Shou Tucker also made his daughter believe that her mom pretty much abandoned her and wasn't contacting her since he told her that she left because he wasn't successful/rich as a state alchemist. Plus, he burnt the letters Nina wrote to her mom and pretty much made it seem like her mom didn't want anything to do with her since she never got a reply. For that reason, he was already being a horrible dad before he turned his daughter into a science experiment. Not to mention that in the 2003 series, he then keeps making knockoff Ninas that probably don't have a pleasant existence, which means he's watching them suffer and die, but keeps making them anyway. PLUS by trying to make a replacement, it seems like he views his daughter as replaceable, especially since I seem to remember him saying that he was going to make a Nina even better than the original. That's why I'd put him higher or the list. Nina deserved better.

James’ parents should’ve made the actual list. They forced him to marry Jessiebelle after finding him writing a love letter to her when he was young, faked their own deaths to trick their son into coming back home to marry Jessiebelle, and as revealed in the XY episode “Mending A Broken Spirit” it is revealed that James’ mother threw away his prized bottle cap collection which he probably spent years assembling. Seriously they should actually be on the list.

That was easily the weirdest scene in Kill La Kill....

Also, maybe we can squeeze in Isabella from Yakusoku no Neverland (The Promised Neverland) despite the fact that she did her job so well, raising multiple healthy, intelligent, and well behaved children. Even without the brain damage he suffered as an infant that may or may not have affected his ability to feel empathy, Low-class Saiyans don't have a brooding instinct in any way, shape, or form. They send their children off to fight as soon as they are born and don't even really have families. His father Bardock having a single, long-term mate was extremely unusual by Saiyan standards. This is actually why Vegeta is, in most circumstances, a better parent than Goku even though he is a colder, less moral person. The Saiyan royal family had a tradition of the father raising and bonding with the son, ergo Vegeta understands far better than Goku how important it is to children, especially male children, to have an active father-figure in their lives.

FINALLY!!! Someone else against Gendo Ikari. For the longest time I've felt like I was Spiderman in that meme. Everyone else is out there hating on Shinji, and I'm just sitting here saying that Gendo is the worst. "But he's trying to think about the big picture, and save the human race" whines the straw man commenter. That may well be says I, but he is still a terrible parent who is never there for his son, never makes an effort to improve, never makes up for his bad parenting, oh yeah, and FORCES HIS CHILD AS WELL AS OTHER CHILDREN TO SACRIFICE THEIR LIVES FIGHTING GIANT KILLER MONSTERS!!! I've always loathed Gendo Ikari. I honestly think that Second Impact caused some irreparable harm to human empathy, but Gendo pushing forward a potential defense for mankind seems to have given him broad license in the minds of those who associated with him. It's the only motive I can assign for none of them giving the twisted shit Excedrin Headache #.308 if you follow my meaning.

I love this comment. I watched evangelion a few years back, and I felt for shinji. He had the most awful, disgusting parent. And everytime he told someone how awful his dad was? They’d say he’s complaining, ungrateful, and selfish. I’m watching this show and just baffled by everyone. He has trust issues because his dad was mia for 16 years?! He has a right to be cautious and wary of people because his dad never showed an iota of love for him once the mom died. No cards, or phone call until the second impact. It made sense that he didn’t wanna live with him. Because gendo’s first order after seeing his child years later is: “get in the robot!”

I think something that twists the knife even further with the number 1 is that their son, Hayate is such a good kid. He's friendly, kind and selfless. He's the kind of person you DON'T want bad things like that happening to.

Nagisa's Mom reminds me of my Mom... Like, the only difference is that I was actually BORN female. That and she was never PHYSICALLY abusive. That's the ONLY differences between Nagisa's relationship with his Mom and my relationship with my Mom. -_- The whole "I birthed and raised you, so you should be grateful" thing is COMPLETELY on point. Not to mention he is also a HUGE hypocrite. For all his talks about wanting his offspring to be strong Judge himself is a coward that cannot fight unless backed by his subordinates (Who he is willing to sacrifice as human shields) and when faced with death cries like a baby. Even better, he let Sanji go away as a child as long as he didn't talk about his past and then, years later had the guts to use his son as a pawn in an arranged marriage. The worst thing? Seeing how the current arc has been developing he will probably go unpunished.

Medusa did showed her bits of "Love" in the anime and manga It is revealed mostly in the manga, but also (and mostly in the anime) is when Crona become the powerful weapon And Ragyo done it worse, she did the same thing to her own children, but she *molest* her daughters and you know how it appears to have 2 daughters (and 1 made of life fibers), well, guess what? There's should be a few more children but as soon as they were born, she just experiment them immediately until it's a success or a failure. And if they fail, meaning that they died, she threw them away, as if they were garbage and move on to make another!

He told his father his true reason why and told him *he believed his son.* But when he got to the principal's office, he told them how "Terrible" his son was, and he even "Counterfeit" art and paintings! Imagine if that happens when you were, like 8 years old and heard how much one of your parents betrayed you after you told the truth

Rido Kuran from vampire knight was a pretty crappy farther by : possessing his son almost killing his sons girlfriend (she got saved thank god) having his fiance imprisoned having multiple affairs trying to eat his niece (*DID I MISS ANYTHING OUT*)

In regards to number one, you know what the sad part is? People like that do exist in real life. I should know, back when my parents were still together my mother had to get a job to support me and my siblings because my father refused to work. In fact he would rather spend my mom's hard earned money on cigarettes and beer, granted my mom tried to find work for my dad but for some reason he passes his work off to someone else. It's a good thing that my mom left him, as far as I'm concerned we're much better off without him. By the way have you ever thought of doing a list of the worst siblings in anime?

I honestly didn't expect Hayate the Combat Butler to ever be mentioned on a top ten list, but when I saw it appear on this one, I just had to scream, "Yes!"

While Avatar the Last Air Bender is not made in Japan, anime doesn't need to be made in Japan to be called anime, and Atlab is in the style of anime, so because of that I think Fire Lord Ozia deserves at least an honorable mention, for completely turning his daughter into a psychopath, burning and banishing his son and banishing his wife, while also trying to burn and take over the entire world. If the best thing you've done for you son is banish him, then I don't know how to help you. If that's not a bad parenting, then what is?

From the very moment I began to watch Evangelion, I think that Gendo is guilty for Shingi’s trauma and his crybaby behavior. Poor little thing

I am surprised that Shoto Todoroki’s dad from My hero academia didn’t make the list! Let me explain why: His dad FORCED a marriage with his wife JUST cause he wants to make a strong child to become the new #1 hero. He forced his wife to make children, but every time he ends up with a weak child and he did not care about them, so his wife had to take care of ALL of them. Finally they managed to make a good one (Shoto), so instead of raising him like a good father, he tortures him to get stronger when he was 5 YEARS OLD!!! His mom tries to help her son when he was sad and when his dad was not around, Shoto would cry and hug his mom and say “I-I don’t want to be like him!.. I don’t want to be like someone who bullies you all the time mama!..”. So one morning, Shoto went to the kitchen to eat breakfast, he noticed his mom was talking to someone and boiling water was.. well.. boiling.. and he was hiding behind the wall and overheard the conversation.. and this is what he herd: “Ugh.. I can’t raise him anymore, I just want to runaway from his life, his left side is unbearable all I can see is his father...” and Shoto said: “M-Mama....” And she turns to him, takes the boiling water that she was preparing for her tee and THREW IT ON TO HIS FACE!!! I won’t say anymore, cause my fingers hurt from tipping to much and I didn’t want to spoil to much but you should really watch “My hero ancademia/ Boku no hero academia”

Nagisa’s mom only sto being a controlling psychopath when nagisa stated cooking dinner and breakfast for her. I’ll give Tucker and endeavor some credit, when they do bad things they’re actions are never justified and are treated like villains when they do them. And I don’t care about her backstory, her life growing is no where near just horrible as how he treated nagisa

The manga has the #1 worst parents get even worse - they come back at the end to become major antagonists. They do get some comeuppance, but they are just pure evil.

The end of the manga revealed how truly evil Hayate's parents were: their real reason for tormenting him is petty sadism, and they fuck up everything in the end just out of spite. They do get punished for it, though.

FireFlame Productions I thought the same lines when I saw Akito Sohma. Akio looks very masculine but is actually a woman (at least by the manga) and Nagisa is a boy who can pull off looking like a girl but *BOTH* of these kids were forced into these gender identities by their HORRIBLE EXCUSES FOR PARENTS! Ren turned her daughter into a straight up psycho threw emotional and physical threats but she would have done that whether Akito was born a girl or a boy. where this control freak of a "mom"ster (monster who is called mom by society) just wanted a daughter so she could live out her hopes and dreams threw her. she would have used her child for that whether they were a boy or a girl.

My best friend says the same and that, combined with Akito's actions led her to think she was a girl WAY before chapter 97. Yes, she certainly deserves at least a dishonourable mention. She physically beat him, not for misbehaving, but for not performing up to her standards. He wore long sleeve shirts to cover the bruises. She used him to attempt to achieve the dream she couldn't achieve for herself. He took the abuse because he believed that if he played well enough, his mother would get well again, and she let him believe that. When she died, he believed it was his fault, and that he was a failure. She was a real tool.

Don't know about Your Lie in April, but mr Heartfilia PAID for his daughter to be kidnapped, only caring that she was returned alive. His Negligence is the reason why Lucy ran away from home in the first place

I'm very surprised Yuno Gasai's parents from Future Diary isn't even mentioned. They lock the poor girl in a cage and have her eat straw when she's at home! All because the mother REFUSES to be an actual parent. Sure they get it in the end, but what they did to Yuno is perhaps part of the reason why she ended up the way she is.

Somebody else who belongs on the list, Souichi Tomoe from Sailor Moon Crystal. That son of a bitch used his own daughter as a vessel for a monster that would destroy all life on Earth, for his own scientific obsession.

regarding #1, i don't get how that's supposed to be "comedic." Like, Robyn said the show is a comedy, but those circumstances....how is it ever funny when an innocent person is so beat down and taken advantage of? It reminds me of the running "joke" involving Dick Gumshoe's salary cuts in Ace Attorney; might be funny the first time (or i imagine there is SOME situation in which it could be momentarily amusing), but after a while it just becomes sad and pathetic, but not on Gumshoe's part....on EDGEWORTH'S (and by extension anyone else who does it to him, like Franzy to some degree).

Great list, and I fully agree with some choices. One major omission stands out though--Ryuunosuke Fujinami's father from Urusei Yatsura. Keep up the good work!

Personally, I think Makise Kurisu's dad (from Steins;Gate) is absolutely horrific.
