Thank you! Walking distance is so much easier than staying further out. However, you do get some good bargains if you stay in Orange. We used to stay at the Double Tree a lot when the kids were smaller. We could stay there for around 100 a night out the door. We would just Uber to the parks in the morning. It is always a difficult decision, pay more and stay closer or pay less and deal with transportation.

I loved the howard johnson! I can't recommend it enough. I stayed there in December 2021 after watching your review video about it. I booked a firework park view room in building 1. Monorail and matterhorn view was wonderful with a balcony for some fresh air. It was quiet, comfortable beds and an easy walk to the park. I enjoyed my stay and it felt like home away from home. ❤

We really enjoy your very helpful, fact filled videos. Thank you! I was born in So Cal and our annual trip back to visit Grandparents always included a trip to Disneyland (and chicken dinner at Knott's Berry Farm). It is clear from your videos how much you both love the place. We are going to DLR again at the end of August for 6 nights. We stayed at the Disneyland Hotel when we were there about the same time in 2019. While we enjoyed it very much and the pool area is amazing, it is too hard to justify the cost to do it again. Plus, after traveling to WDW last December and staying three nights each at the Boardwalk and Poly, we're done paying Disney prices for hotel rooms for the foreseeable future. So, after deciding we wanted to stay off property, we watched most of your videos on surrounding hotels. I found the actual walking to the park tours really helpful to visualize our walk whose spouse likes to minimize the walk. We choose to stay at the JW Marriott. Your property tour and walking to the park video helped a lot. The wife picked the deluxe accommodations there over closer more motel like rooms (which you two always help point out when you stay in one). And we're only paying about 10% -15% more than many of the rooms on your list. I think the price of this hotel is very convention dependent, much like the Westin. Go when there is no convention, and you can get a pretty good rate.

We enjoy Disneyland a lot and it has been a part of both of our families since we were little ourselves. Jim used to visit his great aunt and uncle in Bellflower and go to the park. My parents used to take me on an annual trip every year. We agree with you on the Disney hotel prices, it is getting harder and harder to justify the extra money to stay on property. That is why we have only covered one Disney hotel in our videos. The JW is great at the back entrance to the hotel from the GardenWalk is definitely a timesaver. The onsite restaurants are good and we really had a nice stay at the hotel. Just note that as of March 1 they started charging an additional $25 resort fee on top of the parking fee. It does include some perks. We did make detailed post on our community page if you want to read about the details. Thank you so much for watching your videos and for leaving a comment. We love hearing from our viewers. The two of us are happy you found our videos helpful and we hope you have a fun trip in August.

We stayed at Candlewood Suites last time (three weeks ago). Booked for December coming up! FULL sized kitchen, with a living room, diner area, and covered parking garage. There is a price for parking, but worth it for the room which was way less than Howard Johnson. It was about a 15 min walk, give or take. Hands down recommend. If I didn’t already guarantee my price for Christmas week, I wouldn’t even bring it up in fear it would get too popular since I keep bragging about how well this was a BANG for our family’s buck.

Here is our overnight experience video that we made on Mini Suites, it goes into more detail about the hotel: kzread.info/dash/bejne/gaagw7iyYJWdnqQ.html We do our best to talk about the good and the bad and be as neutral as possible to give you the information you need to make your booking decision. Our biggest complaint at the hotel was the overall noise, we captured some of this noise while recording and placed it in our experience video. Breakfast was great and proximity to Disneyland was excellent. We felt with the total price paid per night and the newer competition that there are better values out there. This list was very tough to put together for us and a lot of good places didn't end up in the video. We were trying to pick places that stood out to us. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment.

******* Update 3/19/2022 ***** We heard from one of our viewers that the bar is not open at Wyndham but expected to open soon. If this amenity is important to you call ahead to confirm if the bar is open. This was a tough list for us to put together, we debated on this list for a number of hours. We were trying our best to mix in budget minded hotels and moderately priced prices hotels. These were the hotels that stood out to us and we acknowledge many good hotels didn't make this list. This is a great starting point if you are looking to stay off property for a Disneyland vacation. We always encourage you to conduct your own research and read the most recent reviews of a hotel. Look to see if the hotel's reviews are trending negative or positive before booking. Matter of fact, we are releasing a Desert Palms video in the next couple of weeks. We really enjoyed our stay there and have zero issues with staying there again. We have stayed at Candy Cane in the past and now the renovated rooms and we have always liked Candy Cane. We always factor cost, amenities, and hotel vs. motel when picking a place to stay. Hi Joel! Sounds like you have a fun trip planned! In terms of quality, we would lean towards the Fairfield Inn. Both are motels, with outside corridors, which you can hear noise from depending on who your neighbors are. We think the walk is about equal, but you only have to cross one major crosswalk for the Fairfield Inn, instead of two for the Anaheim Hotel. We also really like the proximity of the Fairfield Inn to other outside dining restaurants. Near by are: Panera, Mimi’s Cafe and McDonalds. Not sure when your dates are, but wanted to let you know that there are some grad nights planned in June. It should not affect your day much, you’ll just see more groups of teenagers in the parks. California Adventure will close at 9pm on the grad nights as well. Thank you so very much for the nice compliments and we are so happy you enjoy our content. Grad night dates are Jun 1st, 3rd, 4th, 7th, 8th, 10th, 11th, and the 17th. We checked 2019 hours and Disneyland was open 8am-midnight. Last year Disneyland had reduced hours due to a limited opening and we had to go back to the last year of full operation. The operating are not posted yet and only goes out until the 1st of May. In 2019, typically the shows were all running during June, except for a Monday which had no fireworks. We find that the least crowded days in the past were Tuesday-Thursday. Always check the entertainment calendar to see what shows will be running. Right now that calendar only goes out until May 1.

That is a very far walk, especially after a long day in the parks. We usually consider walking distance less than a mile. If we stay further out we either take ART or Uber to the parks. Overall, how was the hotel itself?

@@AnaheimParkTourist I think I stayed two nights? Checked in night before, walked in first morning, maybe Uber'ed the rest. I wish I'd thought of looking into the ART schedules--probably would have saved more. I don''t have a strong memory of the hotel. Definitely not the worst I've stayed in, that now goes to an EconoLoge from my recent WDW trip. Would have been back in Feb 2019 so who knows what has changed since then. I did like that it was in walking distance from some food options. There's a Jack in the Box right in the parking lot which I did try.

Element is a great choice! We did like the stay there but it is a bit of a walk (but not terrible). We have been procrastinating on doing our taxes!!! Hopefully we should have our tour out before you go. The room layout was great and the breakfast was good. I would expect the weather to be warm to hot. We have been rained on before but it isn't common. Southern California can get humid but probably not as bad as the East Coast. Reopening day at Disneyland last year was 90 degrees and I don't remember the humidity level but it was up there. The next day was cold. Good news is June gloom should be gone (overcast skies), we get it up north too.

Hi there, King's Inn is sort of a no frills place to stay. They do not offer a shuttle or breakfast, but they do have free parking. You can walk to the Toy Story parking lot and grab a free Disneyland shuttle. It is probably about a 10 minute walk, total. While this video is not an exact walk from King's Inn, starting at the 51 second mark, I reach S.Clementine/Katella intersection. From this point in the video, you have to walk the same route to the Toy Story lot. kzread.info/dash/bejne/l6qTj9uEfsTFpbA.html In other words, if you look at google maps, King's Inn is next to the Garden Walk. Garden Walk is next to S. Clementine. If you are leaving King's Inn, you turn left on Katella. The Toy Story Lot entrance is at S. Clementine. The aforementioned walking video will show how to enter the Toy Story lot and walk to the transportation area. Your alternative is to ride ART. There is a stop right at the corner of Harbor and Katella. I personally think taking the Toy Story Shuttle makes more sense. If you take the Toy Story shuttle before 11 am, Disney will perform a security screening at the Toy Story lot. Typically screening, boarding a shuttle, and the ride takes about 20-30 min. There are only two hotels in Anaheim area with dedicated shuttles, Candy Cane Inn (Currently closed) and Anaheim Majestic. Anaheim Inn is the second closest, just a couple minutes further. We liked this better than Park Place Inn. The rooms we felt slightly nicer although there was a bit road noise coming through. If you are sensitive to noise bring a sound machine or ear plugs. This hotel is about 7 minutes to Disneyland Stovall's This is located across the street from Eden Roc Hotel, here is a walking video from the Eden Roc kzread.info/dash/bejne/lIyCzdyFj7PFds4.html . This might be a bit long but we hope this helps steer you in the right direction. Motels aren't our favorite either but motels are the closest to the park. Out of the closest Motels to Disneyland, we like Park Vue, Tropicana, and Camelot. The latter two are owned by the same owner and we think the Camelot is slightly better. We do have videos on all three. The Best Westerns tend to get more road noise and I am sensitive to noise. Out of the two close BW, we prefer the Anaheim Inn. Hotels that are reasonably close, Howard Johnson (Building 1 or 2 are remodeled), Hilton Garden Inn, Home2 Suites (includes breakfast). All three have splash pads and pools. We show the Hilton Garden Inn and Home2 Suites pools in our Home2 Suites Amenities video. There is also a Holiday Inn located in the same complex as the Hiltons, we haven't stayed there yet. It looks to be nice and they serve breakfast. Crystal feels comfortable walking to these hotels by herself, even later in the evening. Now if you watch our walking video for Hilton Garden Inn/Home2 Suites, towards the end you will see a bus stop as you approach Disneyland. The homeless tend to hang out by this stop. We have never had issues here and there always tends to be a large group of people flowing in and out from the parks. Midnight to 1am there are a lot less people out and about. A bit further away, Grand Legacy Luxury Rooms (Hotel rooms) are decent but the rooms are small. The rest of the facility is a motel. They have a small splash pad and zero entry pool. Ask for a room on a lower floor if you stay here. They do have a rooftop bar which can bring some additional noise into the hotel. We did not experience this. Wyndham: Has large rooms but a small pool. We love the facility but the corner of S. Harbor and Katella isn't always the best. We once again have never had issues there but just letting you know. We are from the San Francisco Bay Area and are not experts on Southern California Weather. However, it can be warm in California in February. Our kids have gone swimming in December during a 90F day (32C) and we have been frozen. So it is really hit or miss. Generally speaking I would expect mild weather in February.

I feel your pain with the dollar. I was in Australia in 2012 when things were opposite and the US Dollar didn't go very far. The cheaper you go it tends to be a bit further away and you will need to factor in transportation costs. We are more than happy to help you out as much as possible. Most practical transportation is Uber/Lyft or ART if you are staying further out. If your dates aren't firm, take look at the convention Calendar in the area and try to plan around the big conventions (Most have just recently happened) www.anaheim.net/1871/Calendar-of-Events If we see hotel prices spike, we tend to look at the calendar to see what is in town. As we said before, prices seem very high this summer. We haven't been to Disneyland since April and were shocked when planning our next trip this summer. An inexpensive hotel that gets the job done is King's Inn. It is an older Motel but it is decently remodeled. The rooms tend to go on the more inexpensive side. It is no frills place and very bare bones. Basically a place to sleep. The walls are going to be thin here but I did not have any major issues with noise. About 1.6 km walk. Hotel 414 -Prices vary wildly here but depending on the dates, you might get a good rate. It is about 1.6km walk. Desert Palms - We have stayed here, it includes a breakfast that is decent. The beds were just okay but not the best (it could have just been our room). We paid about $170 USD a night. The walk is around 1 km if I remember correctly. We don't have our video published of this hotel. Alpine Inn - We really liked this room. The prices was good for a 1 bedroom suite. The hotel was overall quiet and we really enjoyed our stay here. This hotel is almost right next door to Desert Inn and suites. This is a smaller motel just like Hotel 414 and the staff was nice. Castle Inn - This is one of the more budget friendly places (I used the word very loosely) on Harbor. This motel tends to be one of the cheaper ones. It is dated, the rooms are dark, but it is comfortable. This going to be one of the closer "cheap" hotels. Alamo Inn- I had a good stay here with no complaints. The hotel is quiet but it is about 23 minute walk to the gates of Disneyland. People will say its 10 minutes, it is not. I have a walking video on this. Eden Roc - Same area as Alamo Inn, same walking distance. The motel is decently renovated. The beds were too firm for us. That was probably our only complaint. Stovall's Best Western -We haven't stayed here but it is in this same area as Alamo Inn, matter of fact you can see the hotel in the walking video. Our friends have stayed here and liked it. We think it tends to be on the more expensive side for the area. Best Western Pavilions -Crystal has stayed here years ago and had no complaints. It is further away than Alamo Inn. Maybe 2-3 doors down. The Best Western Pluses in the area offer an included breakfast. This is a good starting point. Check out these hotels and see if they fit your budget and location. We are more than happy to discuss any of them in more depth or make more suggestions.

I reviewed some walking footage that I took on my visit and it is about 10 minutes to get to Harbor entrance. I tend to walk a bit faster than most. In the morning it isn't too bad of a walk but always feels much longer in the evening. As an alternative, you can catch a shuttle at the Toy Story lot and it is about a 5-6 minute walk to the shuttle area from the Sheraton. At busy times, the lines for the shuttle can be long. In the morning, Disney processes you through security at the Toy Story Lot. The Toy Story shuttle is free to use. For us, we have no problem with staying at this hotel and walking to and from the parks on a daily basis. For many, this is slightly out of walking distance range. Sorry about your cancelled reservation. Thanks for the quick response and offer of help! My dates are September 18th to the 24th, Sunday to Saturday. Candy Cane was $1600 after all taxes and fees. I’d say $1500-$2000 if it can be done within walking distance-Candy Cane Inn would be about as far as we’d want to go. I’ve tried the Best Westerns, Park Vue, Hojo-even checked the Disney hotels. Started checking cheapo hotels farther afield to find one with decent reviews. Gave up after a couple for now. As a backup I’ll probably do this next week when I’m in California. Maybe get something in Orange or somewhere that’s cheap and relatively nice. We’d rather drive than take shuttles-but driving to the parking structure every day was not my idea of a Disneyland vacation. I know you’re not a travel agent so thanks! I’m not expecting miracles, and am impressed with your response. Clearly, the Candy Cane Inn didn’t have someone who knew how to deal with the city and county government. We lived in Anaheim over 10 years ago, and the government was pushing back against Disney interests back then. Sounds like Candy Cane didn’t handle them like they needed to-bow and scrape if you’re a small business-and we were collateral damage. Or they were just desperate to reopen after their long closure.

Thankfully the 23rd and the 24th has some alternatives, unlike your week. Holy cow, the week you are going everything is booked. If you have an instagram, you can add us and we can help through DM, if not we are more than happy here. We have figured out you will need to do a split stay to make your overall stay more enjoyable. We have never stayed at these hotels: Best Western + Meridian Inn has a room for Sept 18-20 $116 a nigh then more options open up closer to Disneyland Extend a Stay Orange County you can stay 18th -24th, the beds are full size but it does have a kitchen. Cost $1,156 + parking We will keep looking for you, for some ideas.

Lemon Tree Inn is near the packing district, but a bit further away. They have some availability as well, 18-20 and then you can move closer to Disneyland afterwards. Once again, we haven't stayed there before. www.lemontreehotelanaheim.com/
