"Hiring the yakuza doesn't seem like something Maude Flanders and Helen Lovejoy would do" Someone clearly not watching The Simpsons closely enough, Helen Lovejoy is a menace
It’s hard to depict on The Simpsons when it comes to “going to far”, as oppose to other Adult Animated Shows, most notably Family Guy, American Dad, Archer, Rick & Morty, Aqua Teens, etc.
I haven't seen all of The Simpsons yet, but gosh, Bart jumping the gorge, also getting hated by the townsfolk, and Maude Flanders is killed off?! Those are such gobsmacking moments!
I'm surprised they didn't mention literally every Itchy and Scratchy episode.
I always loved how Marge's breast implants is considered to be one of the most notorious episodes in the entire Simpsons series!!!

I thought I'd point with that with the Number 16 pick, it got a callback in the crossover episode with Family Guy. Peter Griffin says "We're gonna MAKE it!" with Homer's response being "Trust me, we're not". Predictably, the flying saucer they were in fell into Springfield Gorge just before it could clear the gap.
Bodybuilding Marge is one of my favorite episodes actually 😁😍

I would like to see them do more videos like that, especially for the rest of the Simpsons family. Episode 23 of season 10 is banned in Japan. And for many good reason. On top, Homer grabbing the Emperor during a sumo match and throwing Akihito in a basket full of used thongs. And this episode was also initially called Fat Man and Little Boy 😮

The whole town shaming Bart over a lost ball game was horrible. That's why I'm not a sports fan, losing just creates hate. Power to Marge for scolding the town for it, but it just didn't feel like enough punishment for the town. Poor Bart, he just cannot catch a break.

This is unwatchable, every clip you pointed out is why the show is so amazing. The show is great because it’s a cartoon that connects so viscerally with actual life. In every instance the cartoon aspect takes it to the extreme but the characters motives are driven by real world conflict. Like public outrage, shame, internal conflict, etc. things we all go through. In this way Homer or Bart or Lisa or Marge are a vessel for the audience to explore and laugh about real things they might have actually dealt with in their lives. In writing the characters this way the audience will never side against the characters despite how deplorable their actions may be because the internal conflict is so relatable. Even in the episode where Homer leaves his father to die, you understand Homer as a viewer. You understand fear, you understand a complicated relationship with a family member, and you understand shame. It’s amazing writing and not to far at all.
Definitely the episode where the whole town drove Bart insane because of a baseball game. There was absolutely no need for them to go that harsh; even by Simpsons standards. There’s an early season episode where the Simpsons are stealing cable and Lisa gets all preachy and religious. That episode helped cement her as my least favorite character in the show
Always brighten my days, greetings from Ecuador
Marge's ''magumbos'' did give us a lot of solid Rule 34 art
the only one i can really refute is Maud's death as the voice actress quit so it kinda makes sense instead of trying to recast her, same with Mrs Krabapple whose voice actor passed.
To lighten the mood… Homer’s Phobia is my all time favorite.
I think that Marge not taking no for an answer is the number 1 time the Simpsons went too far.
I know it's really dark that they showed Moe coming very near to committing suicide But come on I could not help but laugh when the song that played when he was on hold with the suicide hotline actually says "suicide is painless"😂
Also RIP Phil Hartman (voice of Troy McClure and Lionel Hutz)
There were dozens even hundreds of times the simpsons went too far!!!
Yup i remember when Homer found Waylon Smitters Sr
They didn't kill Maude to "spice things up" her voice actor quit the show because of travel issues and so they had to do something.
Homer's enemy is the best Simpsons episode.
I mean the thing to remember is that yes, it may push the envelope, but it seems like a lot of the edgier moments are within today's standards. More often than not, the dark tone is to give us a sense of moral for the character to learn from. Not only that, but a lot of it is actually really funny.
I know there is no shortage of Simpsons episode that are bad but the Boys of Bummer is arugably the worst
If you offend at least one person , you've done your job right
RIP Marcia Wallace (voice of Edna Krabappel) and Russi Taylor (voice of Martin Prince)
I actually like the Smithers sr episode, it was a nice mystery.
Mr. Burns did something bad? I am shocked! So out of character...
Goldilocks getting slowly eaten alive by the 3 bears whilst screaming for help behind a locked door.
Most of these moments aren't disturbing if you have even a little sense of humor. The jocky moment especially is meant to be A JOKE for gosh sake 🙄
In 10-15 years, The Simpsons will become completely unwatchable.
Getting offended over singing jockey elves... Yeah, im done with Watchmojo
Nice thumbnail, that'll definitely work for sure.
Large marge is one of my favorite episodes. I was also disappointed when she went back to a normal flat chest at the end and im sure homer was too. I kinda expected her to keep saying my eyes are up here! 😅
Never seen and not interested in Boondocks, and I LOATHE South Park
I find it hilarious that Frank Grimes’ last words were “I’m Homer Simpson” 😂
No such thing as the Simpsons going to far. Marge's breast implants was one of the funniest episodes ever. Lighten up.
Homer falling down the gorge it's one of the funniest moments in the history of television 😂. Never too far: it's funny, logical and perfectly written.

Wait a second... I haven't watch Simpsons in a long long time since it got bad, but I now I know Number 1 is a Family Guy episode... Simpsons really have done everything..
Personally, I think you should have added the episode in which Apu had an affair. I found that wrong for soooooo many reasons. And every time it was mentioned it made me want to... 🤢. I could totally relate to Homer that one time.
Thank you for the update, WatchMojo..!! I think the Ice Sculpture McBain skit was way too violent. 🥶
Which one of the Simpsons do you think has the most common sense with no devastating flaws?
Is Lisa the worst sister since she either doesn't accept or sabotaging her siblings on what they're good at which she fears would outshine her like Bart drumming and Maggie being somewhat smarter?
@sarahquinn6849
10 ай бұрын
I wouldn’t say that she’s the worst, as her being smart and being a musician has been her main traits since the first season so having one of her siblings suddenly outshining her at the things that make her unique leading to her acting out doesn’t seem overly unrealistic
I honestly thought you'd put Maude's death at the top like you'd normally do
"This [episode] is about a community of people who like things just the way they are. Skinner's not really close to any of these people - you know, he's mostly a minor character in their lives - but they get upset when someone comes in and says, 'This is not really the way things are', and they run the messenger out of town on the rail. When the episode aired, lo and behold, a community of people who like things just the way they are got mad. It never seems to have occurred to anyone that this episode is about the people who hate it." -Ken Keeler writer of The Principal and the Pauper
I laughed at most of these - guess I'm a horrible person lmao

Killing Maude off cuz the voice actress wanted more money to travel to Los Angeles from where she lived was legitimately so fucking petty
What about Burn's wardrobe made out of various animal skins? That little musical number was quite funny.
Excellent
that is what humour partly is about taking it far enough. most of the times they just got so way far, where it just gets stupid. and you often see where they try too play it somewhat serious..
That's certainly an interesting thumbnail choice
How exactly is Homer jumping the gorge on this list.
love you very much
How bad is the Simpsons compared to Family Guy involving the families and the people who they're associated with?
The moe nearly ending it all bits ARE NEVER funny
The whole disposing of toxic waste in the movie The Simpsons was so bad I couldn't even watch the rest of it
an implied fish fetish is "going too far". right.
The only scene I was able to stomach for a bit was that musical number in the episode "Saddlesore Galactica." Then seeing Homer getting out of that secret door, wondering if what he witnessed was real or all a dream. Till one of the elves popped up to respond that it was clearly not the latter. The ending of that scene was more humorous than anything. Homer: Was it real? Or was it just a wonderful dream? Elf: No dream! Lose the race, Fatboy!!!
I like large Marge
