Steve won me over in the first episode of season 1, when he sneaks into Nancy’s window. He wants to make out but she wants to study, so he stays to help her study, because he really cares about her.

@@spirittammyk But in got the writers/producers just wanted to finish everything quickly as they had gotten another offer for a different show (which ironically was retracted after the criticism on s8 of got). Also in got they never had problems killing the main characters, which they do have in St... This is just a late night thought of a tired person, so idk if everything makes sense😬

@@lottekomkommer No. Every decision they made was from their ideology of subverting expectations. Jaime was supposed to be the one to kill Cersei. In the book when she has the future read to her by the witch, the last part is where her younger brother will strangle her. She always assumed it would be Tyrion and it's why she was so nasty to him, but it was really going to be Jaime who swore an oath to protect the people of Westeros and her thirst for power was going to destroy it.

So many comments calling Steve a jerk in season one, but they all seem to forget two things: he doesn't know what we know about everything going on, and even before things started he was really pretty nice. He helped Nancy study instead of trying to have his hoped-for makeout session, he was nice to Barb, he worried about Nancy and Barb when Barb was missing....really, his only asshole moment was breaking Jonathan's camera, but given that it was loaded with pictures that made Jonathan look like a creepy stalker, even that's understandable.

Exactly, I mean, if I found out that someone was taking pictures of me and my partner, in my bedroom, while getting naked and about to fuck, I think breaking their camera would only be the beginning. I believe Steve was not an asshole to Jonathan in that moment, he was even too nice. That was so creepy, he could easily have reported him to the police, and rightfully so. Steve was a rich kid used to always get what he wanted and have things his way, but an asshole, he was not

I remember how much I LOVED the moment when Robin came out on him, and Steve was like: "Okay, it doesn't change a thing about you, I still pretty much love you, but platonically now" and continued a normal conversation. It got me in tears, such a perfect example of how cool and beautiful this character is, esp. considering it's freaking 80s! I live in the extremely homoph*bic country, so it's just... yeah, as a bi woman, I felt that ❤ Steve is amazing, the best current male tv-character for me.

I love it how the show is subtle that they are truly really great friends. From when Robin checked on Steve after Eddie had a broken bottle to his neck to Steve going after Robin when her heart got crushed seeing Vicki kissing a guy.

You can truly tell how much the kids love him just from the fact that Max (someone who doesn't open up or let people in easily) wrote him a letter because he means so much to her as he's the big brother she always wanted,plus she doesn't write any letters for Nancy,Robin or Eddie proving how much more he means to her as she only wrote them for those closest to her.

Love Steve, he might have been a jerk sometimes in season one but he was hardly evil, he was more like an average teenager. He broke the camera after a Jonathan took secret pictures of him and his girlfriend. In Ted Lasso Roy was a hero for doing the same thing. Steve was nice to Barb, he cleaned up the graffiti and was going to apologize to Nancy, even though she was hurt him. He may not have been a saint and he definitely got better but he was not that bad in the beginning.

@@sravyachanduri8864 yeah the thing with Jonathon and calling his whole family 'screw ups' was probably the crappiest thing about him in s1. I understood why he broke the camera and he even said something to Tommy and Carol whenever they ran their mouth about Jonathon, Barb, Nancy, etc. The typical "popular/ jock/ bully" would have went right along with them, and probably wouldn't have even "went for" someone like Nancy (nerdy/goody-goody) or invited her and Barb to his house, etc

i love steve and dustin's friendship. seeing as dustin doesnt have a father or a brother, that we know of, its good that he has a male role model to look up to. love their brotherly relationship

Its so fascinating to know that Steve was originally planned to be killed off at the end of Season 1 and instead they gave him one of the best character arcs in the series.

And it was by accident. The Duffer brothers really liked the actor, so it's why they kept him around, but apparently they didn't really have a plot for Dustin, so they decided to just stick Steve and Dustin together and little did they know they struck gold with the pairing.

@@FinnWallie Steve originally dying came from the Duffer brothers during an interview at comic con during the promotion for the 3rd season. The pairing of Dustin and Steve in the 2nd season came from an interview with the actors where Gaten was quoted "they didn't know where to put us so they just wrote a bizarre plot line for the two of us and it worked".

@@spirittammyk It kings makes sense how things turned out this way. Since Dustin had no story, they paired him up with Steve and they have their own side missions. But those are all the best parts of the show.

i’ve always loved steve but the moment where robin comes out to him really solidified him as my favorite. confessing your feelings to a girl and her telling you she’s a lesbian in response seems like the sort of thing you’d need to process either way, especially considering that it was a much less accepting time, but he immediately noticed how nervous robin was and put her at ease by going back to their regular banter and mocking her taste in women. as a queer girl myself, that’s pretty much the best possible response i could get, especially from my friends

Even in S1, he is barely a bad person. Far from hated in my mind. His actions can be completely justified. Of course he was upset at Jonathan. He was taking pictures of Nancy undressing! Even after he realized he had overstepped, he made it right. From then on he just got better and better.

My absolute favourite Steve moment was when he was nothing but supportive of Robin after she came out to him. Especially given that it's the 80's, and she was uncertain about how he would react. Luckily, Steve came through, and keeps her secret. ❣️

I love all his interactions with the kids. He consistently steps up to help and protect them. I love when a bunch of the kids show up to his workplace in season 3 and Robin says "Hey Dingus, your children are here" 😄

I'm glad the writers made Steve into the character he ended up becoming. He was such a arrogant jerk in that first season, but he ended up becoming an actual buff who's genuine and likable in their party.

Steve is my favourite character. I really wish every season that they don't kill him. And that he gets his "Happy ending" at the final season. Even if it's not with Nancy.

I would have had a hard chat with him and give him a final warning. If he did it again I would call the police as I'm pretty sure it is illegal to take pictures of someone without their permission.

Don’t know why but I always loved the scene where he greets Dustin in S3. Their friendship is so lovable and likeable

The demo-bat scene in season 4. When he ripped the bat in half, spat out blood. That moment can only topped with a one liner: "Im still the king..."

My favorite moment was whenever he came in to fight the monster in season one and when he beat up Billy

The way Steve was happy for Robin when she finally got the girl was amazing. I love how supportive he was and was able to be a true friend.

My fave Steve moment from S4 is where he takes his top off before he dives in the lake and Max grabs the binoculars from Lucas to take a closer look 👀... pretty much summing up how most of us felt watching it 😍😂

I came to love him because of his reckless rush into danger to rescue his younger Hawkins kids. He's actually FEARLESS!

I'm a bit disappointed that my favorite moments of Steve weren't even in the honorable mentions.... Steve wiping the writings on theatre.. and Steve saying "It's okay Nance... " this breaks my heart every time

The character of Steve Harrington is definitely one reason I like the show as much as I do. Would love to see what else Joe Keery does after this as he is a very enjoyable actor to watch.

Gotta agree with the #1 spot, babysitter Steve is the reason we all fell in love with him I think (or, at least, a big reason why)

If Steve had died I would have rioted. He had the best character development of anyone in the entire series. As far as who he is as a person, he's also one of the kindest and most open-minded.

I think season 2 ending shows how Steve and Nancy are meant to be together by Steve helping Dustin with his hair and driving him and giving him advice and with it ending with Nancy dancing with Dustin after he gets turned down to help with his confidence. I think it foreshadows they will end up together.

I love Steve! He’s one of my favorite characters! I love Steve being the best babysitter, his friendship with Dustin and Robin and when he talks about his hair!

I’m so glad they didn’t go with the original plan and make him a typical, rich 80’s jock. Such a great character. I was so afraid he was gonna be toast at the end of the season.

World’s Best Babysitter isn’t just a punchline, it’s facts - he absolutely loves his people

I love that Steve really wants to be a dad. However, I hope the writers don’t break up Nancy and Johnathon so Steve can have that dream with Nancy. Steve and Nancy had their chance to be together and it’s gone.

Steve Harrington might be the most misunderstood characters on the show. I honestly thought he was a jerk at first but he was just manipulated by bad people. I think he’s going to have an all time memorable moment on the last season of Stranger Things because he deserves better.

And it's also relatable too, having to be around bad influences at a young age and showing the true colors once you break away from them.

there is no one who went through more growth from s1 to s4 than steve at least to me it's why he is my favorite character on the show

Steve being mad at Jonathan for stalking them taking pictures without consent doesn’t make him a dick. And breaking his camera is genuinely better than calling the cops so I don’t know wtf peoples problem with that is. If Jonathan got those charges he’d be shunned in town the rest of his life. Jonathan was being a total creep I have no idea how people sympathized with him

OA Steve Harrington reminds me now of a similarity of Steve Winchell from The OA who was a bully but then ended up being nice to BBA, OA and the Boys. ☺️☺️☺️☺️

The Dustin and Steve Reunion at the Scoops will forever be one of my favorite scenes in any show.

I absolutely hated Steve! He reminded me of some really crummy guys I went to school with. Right up until he got into the fight to defend Nancy and Jonathan and helped clean the graffiti. Now he's my favorite character.

Definitely one of his best s1 moves was realizing his “friends” were horrible and toxic and dropping them.

" Dude, you did it! You won a fight! " Damn Dustin that's savage 🤣

Imagine if Steve and Nancy end up together. Best. Parents. Ever. Also, the kids would probably be badass!

Steve Harrington is my absolute favourite character! He could've been a total douche, seeing how he was in Season 1 but they decided to give him a total redemption ark which I adore. They could've done it with Billy, Max's stepbrother, but he died before he had the chance to redeem himself.

I'm glad Billy didnt get a redemption arc or else it may have messed with Max's confession. Billy was kind of awful. Yeah he was dealt a real bad hand but he was racist, misogynistic and abusive. I like that they focused more on Max's torn feelings in how she was grieving him than him having the whole Steve redemption song and dance.

I loved it when Steve replaced Jonathan's camera and let's Nancy basically have the credit and although I thought Steve was quite mean for breaking the camera to begin with he did think Jonathan was being a pervert towards Nancy so his actions were kinda justified there because he was protecting his girlfriend I'm just glad he really is a good character after all

I am so so glad they didn’t make Steve a “Red shirt” (Star Trek reference for somebody who’s gunna die) and decided to further develop his character into one of the greatest arcs I can think of. If I had to narrow it down to just one top pick out of everybody (which isn’t an easy task) I’d have to go with Steve.

It's curious but always when I see Barb's parents (0:17), I'm reminded of the Dursley's from Harry Potter. They almost look exactly the same. Coincidence?

Steve’s character arch is so good that I forgot that I didn’t like him for a short period. His friendship with Dustin is my favorite ship

I know its a top 10 but I want to be clear there's more than just 10. Basically anytime hes on screen. Haha

11:08 - I feel like this is where Steve really showed his true colours. He certainly wasn't a complete jerk in season 1, and I thought it was evident that he cared for Nancy. But he did do a few crummy things and his character could have gone in either direction. When he comes back to help Nancy - even though he's pretty freaked-out and knows he could die - that's when he shows who he really is. Lol, I actually thought Steve would die in season 2. Once, when the multiple demegorgons attacked and later when he and the boys set fire to the underworld. I was certain he wasn't going to make it out alive, I thought he'd completed his character arc and there'd be no more story for him. Boy, was I ever wrong! (And really glad to be wrong!)

My favorite Steve scene is the "bat flip"....and before that...when he's at his car and sees the house lights flickering like crazy. The look on his face was like, "Oh crap. Now I have to go save these guys?"

I didn't remembered that the cam was a gift from Steve... I just finished season 4, at this point everyone loves this character, this guy is amazing

I even liked him in season one and i kinda understood what steve did in season one,he wanted to protect nancy but overreacted,and when he saw Jonathan in her bedroom he thought she is cheating on him and then let his friends spray the insults to Nancy and Jonathan,and many people still call him a bully in season one,but he was never a bully,he didn't bully anyone,and the thing with Jonathan was for a reason.But since season 2 Steve is and will always be the best character on the show.

Steve & Dustin are my favorite duo. Gotta love Steve. I think Nancy & him may get back together ❤

Honorable mention: gets jealous of Eddie being friends with Dustin 🤣👌🏼 We love you mom Steve ❣️❣️❣️

The first time I started watching this show, the moment I saw Steve Harrington, I fell in love this character. ❤From a douche to a down to earth, sweet, funny, smart, gorgeous guy with luscious hair who became best babysitter/single mom & we couldn't have him any other way. Omg!

Steve chemistry with the kids is the best and is evidently visible when he had interviews along with Dustin (Gaten). While everyone in strangers thing has understood how good he is, I would love to see him bond well with Jonathan in season 5. I would hate to see him die rather anyone in season 5.

I wanna see a spinoff of Steve with Robin, having them deal with other nasty things after their experience with the show and having more friendship together.
