You forget that in Grease Danny did try changing, earned a letterman sweater and was wearing it in front of everyone to show what he would do to win Sandy back. So the intro to You're The One That I Want, she was a greasers goddess and he was a Jock.

Indeed it will appear every other KZreadr chooses to ignore the dialogue before and the lyrics of the song since both make it’s not a one-sided change on Sandy‘s part. The character development makes both characters actually good role models.

While I won't strictly classify "The Breakfast Club" as a rom com, Bender's actions towards Claire are definitely inappropriate, and she understandably disliked him, only to inexplicably kiss him towards the end. I hope that she eventually broke things off, for her own sake.

He even assaulted her. Everyone brings up Sixteen Candles, where Ted and Caroline wake up in Ryan’s Royce and say that he assaulted her (though he was actually drunk, not recalling having had sex and was told by her what had happened), but in Breakfast Club, Bender hides under Claire’s desk and not only looks up her skirt, but touches her, in which he kicks him for doing so. Someone told me, “he just touched her leg” or something less inappropriate, but we saw her panties, and her skirt goes past her knees, so no way he’d see up her skirt by just her sitting down. And what’s worse was Molly Ringwald was 16 at the time and Judd Nelson was 25, so the underwear scene wasn’t her and she even said she had to tell her daughter it wasn’t her. I actually think if they cut that part out of the film, I think it’d be a better film. It’s a nothing scene and if they could just cut it like he was hiding under the table, it’d be better.

well, many romanticize certain toxic questionable behaviors because of romcoms and there are people who indeed looking up at characters from romcoms believing that this is the right thing to do and will allow them to help with their own love lives. in the old romantic comedies, toxic behavior was romanticized and there are guys who for sure take such problematic characters as role models.

Agreed, Molly Ringwald has stated that she feels uncomfortable with the casual sex assault and honophobia in Hughes' work. Bender never even apologises for his horrible behaviour towards Claire, and the film treats it as annoying, but harmless. The whole sexual assault and Bender peeping at Claire's underwear could easily be cut, and it would make their ending up together more plausible.

I don't agree with Rachel. Darcy was 10 times worse. She knew, if Rachel was talking so much about him that Rachel had a thing for Dex. She inserted herself into their friendship before things could come to fruition and she messed that up. No one deserves bad things to happen to them but Darcy deserved her comeuppance. Granted Rachel had her faults but she was just too silent about her feelings. She should have told Darcy to back off in the beginning.

We, the audience, are left to imagine if Summer ever showed up naked in his bed or did anything else to lead him on. You don't need to be in a relationship to hang out and go places or play house at IKEA. Tom wanted to believe Summer was leading him on to justify his entitlement.

Pretty much all rom com characters are terrible role models. I like when the actors playing them agree that the character is a creepy jerk. That is more interesting than the movie. Joseph Gordon-Leavitt telling the audience to watch the movie again and see how selfish Tom Hansen is was even better than the movie, which was also very good. The best romances are the ones where both of the lovers are terrible and they deserve each other as each other's bad karma, like Ross and Rachel on Friends.

Funny how I've never seen a movie or TV character named "Rachel" that I have found remotely tolerable. Regarding Bridget Jones: yes, characters are supposed to be flawed, but when flaws are ALL THE CHARACTER HAS -- when she's like, 100% flaws, without a single strength beyond "cute" and "quirky" -- there's a problem. Unfortunately, too many writers go to extremes with their female characters, making them superwomen with no observable flaws or screw-ups with no observable virtues. Neither extreme offers us a believable, well-written character.

Beca's problem is that she's too impatient. She thinks she knows everything and refuses to go to classes to learn what she needs to learn to GET that record label job in LA she really wants. She wants it all now now now now now and the movie gives it to her because she's the "heroine". Also the way she kept rejecting Jesse when all he wanted to do was help her is reminiscent of a guy asking a girl how to get to the library and she immediately responds with OMG I HAVE A BOYFRIEND! he deserved way better than her.

The most common and traditional iconic comedic character is The Clown. Extremely flawed to a ridiculous fault, they are designed to be laughed at, not looked up to. The Comedian, on the other hand, is the supposedly enlightened someone who points the audience to who or what should be laughed at. But then again men and women both can't help but falling for Bad Boys and Bad Girls.

From the top of my head. NOTE SOME OF THESE ARE MY FAVOURITES. Jenna Rink from 13 Going On 30- She wrecked her best friends wedding so she can have him for herself after she left him in the friendzone for 17 years. Mary Flores The Wedding Planner - How did she keep her job as a wedding planner when she destroyed someone else's wedding. Giselle from Enchanted- Her true love was already in love with someone else for 5 years and her actual true love dumped his girlfriend of 5 years for Giselle after knowing her for 3 days. Zachary Stiler She's All That- The guy was a jerk. Lucy Mortez While You Were Sleeping - Lucy acting like a crazy stalker and delusional. Melanie Micheals Sweet Home Alabama - She was engaged to a billionaire and dumped him at the altar yikes. Worst Anya Steele 50 shades franchise- She got involved with a guy who raped her like wtf.

I feel like Giselle shouldn't be put on this list though. While it sucks that Robert fell in love with Giselle and Giselle did the same with him back while he was with Nancy. Thing is sometimes you can't help but fall in love. If Giselle pursued Robert and got him in the end that is one thing. But, Giselle was willing to have Robert be with Nancy without saying that she loved him. Even Robert was willing to be with Nancy as well. Though it also seems like he had no idea that he loved her till he had to kiss Giselle but he still didn’t want to betray Nancy till she told him that it was okay. It just happened to be circumstance that brought them together because Narcissa was trying to kill Giselle and the only way to bring her back was true love's first kiss. Yeah, they did fall in love with each other in 3 days which Robert said can never happen. But, even in real life people can fall in love and get engaged shortly after meeting it just depends. Lol It was also obvious that Giselle didn’t want to break Edward’s heart either.
