Wow. Bubble Bobble was years ahead of it's time. Tight gameplay and great music. Most arcade games of the 80s hurt my ears.

Great video mate! So many classics in one year! For me '86 will always be the year of Outrun. I just love that game. Pure masterpiece!

I love Bubble Bobble but OUTRUN is by far the greatest arcade game of 1986. Not only because it is an amazing game but because of the incredible technical leap the game represented. SEGA arcade games were always well ahead of the other companies (just look at the other games in the video!) but OUTRUN is one of THE most influential games in history. Plus it has the most iconic soundtrack of all time! Also, "Renegade" was released in 1987, Kunio-kun was released in 1986.

yeah tough call ..im a huge fan of both and also arkanoid...I play bobble daily as I have the taito legends on ps 2 such a colourful and simplistic and very addictive...1= would not be out of place in this countdown

Sega was the best arcade company in the 80's. Capcom in the late 80s and early 90s.

bubble bobble and rygar were my fav's from that yr, never cared for outrun, I was never into racing games unless they had weapons in them like mariokart,road blasters or spyhunter.

Great video. Takes me back to being a kid. So many good games came out in 86.

in that year of 86 were released many classics that entered into the history of games.

Quite the year for arcade games, 1986. Incidentally, Salamander was called Life Force in the US.

i seem to recall of a few of these with different names.....

Juegos con volante, volantes, manillar, rueda, joystick giratorio, varias pantallas,... Definitivamente, algunas experiencias son irrepetibles.

The good stretch of games near the end saved this year!! It was pretty ugh for 2/3 of it.

Really wanted to love 720, the music was awesome, like could / should have been a terminator soundtrack, and game looked awesome, but couldn't ever "get control" of the game... anyone else same issue?

Probablemente el año que más jugué a los arcades. Para mí el mejor fue Iron horse sin duda, por muchos motivos. Y no me puedo creer que no hayas puesto Xaind Sleena un juegazo de aquel año. Lo popular no siempre es lo mejor, creo. Yo no soportaba algunos de la lista ja ja. Saludos.

El Xaind Sleena y el Chiller los tenía en mi primera lista. El primero lo quité porque tiene algunos bugs y en algunas zonas me se ralentiza mucho, puse a break thru que me parece un juego más sólido en lo jugable. Y el Chiller lo quité por la violencia. Es difícil hacer un TOP en este año..., dependerá de tú edad, pero es que los del primer puesto son prácticamente mis juegos favoritos de la infancia... Wonder Boy, Ikariwarriors, Outrun y Bobble Bubble.

Bueno, es difícil como tu dices. Pero a este año le tengo mucho cariño y aún así a parte de Xain Sleena hay juegazos como Trojan, Legendary Wings, Solomons Key, Dangar, Kyros, Tokio y más que me parecen bastante mejores que muchos de la lista, pero claro eso siempre es subjetivo y depende de los que haya jugado uno en aquella época, pues le tiene más cariño a unos que a otros. Iron horse solo por la música que es una obra maestra de los arcades ochenteros ya merece estar en el top 5. Para mí es mejor hacer listas sin top, es decir, sin número de orden: así te ahorras problemas para razonar porque es mejor el 7 o el 8, por ejemplo, ja, ja.

I pretty sure that was the original Outrun not Outrun 2. Outrun came out in 1986 and Outrun 2 in 2003.

What I wouldn`t give for a working copy (MAME rom) Of Rolling Thunder... ;(

Necesito el nombre de un juego. Es de temática como el Ghost and Goblins pero de perspectiva aérea como el Dark Adventure. Pero sus gráficos no superan a Ramón 3 jaj. Arcade 80's y el protagonista es un calvo de rojo. Con un power Up quedaba de torso descubierto y pantalones amarillos.

Iron Horse = Side Scrolling Hack & Lash Whip Em' Up.

Loved Darius, though the game itself hates giving me a fair chance. Same with Rygar (no continues past level 23...grrrr...and there were more levels after that...) Bubble Bobble is good fun. 720°. Loved the game and it's music, too bad I suck at that just the same. Gauntlet... never had enough coins to hang in there long enough. Seems like I enjoy games that I just can't win. Arkanoid.....can you say, "Doh!"?

Rampage is even funner on the Atari Lynx which I played more. Ikari Warriors......ABBA.....
