Let's just hope they don't screw up Katherine Parr and William the Conqueror. History is already colourful enough without to change anything for "dramatic effect".

Very much looking forward to the Master and Commander prequel. It's predecessor was one THE BEST sailing warship movies we've had in decades. Kinda wish it was a sequel to the first movie, but I don't make such decisions. Russell Crowe is one of our greatest actors of historical films currently working.

Hannibal had nothing in common with ancestors of Denzel Washington. He wasn’t black. He was a Carthaginian. Carthage was founded by the colonists from Phoenicia. Which is modern day Lebanon. Do Lebanese look black to the creators of that “historical” movie?

1066 and all that! Finally a movie about William the Conqueror. And anything that Denzel Washington is in is worth my time to watch. It took me years to watch The Messiah movie due to the very accurate portrayal of Christs suffering, I finally did a few years ago. I’m a huge fan of Jim Caviezel so I’m looking forward to seeing it. Thank you for all this great information.

Hannibal was NOT black... carthaginians were actually fairly white. They were a semitic people which actually originated from the Levant as Carthago was founded by phoenician people. Barca family was carthaginian through and through. Now numidians were also north african but a little darker, but even them.. were only slighly darker.. I've had enough of this black washing of history... what`s next, black Napoleon?

It seems that Netflix believes that if the character was born in Africa -even if only a few miles from Europe - they can cast an actor whose ancestors come from three thousand miles away.

OMFG Netflix blackwashed Cleopatra and now Hannibal??? WTaF???

Yes there definitely seems to be and I think the fact that oppenheimer absolutely killed at the box office will only make studios more keen to produce high quality historical movies.

@@HistorySpark Yeah absolutely. Same with the success of Shogun tv series, and it subtitled too. It's definitely a good sign and even if it's a brief period, definitely will be more projects green-lit for a while

I think hannibal will be bigger budget but ruined by netflixs involvement to a certain degree and william the conqueror will be lower budget but perhaps a better movie overall?

1066 and the Battle of Hastings. We had to learn all about this in parochial grade school history. Now I bet that not even college students know about this or its significance.

Promised Land was in US last year.

Hayden was good in "Shattered Glass" also 'Life as a house"..in my opinion.

Just saying but there’s two movies that are in development that you might like and one of them is called Monte Cassino and it doesn’t have a release date yet and the other movie is called Roosevelt and it’s a biographical drama about Theodore Roosevelt.

It's a shame they've cast such a historically inaccurate actor to play Hannibal.

I would like to see movie about Witold Pilecki done by Hollywood but I'm worried they will scrue up something , and I prefer for my drea never to come true.

The fact that there is no massive biopic about Julius Caesar blows my mind. One could argue he may be top 5 most important humans to ever live. Yet theres a biopic on Amy Winehouse...yea ok. Oh yea and STOP making historical time pieces diverse...it wasnt...

As much as Denzel Washington is a great actor, not everyone from Africa is black. The Cartheginians are descended from the Phoenicians and Macedonians. Had they been good to history I would have been all over this but no more well in this case blackwashing history hello Netflix Cleopatra.
