Some of the links above are to products I use or have used at some point and feel they are good enough to share with you. Some of these links may be affiliate links where I would receive compensation if you were to purchase them. The money earned from these affiliate links goes into making videos, just like this one. Keep in mind, I only recommend products that I’ve used and I believe will help others be successful with keeping a saltwater aquarium. Thank you for your support and Happy Reefing!

Podcast, what's it called?
Great video and tips! Especially tip #1. I ALWAYS change the frag plug after dippy my corals, well at least the easier ones. There are challenges for encrusted kind of corals like chalices and SPS.
Love that intro music and the remix stutter sound to it @ 18 seconds.
Just added my first coral. Love this chanel for tips, tricks and advice. Thanks

Thank you!
You pretty much nailed it! After my 15 years reefing, I still would not be able to narrow it down to 10. I compare it to owning a horse or a fixer upper. The payoff is when you're finally on the home stretch and can see things coming together and it actually seams to be paying off. Finally Victory for a little while before you feel an upgrade is needed.
Great video!
Always well presented and good info. Though there are a few ways to do reefing. I have 6 tanks. Not one has a sump. 3 have HOBs. Heavily stocked tanks with corals and fish.

Heavily stocked tanks and corals don’t usually mix curious to see what your tank looks like

Full, overfull and healthy.
Great idea on a list. Also I saw new fishies swimming in there, I hope we get an update on that soon.

@@MadHattersReef I thought you only had the 2 clowns, I saw a couple bangaii and a tail spot blenny
Fell into some of those. I admit I don't check my new water. Also am a culprit of overfeeding. Still working on my lighting on times.

We all have to start somewhere, keep on reefing.
Good tips. The lighting intensity and duration point is debatable though. Maybe people do over 12 hours with success.
very helpful upload thanks 👌

@@MadHattersReef Yep, especially if you have a spouse who isn't as passionate about reef keeping!
If i have fish only tank then light is needed? Any regular light (ie. Philips hue led strip) can do the job? Or without light setup also do the job?
I found out how much I need your channel

Id say that one gets it's own vid lol
Great idea but finding want is considered good equipment isn’t that easy when no one agrees on what is considered the best or test to prove it
Js, I've never dipped a coral however I only buy coral from the store I work at. Also use only the water we make that goes into all systems every coral all but 1 hammer has died

The equipment discussion is a slippery slope. People have been conditioned to believe they MUST “upgrade” every single piece of gear on the tank annually each time a new edition comes out. People have to realize that with these smaller, purpose-driven companies, a product which needs no upgrade path is a death sentence. Massive companies that have a diverse worldwide product line (like eheim) can still sell the 1262 style pump that has remained largely unchanged for some 20-odd years. But for a smaller newer company with only a handful of boutique grade reef specific products, they MUST release fresh new editions to keep the company running. I’m not trashing any brand in particular, but just for example. Just because ecotech releases generation 4 of the xr30, does that suddenly mean the 3rd generation is a liability? Or maxspect releases the xf350...that doesn’t make the xf250 suddenly the weak link in your tank. Don’t be fooled into thinking you NEED to “upgrade” just because a new edition comes out. You end up wasting a heck of a lot more money by annually replacing gear that should be lasting 5+ years,
Hey Jeff could you edit your intro voice volume to match your video voice. There's a significant drop in volume.

Hi
Great point about dipping corals bud...however if you remove corals from a bag after being in there hrs or days and dip them almost immediately you could bet almost 7 times out of ten you're gna kill them just the same...these corals need a solid 24 hrs to destress before you expose them to any sort of dipping...js

Fine. Id much rather kill 1 new coral 7 times out of 10 than run the risk of infecting the whole tank with disastrous pests or diseases. A compromise i suppose you might do is have a 2.5 gallon tank with a hob filter for flow and a small bio filter like a marine pure sphere. A short of mini quarantine to de-stress. Not everyone really wants to, or can, have a full coral quarantine system which is ideal, but everyone can have an extra 2.5 gallon for coral observation before it enters the display.

I dip all my new corals and they have never died from dipping. Maybe my dipping process isn’t as aggressive as others?
@MadHattersReef

I like the idea of quarantining the coral prior to dipping the coral but there could be issues that come from that as well. You could potential infect the other new corals that you are isolating with any infected coral. It’s so hard to win sometimes.
Water changes are the biggest waste of money. When they’re not necessary... Remember that time is also money.
