I just want to give props to Madge Sinclair who voiced Sarabi, Simba's mother in The Lion King. Not only is her voice amazing and a perfect pairing to Mufasa (She also played the queen to James Earl Jones' King in Coming To America), but she did it while battling leukemia. She died in 1995.

The tiny little cameo when Yzma was turned into a cat was homage to her role as Catwoman in the 60s Batman. Julie Newmar was unable to reprise her role As Catwoman do to I think her working on another film. So Miss Eartha Kitt was brought in and she made a wonderful Catwoman. The lovely fact that she could purr like a cat just add to a great role. As well as I believe she was made for that role since her last name has the letters for kitten.

Sorry, but Tarzan's yell was in fact provided by Tony's co-star, Brian Blessed, who voiced the villain Clayton. Blessed was leaving the recording studio one afternoon after voicing his own lines, when he overheard poor Tony becoming hoarse with trying and failing to do the Tarzan yell in his own recording session next door. Blessed offered to give it a try himself, and the resulting yell was so good that Disney kept it in the movie. I guess all those decades of projecting his voice right to the back of the theatre in Shakespearean plays paid off.

I have to say this line-up of voice-over actors were absolutely amazing dynamic and brought each and every character to life. My favorites are and forever will be James Earl Jones as Mufasa and Robin Williams as Genie

Well, not always, since Dan Castelleneta and Will Smith (as well as everyone who's played him in the theater versions) have also played the role, but Williams was undoubtedly the best at it.

I think Minnie Driver as Jane in Tarzan deserves to be mentioned if we’re going on the sense of authenticity. Cause she IS perfect.

Agreed. Not only because she was authentic, but because she actually improvised a lot of Jane's dialogue. Basically, she threw out Disney's original stereotypical damsel-in-distress and made up her own Jane. And we LOVED it!

Great list, but 3 more very special voice performances are: Ed Wynn (The Mad Hatter) Alice in Wonderland 1951, Peter Ustinov (Prince John) Robin Hood 1973, & Eleanor Audley was Lady Tremaine in Cinderella 1950, as well as Maleficient in Sleeping Beauty 1959, as well as providing the voice for Madame Leota in the Haunted Mansion park attractions.

I knew full well that Robin would be number one, as deserved. He was the first top actor to make an animated movie something special, and his struggle with his role as genie is something I highly recommend people look into! Aladdin will forever be my favourite Disney movie, and that's thanks to him.

I read once in an interview that Vincent Price made not long before his passing, that of all the characters he portrayed in his long career, his absolute top-favourite of all was Professor Ratigan. The reason being twofold: One, he loved doing voice-over anyway, since he could take it as far as he wanted as an actor, and go into directions that he might not otherwise be able or comfortable to do in a live-action film; he _loved_ being able to just really lay it on as thick as he wanted, that there really was no 'going over the top.' And with Ratigan, he was free to just really pull out all the stops & go as far as he wanted, which was a great freedom for an actor to enjoy. He said he also liked the character's psychological makeup: On the surface, Ratigan put up this facade of being polished & sophisticated & debonair, but underneath it all, he was still basically a slimy sewer-rat (as he ultimately reveals by the end, revealing his inner, bestial nature.) Throughout the film, Ratigan is constantly repressing this inner 'bestial' nature (revealed by him constantly massaging his temples every time he _almost_ loses his temper before repressing it) until finally all that repressed animal rage breaks through to the surface during the climactic fight on Big Ben. Price said he really loved that 'dual' aspect of the character, said he personally felt it had some interesting & noteworthy parallels to the human species as well. And, while not mentioned in this video, but in my opinion Honourable Mention should be made of the late, great George C. Scott as the voice of the evil poacher McLeach in "The Rescuers Down Under." In many ways, his portrayal of the character was the high point of an otherwise mostly mediocre movie (though it did have some brilliant animation in it.) Watching the movie & listening to his performance, it's really obvious that Scott put everything he had into it, really had a ball doing it and in more than one scene, you can tell the animators studied Scott very closely in animating the character (the scene where he's trying to keep some eggs away from his pet goanna Joanna, is priceless! You forget you're watching an animated character & you feel like you're actually watching Scott himself playing the part!)

Jeremy Irons was perfect as Scar! I love Chiwetel Ejiofor and he probably could have worked in the 2019 version but when he wasn't making Scar sound emo, he got a little yelly in places like the stampede scene where tells Mufasa "Long live the king." Before pushing him (or in 2019 punching) off the cliff. Jeremy Irons made Scar just so charming, delightfully evil and bone-chilling.
