I know you said you weren't doing traditional documentaries, but that Disney nature documentary where after realizing that "Lemmings following each other to their death" was a myth, they pushed lemmings over cliffs themselves still haunts me to my core
You nailed it. Watching the list, I kept saying to myself if Cannibal Holocaust is not #1, I don't know what it. I've watched many disturbing films, but Cannibal Holocaust is by far one of the worst just because of the animal violence alone. It's on another level of disturbing.

I really hate these things, I'M AN ANIMAL LOVER FOR GOODNESS SAKE!
You forgot the Korean „The Isle“ where they cut out the flanks of a living fish and let him swim away like that. Also they threw a birdcage with a trapped little Bird inside in the water. And the Film „Bad Boy Bubby“.. I hope he didn‘t kill the cat, but.. And in the Movie „Brimstone“ a Pig is killed.
I saw the uncut version of Canibal Holocaust when i was a kid, my Grandfather showed it to me on Super 8, and the scene with the Turtle has stayed with me every since. I was horrified
There are two conflicting versions of the snake killing in Friday the 13th... The one were it was just a snake found on set, and the other is that they rented a pet snake from a local animal handler whom claims he was not told the snake would be killed, just that they wanted a snake for a scene.
I feel like a disgrace of an animal lover for enjoying The Adventures of Milo and Otis.
Not Milo and Otis! After 32 years I finally have an orange cat. My life long desire has been a lie.
Milo and Otis was one of my all time favorite movies growing up and the cause for my love of Pugs. This upset me so much, but looking back, I can see it where the issues would lie.
The sad part is, most of these were early enough to have used cgi. Look at 2005 King Kong.
This is so awful and so sad. Also, I can't believe that actors and the crew felt it was OK to do this
In Friday the 13th the snake was actually a pet of a crew member and and said crew member had no idea it was going to be killed. Ever since I found out I've felt a little conflicted about Tom Savini.

Well, you just missed the movie that holds the infamous record for the most animals killed on screen: the Mexican film "¡Tintorera!", in which more than a dozen tiger sharks, a stingray and several other animals were hunted down and killed in front of camera for the sake of moviemaking (most of them by local fishermen as part of their jobs, but it's still shocking).

Bit of a clarification - technically, nakji is not the same as an octopus species-wise. And yes, Koreans do still enjoy the dish to this day. However, the dish “seems” alive, but it’s not. As Fujiwara mentioned, it’s cut up - meaning that it’s dead beforehand. It seems animate due to its post-humous muscle contractions.
Hey kids, there's a really fun found footage movie called Cannibal Holocaust. In that little film we get to see a turtle brutally dismembered and cut away from its shell and a monkey get its face chopped off by a machete. I just watched Pink Flamingos a few days ago. Perfect timing. I think the animal most abused in that film is the human being, lol. I of course don't want harm to come to anything even if it means some sacrifices on my part, but on the other hand, meat is really tasty and it would be hard to do without even if I did vegetarianism off purely moral grounds. So, you know.

I know that the director wants the best for the living animal actors/actresses that are in movies and television today even though things were different back then, but sometimes director gets carryed away and unintentionally herts the animal actors/actresses. If you use live animals in movies or television please put the animals first because some animals don't live long, thus have shorter life's.
