yooo bro thank u sm i really appreciate you respect💯🗣
Hey! Good tips you got there! I've got some advice for like ending their drops or something like that. What I do is I zoom to the 8th lines, select all my tracks and fade. It makes the end of the drop smooth especially if you got those samples with reverb in the actual file. Another thing I do is to duplicate every track and I add a bit of reverb in the last bar of my drop. That way the end sounds like it's fading as well but it's reverb. For the reverb end, I mostly use no less than -8 for it to have that echoey effect at the end. I've got one more and it's "merging tracks". Apparently, you can merge tracks in Soundtrap on the left side of the ribbon, you click on settings then you'll see Merge Tracks. This will merge two or more (meaning you can merge your layers) to an audio file. The only downside of merging tracks is you can't unmerge it unless you undo it. So, if you had progressed after merging your tracks, you have to undo them. Worst case scenario, you can't undo all the way to unmerge your track (I've experienced it and it's super painful) so it's probably best to merge only if you think you won't do any changes to one of the soon-to-be-merged tracks. After merging, Soundtrap will treat your merged track as one *audio* file. not MIDI.
@youtube give this man a raise!
absolutely no clue what im doing but youre making it a bit easier
Having the attack cranked up helps the compression on vocals a ton (specifically in Soundtrap) it would seem a bit high on any other daw
Thank you so much for all of this info you share! I am getting ready to record my first single and I wanna make sure it sounds good enough for Spotify and such. Do you have any tips for mastering? I know that Soundtrap doesn't really have any features for it that it kinda does it once you have finished your song and downloaded it. I just wanna make sure that it will sound good across different platforms and be as professional sounding as I can get it.
@FrogToneMixing

Glad this helped! Stick with the automatic one! That "mixing/mastering" Soundtrap does when you export is actually something I wish bigger daws had. The only thing some people need to change from platform to platform would be loudness. EX: SoundCloud and Spotify will treat a track that's TOO QUITE differently. They actually won't touch anything if it's an average track, normalized at a reasonable LUFS value, which the automatic Soundtrap process does that for you. Every song that falls in a reasonable loudness will all get moved to 1 value on every platform. That's why I wish it was on other daws! It's a super useful tool I would totally use it

@@FrogToneMixing Hi, Just to clarify your technic for vocals. You start with duplicate the basic vocal track for doing the parallel compression. Then you duplicate the same first vocal track to do the parallel reverb or you do the reverb on the parallel compressed track? If not, you finish your mix with four different tracks for your main vocal at the end?! ( i hope that is understandable)😁
@FrogToneMixing

You got it right, every vocal layer is a duplicate of the ORIGINAL vocal track👍 It allows for me the most experimentation when on the duplicates

I am a singer songwriter who cant audio engineer for shit, I even took a tertiary class for a year to learn and that was shit, I dont know how many youtube videos I've watched (original learned garage band, to logic pro and ableton) and I just didnt understand why my mixes sound trash. trying soundtrap been a week now and I'm not kidding - just doing what I normally do and its the best mix I've ever had. But I need to understand what I'm doing to get better rather than let soundtrap do all the work lol. I found this guy and OMG! thank you soooooo much for speaking lamen terms to my dumb ass.... I so cant wait to apply all of what I'm learning in this vid. So super excited to complete a track the way I want it to sound and hopefully get onto spotify. You da man!!!!!
Hey man you're pretty cool.
Insanely useful video. One other question. The tracks I download seem very quiet. I was at first having problems with frequencies getting drowned out but I compressed correctly and eq'd and it fixed that. But every thing i export is so much quieter than what i play on spotify.

theres is no reason this should be under 500000. thanks for taking the time... lot of information. do you know much about mixing rap vocals
@FrogToneMixing
3 жыл бұрын
To me rap vocals are like any other vocals with an extra compressor at the end. A highly compressed, up front vocal is key, but you have to get a good sound first. Compression makes all the little details come out, so make sure your eq is good, then compress alot. Also, boosting the top 2 EQ band s (10,000hz+) is something almost every rap vocal does today. In my experience you can go pretty crazy with this, you can boost it alot. It's the spot that's kind of magic, something that hits exactly where you miss it alot of the time. THE TRAVIS SCOTT video on my channel goes over all of this in detail, including the reverbs and delays which is a huge part about rap vocals. To summarize, Eq-cut low, boost highs, compress with maybe 2 dynamic compressors until it sound natural and up front, add duplicate reverb and 1/8 note delay tracks. Thanks again for the support! Hope this helped!
aye bro you have any suggestions for sidechaining on soundtrap? there doesn’t seem to be an instilled sidechain feature in the software. Soundtrap has really helped me understand each effect and master using them by myself instead of using a plug in, but compared to other daw’s i find the sidechaining feature to be missing?
Would love to know how to fix latency/delay in vocals!
wow sound trap aside.... this gave me a true deep understanding.... I am doing 2 things. 1- Podcast 2- KZread Karaoke ( or as i call it....Keri-oki ...) stupid I know and yet ------i want them to SOUND GGGGOOOOODDDD !!!!
can you make a video on how to get rid of background noise /hiss / white noise in soundtrap would aprecciate it man
@FrogToneMixing

Hey! the best way to do that from what i know is to do it in Audacity, another free program that will give you the best results. As far as i know there isnt a way to do it in soundtrap kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y2R6qK2lj5Otg6Q.html Heres a video that gets the point across of how to do it in Audacity,as you can see itll take a few more steps, but it will be worth it in the end!
How do you calculate fader/dial values without numbers or notches? Is there an easy way to locate and delete unintentional overlayed notes? What can be done to prepare a mix for SoundTrap's unavoidable "auto-master"? How can musicians collaborate with you, through SoundTrap, to get better mixes?

Love the Q's Let's goooo! 1. We have to go by ears for now in Soundtrap (let me know if you have any q's on which values if they are giving you trouble). I hope Soundtrao create a "pro mode" or "for nerds" layover of the program for this in the future. As far as I know, dynamic compressors are the only things in Soundtrap to output a value like this. 2. I've experienced a problem like this where I can't see any track, but I get sounds, most of the time that were deleted, still playing. If that's what you mean I would try this -Saving and restarting the project would be my first goto -freezing and un-freezing a track (3 dots in the corner by the track name will bring option to freeze) might work. Doing it on all tracks might make ST reconsider the data and return the output to the intended sound -its most likely caused by CPU throttling, so close any program you have open in the background and restart the project after a save -if worse comes to worse, you can always export a given track as audio (3 dots next to track name will give the "export as wave" option"). Once you've exported all your tracks, you can make another project and all these stems in there I hope that's what you meant, if not let me know! 3. The worst thing I've experienced with ST's master is unintentional reverb. If you hear that problem on a final master I would remove/lower any reverb you have to adjust. I wish I had a better answer for this, like snares are boasted or the vocal should up, but the master is truly a black box that automates different things everytime in my experience, super hard to guess and cater to. You can also avoid the master in some way by again exporting all the individual tracks as wave files, putting them in a program like Audacity and making changes there. It's kind of a fussy solution but it could be effective. 4. You can always hire me for a mix! Dm on instagram @frog_tone for my rates and stuff, we can work something out! Thanks sm for all the questions and hope I helped, let me know any more you have. I think I'll be answering what I know in every comment like this for a while so don't hesitate to ask!

Any tips for mixing guitars?
@FrogToneMixing
3 жыл бұрын
Depending on which type of guitar, For electrics recorded through a mic, the way to the cleanest recording would be to record as load as you can through the amp. Make sure you're not clipping, but turn your amp up as much as possible, this will reduce noise from the room alot. Then you can take out noise in-between notes from the amp with volume automation. Once you have recorded tho, the tip about WIDTH that I give in this video (tips #8 ~21:33), works super well on guitars. Lastly id say don't be tempted to over-eq, guitar out of amps usually sound pretty close how they are supposed to, so don't go crazy. Lmk anymore electric questions! For acoustics the tips are sort of the same, but different in some ways. The record them as close as possible, put the mic/computer mic as close to the sound hole as you can, without clipping, to get that low room noise. Again, clean it up with volume automation on parts you don't like. The width trick (#8 at 21:33) also works great. And eq wise, I always like to try adding brightness with acoustics, and cutting lows a bit. Going into the eq and boosting the highest bands, and cutting the lowest bands usually works for record acoustics, not always but it's defineltly a good starting place. If it's software/MIDI instrument guitars you're wanting, to improve I have major tip...HUMANIZE! Go into midi and adjust velocity and timing slightly. The small "v" in the top right corner of the midi piano roll will bring up these lines in the notes, adjust the volume with these to make sure they're not all the same. Also zooming in really close and moving the midi notes slight to the left or right humanizes it as well. Hope that helped! Let me know any questions you still have in this stuff!
my bass doesn't sound loud after the mix what do I do?
@FrogToneMixing
3 жыл бұрын
Tru adding sum distortion and go light and heavy with it, and if that messes it up too much add some eq around the 3-4-5th bands on the eq
Bruh so I have a problem so when I want to play notes on the piano roll the notes are way to long and I don’t know how to make them shorter if yk what I mean how to I do that?
@FrogToneMixing

Np man, my guess is that the "release" knob is too high If the track you have doesnt have a release knob on the track (next to the volume and reverb and tone settings) let me know the name of the instrument right here and well see what we can do Hope that works man! Lmk!

Super common problem no worries! I can only say so much over text, bit it's probably not enough compression, and not enough leveling. Compressing things makes them seem loud, even though they might not be. So compressing things and boosting their volume overtime will give you a louder track. Drums are the worst when it comes to loudness, especially with stock soundtrap drums. Download the drum pack in the description of the video I have, it's totally free, no BS, and they all sound LOUD AF. For track you already have, try your best to compress them, without losing the soul in the music you have. Once you've compressed stuff, making sure things are at the right level is a super overlooked problem. Volume mixing, JUST leveling things out, is something I've seen some engineers charge money for alone. Spend time making sure things are compressed, and then level them out right. A HUGE TIP IS PARALLEL COMPRESSION! Compresing something heavy, even with the compressor 1 effect, on a duplicate track will be super effective for you. It'll fill up the dead space in-between sounds that your song should fill up, just like normal compression. Check out the parallel compression part of the video for more detail, if you already know howto do it lmk
