Nope. The death rate of covid is extremely low. In most countries even below 1% of the people getting it. The viruses mentioned on this list are extremely deadly. When you get covid you can be almost certain certain you will survive. While when you got ebola for example there is a very big chance of you dying. 25% to be exact. If you're really afraid of covid I would suggest tying yourself to the bed because there are a million other things that are more likely to kill you since people are afraid of something with such a low death rate instead of things that are much more likely to kill them... tie yourself to the bed because doing your household chores can also kill you. Don't look up the numbers for that sincr you seem easily be scared by anything that could kill you even if the numbers are low.

You should have looked at the severity in terms of the percentage of the people that died. In the year 500 less people lived. The Justinian plague was the most devastating by far, because everything wasn't as neatly recorded.

Most of these diseases subsided without vaccines. Diseases like polio, whooping cough, typhoid fever, scarlet fever, diphtheria, measles (which isn't that serious of a disease, people used to have measle parties for their kids so they build a strong lifetime immunity to it. The WHO death figures are mostly from 3rd world countries where people die from malnutrition and diarrhea), etc. all were in massive decline and almost wiped out before vaccines were even given.

Blue_diamonds Agreed. As someone who works in the education field, learning more about plagues should be mandatory in school district plans across The US and worldwide. Students should by no later than high school have at least some basic knowledge of plagues both from a historic aspect and on health and hygiene courses. What sad is that as a College Grad, I only learned more in detail about the “Black Death” Super Plague while taking European history in my Freshman year in college. Learning about plagues should be taught in both global history and hygiene classes in schools going forward after this 2020 COVID 19 pandemic.

Mainly because it wasn't a single disease or outbreak. The Columbian Exchange is thought to have brought more than a dozen diseases to the Americas including smallpox, bubonic plague, chickenpox, cholera, the common cold, diphtheria, influenza, malaria, measles, scarlet fever, various sexually transmitted diseases, typhoid, typhus, tuberculosis, and whooping cough. No single disease caused outbreak can be definitively said to have had a specific effect. It was the cumulative and repeated outbreaks that caused massive die off.

During the black death pandemic people had no idea what was killing all their neighbors and friends, they would desert cities and villages and escape to the forrest out of fear. And forrests were dark and dangerous too. But this was how many survived, they lived isolated with their families, separated from the rest.

The Black Death appears 4 times on this list. It has different names because it kept appearing after hundreds of years, but it was the same pandemic

Everyone needs to remember that this video was made in 2015, predating the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic (as of August 2021). I suggest this particular Watch Mojo needs a major revision because, much like the others mentioned in this video, the Coronavirus (or COVID-19) has proven to be catastrophic; only the final worldwide death toll is unknown because it is still ongoing.

@@benfox_2000 Immunocompromised means they could have an autoimmune disorder, could be just out of extensive surgery, could be waiting on an organ transplant etc so they would be at risk. There's also millions of people in between 20 years old and 65 years old that do have health issues like diabetes, heart problems, asthma, lung problems etc. There's been children diagnosed in the UK already.

Back then they didn’t have all kinds of social media outlets to create so much panic. People didn’t know crap and went about their day unless they hear something from someone by ear or the radio. I didn’t have my first cell phone until 2005 and it was a flip phone. Now we have screens all over. We’re being delivered messages 1-4 different ways at once sometimes. Tv, social media, radio, or friend/family.

Lucky for us, there are treatment for some diseases right now and all we have to do is stay home and watch KZread to avoid the virus

Everything seems so good except for the Spanish flu and the blacktop personally I would say the black death would come in second place and the Spanish flu would come in first place mainly because back then in the dark ages and then medieval times the black death was not really the main causes of death it was mostly because of hygiene problems wars and other factors to but back then in 1918 to 1925 the Spanish flu epidemic spreading through the world so much that I reached every corner of the earth and they were plenty of different hygiene methods in fact it was so bad that soldiers couldn’t even fight
