Barshim jumped 2.40 while being less than 100% (back). His approach was only 4 running strides. When he is healthy he takes a longer 8 stride approach. Incredible.

When I was 12, 1957. Most people jump using eastern style or belly type. Long before the current flops, I jumped with a style with sideways and back over bar first. This didn’t work better. But it was different.

Not many things more beautiful.

@@chikaefobi3059 The women pretty much get to wear cheeky underwear and sports bras while the men are wearing longer shorts and loose shirts. People say women have to wear that because loose and longer clothing would make them not do as well. Clearly that is not the case.

Is earth loosing its gravitational pull?

I am not saying I’ll be up here in the world championship video but I’m 17 and I’ve got the right body shape. If I train intensely every day is there a chance I could compete low level college (I’d possibly be willing to go d2 if I can jump over a big school where I can’t) I have never jumped before but I’ve had people tell me I should. Is that possible? Thanks

Some of the 2.42's and 2.43 look like they were cleared by atleast a few centimeters. Maybe those jumps could have been higher than 2.47?

I noticed Barshim leaves the ground way far away from the bar...seems like 6” more would give him advantage

Actually if you go back and look at the footage Sotomayor hit the bar very heavily on the world record jump, he was an amazing jumper by the record jump was not clean.
