You all know by now that France is extremely reputable for the quality of its wines. I made an entire video dedicated to why French wines are, generally-speaking so good and about the factors that have made it so special in the world, and that have made it what it is today. You’re obviously welcome to watch it after hearing which are the best French wine regions. I’ll link to it at the end of this video as well as in the video description.

But for now, let’s focus on the Top 10 Best French wine regions, those wine countries that have all wine lovers around the world dreaming about beautiful landscapes, stunning castles and succulent wines.
This is part 1 of a 3-part series where we first look at the 10 best wine regions, then we’ll look at the 10 best French wine grapes (like Chardonnay, Cabernet and the others), before digging into the 10 best most admired wineries in France.

Good info, but you should have shown every region on a map at the beginning of each segment. And perhaps you should have made it a top 20, considering how many good regions that you have been forced to leave out? When it comes to french wine, top ten lists really leaves out too much information.

Fair point. Loving you feedback, it's always very valuable to have an outsider's eye on the videos. You're absolutely right, could have been a top 20 easily. How many in Italy then?

@@KZreadJulien Oh my, Italy have so many types of wine that is only good in some parts of some regions. In France the wine quality is much more regional. In Italy nearly every region is as confusing as it is interesting when it comes to its wines. I think one of the main reasons for this was that Italy back in the 60s to 80s had a policy of making as much wine as possible regardless of the quality. So many bad wine fields where made that produce awful wine. And this have in turn given many types of Italian grapes a bad reputation. The best example for this would be the barbera grape, that is hard to find outside Italy. There are many amazing barbera wines, still barbera wines in general are so bad that even Italians don't like to talk about them! Anyway, considering how much people like champagne, you should definitely consider to do a video about Moscato DOCG wines some day.

@@OldShakerHand thanks for the suggestion man. Yes indeed, moscato sounds like an interesting topic. What do you think about Prosecco? I quite like good barberas indeed, a nice a vibrant style of wine, perhaps a little too grippy sometimes.

@@KZreadJulien Yea, most barberas are bad. But the few amazing ones do exist and they come very cheap, mostly due to the awful reputation barberas in general have. Anyway, the best Champagne equivalents from Italy actually comes from the part of Lombardy called Franciacorta. Most Prosecco are not on the Franciacorta level because the production method often is different to Champagne. So sparkling wines called Prosecco are not really Champagne equivalents(although some can be). And like the Champagne region, Franciacorta mostly use 3 grapes: chardonnay, pinot nero, and pinot bianco. For Moscatos the best ones come from d'Asti, usually called Moscato d'Asti. Franciacorta and especially Moscato d'Asti have very good quality offers for low prices. I have just listed some of my best “finds” that are still available below: From Franciacorta: * Bellavista Franciacorta Gran Cuvée Brut 2006, 40 EURO * Spumante Franciacorta Dosage Zero Millesimato DOCG 2011/2013 Ca´del Bosco, 42 EURO * I Vignaioli di S. StefanoMoscato d'Asti 2016, only 14 EURO From Moscato d'Asti: * Rinaldi Bug Juice 2012 - 92p at Parker, just 17 EURO * Piazzo Moscato d'Asti, just 20 EURO * Coppo Moncalvina Moscato d'Asti 'Canelli', just 21 EURO I have only bought & tried a few of the wine of the list, but still the quality have impressed me and many others that I have talked to.

Hi Mitch, probably the local regional wine from where the story takes place. Wine wasn't moved around that much back then, except for high nobility. Burgundy wine was popular back then. Hope this helps :) Cheers!
