Glad to see you back, Fahrenheit, Eau Sauvage, Jacomo de Jacomo, Polo Green, Calvin Klein Calvin, Lagerfeld Classic, Bijan, those are my favorites, last year I bought vintage bottles of all those. From the ones in the video haven't tried any but I need to try G L'INSTANT DE GUERLAIN but the ones that I been watching on eBay are $250+ so I will get the new one, I don't know how different it is from the OG but it's a lot cheaper. Welcome back! What a trip down memory lane... How do you feel about Patou Pour Homme and Patou Pour Homme Prive? I have a couple of bottles of PPH, used to be my signature scent back in the day, but I rarely reach for it now. The Prive version I had a decant of and used it up a long time ago.

Welcome back! From your list fragrances that I enjoyed and had through the 80s and 90s were Smalto, Iquitos, Van Cleef, Rive Gauche, Versus, KL, M Kors, Balenciaga, Basil, Farenheit. All wonderful. Two from the 80s that I rarely hear about that I miss are the original Clinique for men, Tailoring (and later Chemistry) and Halston’s Catalyst. Have you tried those?

This was a great vid! I have sense memories of VC&A as well as Iquitos. Those were the days when even designer colognes were well-blended powerhouses. The DNAs did not rely on synthetics, weren’t overly sweet and were masculine. Thanks for this!

I first heard of Mauboussin Generation M from you, in a video almost a year ago I suppose by now. Was so intrigued I got samples. Loved it. Then I got five more samples, just to enjoy it a while longer. I don't suppose I'll keep getting samples, but I'll enjoy what I've got left.

What a great list Seb. I would only add vintage M7 which I own, I have bought it 35€ 50ml, it is a great fragrance.

You are excellent in rating and explaining fragrances man.

Great video, you cover some fragrances I've never heard of. Carnation has become less used because its component, eugenol is now restricted to a lower percentage, I think it's the reason.

Discontinued designer fragrances from the 90s and early 00s would be considered neiche fragrances today they were so good.

This was great. There are vintage scents I want to get for reference. KL for women was notable to me as was Fendi. Would you say there are many similarities between his and hers of the KL? I wonder what are your thoughts on the Bijon scents? There are a lot of similarities between his/hers. I know you enjoy doing alike episodes I think current vs the vintage alikes would be great!

I don't know whether it would be classified as vintage but Bvlgari Pour Homme has been discontinued and I am going to deeply miss it when the inventory runs out. This has been my signature scent since the late 90's and I still wear it till this day.

Great topic. VC&A is a personal favorite. Original Nino Cerutti (1979) discontinued in the 80s & the original Ungaro pourl'Homme (1991) are beautiful and hard to find.

You did a top 20 French niche houses. A good one to do would be a top 20 middle eastern niche houses list.

Iquitos smelled A-mazing. 'Loved KL too. Years ago, H & M did do a short-lived exclusive relaunch of KL. Versus was awesome too. Also loved Colors de Benetton, and Hardy Amies Gentlemen's.

I miss Green Jeans too. Couldn't agree more with M Generation. Honestly stowed that bottle away and haven't used it in years because I don't wanna lose it. So many great fragrances on this list, it's just sad to see what they've replaced with. I really do think that we've outlived the last great perfume renaissance. It's a whole new ballgame now.

I should add: I love many discontinued men's fragrances (some of my favorites include: Valentino Vendetta Uomo, Ho Hang from Balenciaga, Monsieur de Givenchy, Luciano Pavarotti by Luciana Pavarotti, and Tsar by VCA) so I loved getting this list! I have two of these that I love (Balenciaga Pour Homme and Monsieur Balmain), but the rest are new to me--some, I see, are quite expensive on-line, but some are affordable from discount sources or other Internet sources.

Nice list. The fragrances I miss the most are: Versace Versus Uomo, Joop! What about Adam, Lagerfeld Jako, Gucci Envy, Dsquared Wild, Versace Black Jeans, Joop! Nightflight, Trussardi Python

I’ve got YSL Live Jazz and absolutely loved What about Adam, although not as much as the feminine targeted All about Eve. That is amazing.

Fantastic list. I can't be without my Insense and have gone through a few bottles since the mid '90's. It is getting harder to find, though! I also miss Gucci Envy, Gucci Pour Homme II, YSL M7 (the Tom Ford version), Dolce and Gabbana Pour Homme vintage formulation and the original Armani Eau Pour Homme.

I'm really surprised you never mention Halston Catalyst. That was one of my favorite 1990's scents. It was eventually purchased by EA Fragrances and naturally reformulated into something not as complex. Other than that, I would add Lagerfeld Photo, Pierre Cardin Musk, Paul Sebastian VSOP and Coty's Raw Vanilla.

The original Gucci Pour Homme , 1978 release not sure who the perfumer was but for some reason i thought it might be Guy Robert ? that was a great fragrance and i think even today it would smell great.

Sebastian, I forgot, I would also recommend to you to try two more Balenciaga HO HANG and HO HANG CLUB!

although it’s nothing complicated I LOVE the original classic Armani Eau de Toilette particularly in the summer. It’s so classic and I still can’t believe that it’s gone disco ☹️ also Gucci Rush men great winter scent 😔😔

Dolce&Gabbana By for men, Pour Homme (1994), Sicily for women 2003 Armani Attitude Gentleman (1974) Givenchy FYI in 2020, this happened Basile Uomo Intense, haven't try this one but I wanted to put it on the map

I've got B*Men a long time ago. ANGEL Thierry Mugler was my favourite fragrance in the 90s. I sprayed B*Men on a cotton ball and kept it in my bedroom for several days. I loved it. However, I would not apply it on myself - too masculine.

Loved Insense and Iquitos My all time favorite Pino Silvester cologne,terrible remastered 🥲the cologne with the brown top was amazing.

Back in the early 90s my uncle used to wear a cologne called Franco. I can't find anything about it. Is it part of Gianfranco?? To the best of my recollection it came in a dark green or maybe brown bottle. It smelled amazing, I have never forgot that scent through the years and never knew of anyone else to wear it. Can anyone please help with this??

I owned a bottle of KL Homme also,and have found memories of the scent. The Michael Kors fragrance smells fantastic with a leather jacket.

DK Fuel for Men ugh miss this, so many compliments on that. Cool bottle too.

VC&A PH is so gothic and dark. I fell in love with it when I first smelled it. Another great men's vintage fragrance is Lapidus PH.

Carolina Herrera Aqua is one that was sadly discontinued and is my all time favourite. I think that not very popular in iits time, but was great and original aroma with awesome perfomance. I also think that biggest part of A*men flanker should be available again, cause I didnt buyed in the time and I wish almost all of them.

Van Cleef and Arpels Pour Homme is my fav. It's hefty. I recently pick up Passion for Men Cologne spray by Elizabeth Taylor and wow!

I've always been curious about Iquitos when I heard about it years ago as a Delon frag but I'm simply not willing to pay through the nose for it.

Monsieur Balmain actually goes back even earlier to its original formulation in 1964 by the great Germaine Cellier, one of the greatest parfumeurs of the twentieth century.

Still have a few drops of Lanvin Avant Garde and i often put my nose with nostalgia in my 2010 Fahreneith, empty bottle for years but it still got scent left. Too bad that, back then i didn't anticipate a potential discontinuation ( sorry if it's not english i'm french) ^^'

There was a Calvin Klein in a dark navy blue bottle from the 80's and it still grinds me that they discontinued that one

I am late to the Balenciaga perfume game, last year I rushed to different department store counters, a SA kindly told me the brand last year's strategy was to get rid of the whole perfume line, and where I could try my luck.

L´Instant Guerlain au extreme was sooo amazing :)

Van Cleef & Arpels has been and still is my favorite men fragrance for at least 35 years.

Fahrenheit Absolute is great with a different petrol accord. Roccobarrocco Joint is classy. I would like for Andromeda and Andron to reappear. 👍

I so miss LIDGEE! The current EDP is a ghost of its former self. It's not bad, but wearing it just makes me miss the original. If I were making a list like this, it would definitely include Paco Rabanne's Tenere.

Valentino just had a new release for 2022 called "Born in Roma Coral Fantasy'. I contacted them and asked them why it wasn't on the shelves yet ....and they told me it's already DISCONTINUED??!! It's listed on Fragrantica as well as a new release. ( I still have a bottle of Gucci Envy stashed away)

Yeah I really loved M Generation. by chance, @the perfume guy don't you know where I could find the very last one still on sale. Lol

I guess carnation was like the ambroxan of its time. Very prevalent.

Clearly YSL M7, Gucci Envy, Tom Ford Amber Absolute. I still have near complete bottles of the original LIDGE and Fahrenheit Absolute.
