Exactly. A cameo is short, typically uncredited roll. As far I can see, these are all simply guest stars or, as already said, supporting cast.

Likewise, Knight Rider was on for two or three seasons before David Hasselhoff and William Daniels (voice of KITT) ever met and the meeting was at some event unrelated to the show. Come to think of it, surprising that Hasselhoff never did a cameo on TBBT.

nah Sheldon Drunk dialing Steven Hawking is the best. Actually anything with Drunk Sheldon is Aces in my book.

I can't believe Bob Newhart wasn't higher on this list. He was one of the best guest. Billy Bob's character was hilarious. Adam West killed it, "I never had to say I'm Batman. I showed up. People knew I was Batman. All those other guys had muscles built into their costumes. All I had in my Batsuit was 100%, grade-A West." James Ear Jones was hysterical, "I love Star Wars too." And Will Wheaton, as many times as he was on the show should have been at the top.

Thankfully I can say that I've met West and Nimoy. As for the others in that list, never had the pleasure.

I'm surprised Kathy Bates and Teller were not even honorable mentions. I just about died with Teller, after decades of NEVER speaking, speaks for the first time at Sheldon and Amy's wedding. Not sure how that moment did make the top 20.

@@gabss1517 To be fair, TBBT aired him before TWD did, so it was a bit part, not a cameo. If the episode of TBBT aired AFTER his appearance on TWD, THEN it would be a cameo.

That was hilarious

Stephen Hawking's line about getting bored from sitting in a chair for 40 years is one of the best lines ever. It show the man had a great sense of humor.

I thought Katey Sagal as Penny's mother was a nice touch given their common '8 simple rules' involvement.

This show is a really wonderful gem. I always watch it whenever it’s on. My favorite cameo was Brent Spiner, at Wil Wheaton’s party. Plus, Keith Caradine as Penny’s father was spot-on perfect! And Brian George as Raj’s father was perfect casting, as well.

Bob Newhart should have been much MUCH higher on this list. You are talking about a TV legend, with TWO successful, memorable shows on the same network as TBBT and he earned an Emmy with his role on TBBT. No way he's not at least in the top 10, if not the top 5. MsMojo, once again you did not fail to disappoint.

Newhart and Wheaton shouldn't have been on the list at all because they were recurring characters and not cameos. And really, a cameo is supposed to mean just a quick appearance. Most of these were guest stars rather than cameos.

The last episode of Newhart when he wakes up next to Suzanne Pleschette was one of my very favorite scenes EVER! I was barely old enough to remember the original show and watched every episode of this one, so I knew what it meant. Wow. Freaking amazing television!

I love this show so much, and I watch it every single day. I'm on my ninth time around, and still laugh. I think all the cameos are so great, but my favorite, not really sure why, is the Michael Rapaport cameo in season nine episode six.

I am surprised that Lieutenant Commander Data didn't even get an honorable mention.

I would have loved to have seen Leonard Nimoy in physical presence on the show who was my favorite for many years since "Star Trek" first came on back in 1969. I loved him due to his unusual appearance and his delivery lines. Always "logical never emotional" which made my interest be that way.

I like Stan Lee when he appears in one episode of Big Bang Theory given us the best and awesome memorable moment ever in the tv show of Big Bang Theory in all the time

I knew Stephen Hawking would be number one! I’ll never forget when he died and I saw on Twitter the official account for The Big Bang Theory as well as nearly all of the cast members expressing their sorrow at his passing. RIP Stephen. You were truly one of the best!

IMO with the exceptions of Raj's many girlfriends, all the 'family' supporting cast were perfect, especially Sheldon's mom, Penny's dad and Leonard's mom.

I knew who would be #1, but seriously, Bob Newhart should be far higher!

For How Long CBS had this show it's nothing short of a miracle same applies to Modern Family on ABC

Bob Newhart was the best cameo on the show I always loved his deadpan sarcasm.

Mojo forgot Brent Spiner, who tore open Sheldon's Wil Wheaton doll, then charged them $20 for one of his own.

James Earl Jones, Buzz Aldrin, Carrie Fisher, George Takei, Billy Bob Thornton, Mark Hamill, Leonard Nimoy and Stan Lee are my personal favorites.

I have loved watching Bob Newhart for alot of years so, seeing him doing a character on The Big Bang Theory was fantastic!!!!

I loved seeing Neil Gaiman on BBT!

While other shows have generally amazing guest stars, I love how TBBTs guest stars are so ingrained to the characters work and fantasies...

Of all the guest stars "Bob Newhart was the best-supporting guest star ever and loved his dry humor that will never be forgotten.

This show got me through s0 many dark c0vid days, I laughed so hard I cried. Thank you.

James Earl Jones, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Stephen Hawking, LeVar Burton and Bill Nye the Science Guy were the ones I screamed in delight about!

They may not be 'famous' in the same sense as many of the actors on the list, but an honorable mention should go to the cameos of the three real-life Nobel laureates Kip Thorne, George Smoot (who appeared on the show before and is a big fan of the show) and Frances Arnold during season 12

You didn't mention NBA player for the LA Lakers who was Bernadette's professor. That was the funniest BBT ever (imo) but I can't recall his name at the moment.

I LOVED it when James Earl Jones was on TBBT! I love his voice; I could listen to him talk all day!

I always scream every time I see not just the Star Wars cast, but every time I see LeVar Burton and Bill Nye, for “Reading Rainbow” and “Bill Nye the Science Guy” were some of my all time favorite kids’ shows growing up. In elementary school we were always watching Bill’s videos for science lessons and he was so funny we were always roaring with laughter. And my school district has its own tv channel and way back then on certain days of the week a popular kids show would air, like Wishbone (a “talking” Jack Russel terrier who would reenact popular children’s books) and Reading Rainbow, and those days were my favorite. LeVar was just so charismatic to me and traveling all around the world and showing how cool things were really opened up the world for me and became my favorite

3 that I love that didn't make the list: Eliza Dushku - Portrays an FBI agent designated to assess Security Clearance for Howard. It does not go well. Christopher Lloyd - Portrays a tramp who briefly moves in with Penny and Leonard during a possession war with Sheldon.
