man being put on the backburner was due to Keiji Inafune leaving Capcom. I'm talking about the Mega Man X series, with the last game that came out being Mega Man X8 in 2005. Yes, we have Mega Man X DiVE, but again, that's a mobile game and not a true successor, especially considering X8 ended with a cliffhanger.

@@Vampocrat I still think you don’t understand the purpose of the video. They still was able to make a Mega Man game that literally came out two years ago. Whether it was classic or whatever, it was still a game of that franchise. It’s like saying DmC killed the devil may cry series which can’t be true given they made dmc5. Whether it was made by the same team or not it’s still a game of the series.

@@YEHOxSHUA But DMC5 isn't a mobile game, and that's the way Capcom is trying to rebound Mega Man X, which in my opinion is pretty sad. Besides, some of these franchises are trying to return anyway in one way or another.

I really liked the first 2 Earthworm Jim games growing up and I honestly had no idea that there was a 3D game in the franchise. I know that he made an appearance in Clayfighter 64 but other than that I thought there was only the 2 games.

Waiting for a Call of Duty title to sell poorly enough to show up on a list like this to give Activision the kick in the ass it needs to retire the franchise and put out something that appeals to those of us who got tired of playing rehashes of the same game for 14 years in a row, with half of them being WW2 themed

The Bubsy Franchise The Game Controls we're God awful, The Story was dumb AF, & Bubsy 3D will probably be one of the worst games to see the light of day!

You will have to redo this list when the Saints Row remake comes out.

Crackdown 3 had so much potential. I like the fact it’s coop, but yea it needed more.

I remember playing Earthworm Jim 3D on N64 when I was a tween. I never finished it unfortunately and I thought it was too hard. Anyway it's not quite good as the first one and the second one. Boss fights are kinda lame.

The fan base is so big, they can literally shit in a sonic game case and enough people will still buy it

The saddest part of _Duke Nukem Forever_ is that the DLC, _The Doctor Who Cloned Me,_ is actually pretty well-made, but it was too little, too late to save Duke. Also, was surprised not to see _Blood 2_ on this list. Terrible sequel to one of the best games on the Build Engine.

Notice that persona 5 wasn't on this list Note this is a joke.

Also worth mentioning, The 11th Hour, WWE 2K20, Sonic The Hedgehog 2006

Alone in the Dark 1 and 2 from the early 90's are one of the best horror games ever. Aged badly sure but was incredible at the time.

For some weird reason,many of the mentioned games were in the hands of EA when it failed. Wonder why. Some games that i can thing of as a killing blows to a frenchise. C&C Mobile. Sacred 3. Dungeon Siege 3. Breath of Fire 5 and 6,5 was bit weird but 6 put it into a coffin. Well,killing a frenchise is mostly the fault of the things that a gamedev focuses on. That is why it was a bad thing to give the reins into the hand of businessmen,who give 0 f for anything else then profit.

I hope Chibi Robo returns, and maybe redeem himself, I miss Funky Phill

Dead Rising 4's failure in the long run definitely made The Last Guardian a better game in comparison. Plus one reason some of these games were disappointing is due to them being produced by that demonic publisher EA.

I'll die alone on Earthworm Jim 3D's hill. It's rough around the edges, but it's a really fun and creative game. I loved it as a kid and I still enjoy it really much today haha

There's a Contra game in development now, plus the game on Dreamcast ruined the franchise long before this

Another example of a game that ruined its franchise is Roller Coaster Tycoon World. As a long time fan of the series, it really saddens me that it ended so badly.

Agreed. It was a decent game that could never live up to the hype. And then one could make the statement that the Duke Nukem franchise never had any amazing games. I mean, Duke Nukem 3D and Duke Nukem Zero Hour are good games, but the rest...? No, Duke Nukem Forever is one of the better games in the franchise.

It didn’t kill the franchise ,although it’s the lesser game out of the 4, but it was left on another cliffhanger with no telling when there will ever be another entry

Technically, the series is not dead. While Sanzaru abandoned the ip, Sucker Punch Studio could always decide to resume development. Whether or not they do anything with Sly 4's story is up to them. Though if they keep it canon, they need to either redeem Penelope or have her eventuality realize her revenge attempt is a waste of time and ultimately leave the Sly gang alone.

I'm such a scardy cat that Dead Space 3 kept it's horror element with the necromorphs alone, but I can see how experienced more high tolerance gamers wouldn't appreciate the less sinister vibe
