@@zhye5588 it's personal preference and I respect your opinion. But, the fact is that, it got nominated for several Emmy awards and have also won some. And it has an imdb rating of 8.9 and rotten tomato score of 90% (only well written shows has that kind of rating) and the acting, plot and characters are acclaimed by audiences as well as critics.

@@Patrickbatemanharvard dont get me wrong, i did like the 2nd season. But the series is far from the greatest. Maybe its just me but I undervalue Imdb ratings and tomato meter i just use it as an indicator. After all anyone without sense of quality can rate a 10/10 on imdb and tomato meter is just percentage of critics that gave it a 6/10 or higher. Emmys hold no value in my eyes just like oscars its just a Hollywood ppl thing.

@@zhye5588 again I respect your opinion. But the film and television academy consists of 6000 experienced film experts from worldwide and based on their voting the film/tv series is elected as best. And they are far more experienced than any of normal audience and from them what I've learned is that, they do recognize good writing and acting, which are the core elements in a film or tv series. I've found their judgement satisfactory in 8/10 scenarios. And also you've mentioned that anyone can vote 10/10 in Imdb, that's true, but average rating is based on thousands of votings, So I don't think that few reviews can alter the whole system.

@@Mr.Walrus23 the writing the acting, that not only do you get a view from key historical figures, that much of it actually comes from a roman every man view point also centers the series in a way that was cool. Demonstrates the classes that existed and how all navigated within it. it was visually stunning, especially the opulence of homes of the upper class, so much so that you could see how well off they were, and historically how advanced the romans were. Compare that with the middle-ages life and even the renaissance, the romans had better medicine, better notions of hygiene. Take all the intrigue of the best political series, add some of the best military campaigns in human history, there is seedy street criminals (sopranos /breaking bad) some of the best buddy adventures and add the best content of the history channel and you can see why the series can be great

@@Mr.Walrus23 ps i re-watched mindhunter, and it climbed to Number 2, especially the Cameron Britton portrayal of Ed Kemper, having viewed footage of the real Ed Kemper and I must say I was gobsmacked by his evocation, as well as the brilliant performances across all characters. It is not higher as I feel it is incomplete and while the lone 2 seasons are amazing, it feels that more needs telling

@@SRVaughan1003 Alright, I am sold. Always had an intrique for the Roman empire and the Ancient history in general, so your reply just convinced me even further to reinstate my HBO membership. Btw, I enjoyed the Mind Hunters as well, and I still have high hopes that a third season will emerge sooner or later. Though I would not quite place the series in my top 10 list, but it is certainly up there. Perhaps a rewatch could pump its spot higher.

@@Mr.Walrus23 For Mindhunter, I have had 4 go-arounds, and the last time it stemmed from documentary footage of Kemper, that I literally asked myself if he played himself, that I re-watched, and I got more immersed in it. Currently giving Marco Polo a watch and it too is great (other than it being a Weinstein production)

Much respect you have the Leftovers at #4. I’ve always said it shows the full potential of Lindelof without network restrictions and commercial breaks. Doesn’t have the pop culture fame of Lost, but doesn’t have the plot holes either. Absolute masterpiece.

European series like Dark and Peep Show are fantastic. Dark is named one of the best works Netflix ever did. Many say Peep Show is a disgusting british show, but is a realistic story of two brits in an original view. At least this two should be a honorable mention.

Breaking Bad is the perfect Tv show made ever. It just got better and better with every episode and every season. There will never be any other show topping BB.

I got The Sopranos, The Wire and Madmen over Breaking Bad because in my opinion Breaking Bad nothing compares to the first time you watch it but the other 3 tv shows I mentioned get better everytime you rewatch them. I had watched Breaking Bad like 4 times already but it still doesnt compare to the first time I saw it. The Wire, Madmen and Sopranos maybe they didnt improved each season like Breaking Bad but they improved everytime I rewatched them again. Breaking Bad doesnt get worse but it is like a hard drug lol meth, H and crack where it impacts you the first time but you will always chase that amazing feeling. The 3 shows I mentioned are like art.

Person Of Interest is top 5 imo. The only negative is it was obvious they were forced to end it quickly. Plot development within plots. Great character development. They had to kill off characters quick due to top execs pulling the plug but they did great with what they had to work with.

Great list, would personally add Succession and Severance - still ongoing but they are so enthralling!

@@mondaybores1547 It fails in it's pursuit of brilliance, it gets lost, it isn't that well written. Season 1 is among my personal favourites, but afterwards show loses its own prime motive. It's not a brilliant afterwards.

The writing in Better Call Saul is at times even more impressive than that of Breaking Bad. But I assume it didn't make the list because season 6 isn't out yet.

With GOT i agree, yes. But ending of lost was great and made total sense imo.

I personally think one of the best tv shows ever made was NBC's Hannibal it at least deserved an honorable mention. It was way ahead of its time and still to this day a timeless tv show. The writing and cinematography was phenomenal .

Highly underrated show

I don't know all the tv shows, watched a few and my favorites are here, except for Vikings. For me Vikings is one of the best, if not top of the list. It is much more than a historic hack and slash action show. It showcases with great details the life and the philosophies of that time. It is a show of great characters, of ambition, humility, understanding, adventure, exploration and everything that makes us human, full of historical specificities. It is suspenseful, dramatic, philosophical, a game of chess, a romantic saga. It can get tedious at times, given it's length, but oh man, is it glorious.

It captures the geek and nerd culture beautifully and shows the harsh reality of emerging startups in Silicon Valley. And for Mr. Robot, I don't know how to explain the greatness of the show. It's a genre in itself.

I have never laughed so hard at anything than the very end of the invisible car gag in Atlanta. That was a brilliant set up and ending and just cemented how good Atlanta was for me.

I don’t think people understand the impact The Sopranos had as a series that everyone in production thought was gonna tank and instead went on to be one of the greatest shows. That said, Boardwalk Empire was also a great series

People forget about OZ. It came first and in HBO

The Wire will go down in history as a masterpiece.. Unmatched writing and depictions of bureaucratic institutions. I’ve watched the entire series several times and pick-up on something new each time. Also launched some great acting careers. Breaking Bad was fine and, unfortunately, gets compared to The Wire too often. They are completely different shows.

24 was the most addictive show ever. Each episode drew me into the next, and before I knew it, I was up all night. My work suffered. 😆 But the best show ever was Breaking Bad, no contest.

It is easily a top 5 series this century. But this is Mojo who would put Friends as being the best series in the last decade. All they care is popular opinion, not quality.

I agree with the list but how has nobody mentioned Supernatural. I think it deserves at least an honorable mention. I loved that show, start to finish.

definitely agree about The Wire... but I think Better Call Saul & Dexter deserve a mention at least

I’m not arguing with this list, but I’m here to make some recommendations! The 100 s1-4, The OA, hand maids tale, FEAR TWD, last of us, queen of the south, BANSHEE, warrior,are all some of my re watchable favs not mentioned. A couple of these are lacking in later seasons.. but the first several seasons are great. Also HTGAWM is a secret fav of mine because viola Davis is bomb.

Barry is so, so good...I'm actually out searching for similar great shows...the final episode was season 3 was insane

Mr. Robot, Chernobyl, Band of Brothers, Downton Abbey, Dark, Years and Years....

I can’t believe how little people have seen Dark, genuinely one of the greatest tv shows made of all time, i’ve never seen a film or show that’s actual writing is mind blowing, i haven’t got a clue how anyone could ever write that show and make it make sense 10/10 writing 10/10 directing 10/10 acting 10/10 cinematography 10/10 soundtrack 10/10 editinf 10/10 production design, costume design etc quite literally perfect also where the hell is Better Call Saul and Bojack Horseman?

It’s one of those flawless shows that answers all the questions you had. Some people just can’t keep up I guess & obviously everyone has an opinion so it is what it is.. but it definitely deserves a spot and a shit ton of comments on this video agree

Glad that the sopranos got the respect it deserves. Even though i prefer brba but sopranos was in the mind of the creators of brba while creating it. I give it to nostalgia

To me the Leftovers and Breaking Bad are tied for number one. BB was awesome but The leftovers was something special...for such a short series, it had more WTF? moments than any other show I've seen. Both are infinitely re-watchable.

The fact that animation is discounted is a disservice, because it excludes some amazing shows like Bojack Horseman, Moral Orel and other masterpieces. Animation isn’t a genre, it’s a medium to create art.

_Deadwood_ absolutely deserves its spot here, and deserves to be on any all-time list. The writing, acting, direction, every aspect is absolutely sublime and the frequent description as "Shakespearean" is spot-on. But, one nitpick... _Chappelle's Show_ as the "most important sketch comedy show of all time"? _Monty Python's Flying Circus_ would like a word.

There should be a subtitle of most “Popular Best Shows”. Meh.

marlin Williams nah it took all the character development and intense, nuanced dialogue and just flushed it all to force relationships and make their predetermined endpoint make sense. There’s SOOOOOO many things that make it terrible

But I and some others on the web agree that it's the most raw piece of entertainment depicting the human experience. It literally is art personified. And for that aspect is deserves the highest praise because it deviates from other shows. It doesn't have to have the most spectacular twists and writing. It just is breathtakingly majestic in it's simplicity and rawness
