Best part of Disneyland and California Adventure is that they are right across from each other making it so easy to go between and now that Downtown Disney is also inside the security, it makes the reports very easy.

I'm so glad that I live near so many good parks with knotts being by home park
Disney partnered with a fundraising campaign I participated in a few years ago. If you raised enough money, you got to go to the after hours event at DCA. It was basically 3 hours of ERT at the whole park with a special showing of worlds of color. Best park visit ever!
This is a great topic. Well done as always sir. My personal Top 10: 1) DL 2) DCA 3) USH 4) Knotts 5) SeaWorld SD 6) 6FMM 7) 6FDK 8) CGA 9) LEGOLAND SD 10) Gilroy Gardens Honorable Mentions: Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk Belmont Park Pacific Park SD Zoo
Ok, I agree with Discovery Kingdom. It is so unique and has so many things you normally don’t see at a six flags park. But DCA over Disneyland? Wow, I had one of worst days at a theme park at DCA. While Radiator Springs is outstanding, it has such a confusing overall theme of a park. They need to add more to that park and overhaul some of those areas because right now it’s a complete mess. Also I think it needs a name change like Walt Disney Studios in Paris to show that’s it’s a Disney Adventure rather than a California Adventure because nothing about that park screams California except the entrance plaza/land.
@ThePirateprincess23
15 күн бұрын
When the park first opened, it was all about California and not too many IPs. Hollywood Land (formally Hollywood Pictures Backlot) is modeled after Hollywood, CA while Buena Vista Street (which replaced the least themed land Sunshine Plaza in 2012) is modeled after 1920s Los Angeles, Grizzly Peak is modeled after California's national parks, and Pixar Pier (formally Paradise Pier) is modeled after the classic boardwalk amusement parks. As for Cars Land, you are supposed to feel like you are walking right into the Cars films (more specifically the first movie, though you do get to see Cruz Ramirez from Cars 3 appear in the land from time to time).
Magic Mountain and Knott's Berry Farm are the 2 best in my eyes
My personal top 3 amusement parks in California that I want to go to: 1. Knott's Berry Farm 2. California's Great America 3. Six Flags Magic Mountain (Yes, I've already been to Disney, and I so miss the Guardians Of The Galaxy Ride there)

Don’t forget universal
Perfect ranking for the most part; I'd swap Knotts over Disney Cali Adventure because I'm a history geek and the back of the park gives off major Silver Dollar City/Dollywood Vibes. SFMM is definitely a Bucket List Park for any coaster fetishist and rightfully so.
Great video as always, Chris! I've also been able to get to every legit park in the state over the years, as an Oregonian relying on California to get my coaster fix. My top 10 would be: 1. Six Flags Magic Mountain 2. Knott's Berry Farm 3. Disneyland 4. California's Great America 5. Six Flags Discovery Kingdom 6. Universal Studios Hollywood 7. Disney California Adventure 8. SeaWorld San Diego 9. Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk 10. Legoland After those, probably Gilroy Gardens, Adventure City, Belmont Park, Castle Park, and Pacific Park to round out the top 15. Beyond that you really just have smaller parks, FECs, farms, and mountain coasters.
Belmont park should get another coaster like an SBF Visa Spinning Coaster
Man I get it that this is a coaster channel of course but even as a coaster fan I think Disneyland is possibly the best overall collection of attractions in the world. Its a true 2 day park with something for everyone and some all time top rides.

Many of these parks are not theme parks, they are amusement parks. There is a difference. Disneyland, California Adventure, Knott's, SeaWorld, and LegoLand are all theme parks. The others are amusement parks. Nothing wrong with that. This list seems very centered on coasters that are lightly themed at best. Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, Big Thunder Mountain, etc all are heavily themed. That is the purpose of a theme park. Six Flags coasters are named after some DC characters with some signage and not much beyond that. An intense coaster that is themed is Velocicoaster at Islands of Adventure in Florida.

I agree. As a Florida resident I believe it’s the best theme park in the country. Literally has everything I can ask for a theme park except a high thrill coaster (which really isn’t that necessary honestly). The park is run so well that even busy the park allows you to do a ton of attractions, it’s open until midnight, has a range of classic to top modern dark rides, some great older coasters, beautifully themed lands, great food and an atmosphere unmatched by even the best of Disney World imo. I love coasters, but I’d take Disneyland 10x over the asphalt and operation nightmare Magic Mountain is.

Finally some DCA love
I prefer CGA over SFDK. The only real draw to SFDK for me is Joker. The only park I'm missing from this list is DCA; I haven't been to a Disney park since 1990. Finally got Knott's, Legoland, Seaworld, and Belmont Park just a couple weeks ago! I thought Silver Bullet was a top-tier invert. Nabbed Xcelerator as my 150th coaster!
i have always wanted to visit the parks in California. keep up the great work!!!!!
The DCA take is spot on! Both parks are amazing but I loved so much about DCA. Idk if I can put it over Knotts but I don’t get the hate for it now.
It's weird hearing my hometown of Redwood City mentioned anywhere on KZread but I love that it's a part of Discovery Kingdom's history!
I’ve been to over half of these parks. This video helps entertain me during a very long car ride to Pigeon Forge.
I pretty much marathoned Xcelerator and Hangtime when I visited knotts. Not the biggest fan of wooden coasters but I regret not getting a night ride on ghost rider. While I don’t see it as a top tear ride like many it’s by far the best operating wooden coaster I’ve ridden. Magic Mountain has the best coaster lineup and when the park is running at full strength it feels like there is to much to do.
Such a great video! I teared up a bit when you talked about our home park of Knotts. You really make it easy to fall in love with any of these… and with good cause!!!
Great video! I like your rankings in this video! I enjoyed watching!
I got whiplash seeing California Adventure as 2 when by then I'd expected it to not show up at all.
We're making our first theme park trip to California in less than a month. It's going to be short but sweet and hitting San Antonio on the way back for a few days. We've got Magic MTN, DCA, SWSD & Belmont Park on the docket. I wish we had time for Knott's and Universal but we simply don't.

I just recently went on a similar Cali trip, and I strongly, strongly encourage you to fit Knott’s in. It ended up being my favorite park of the trip, even above Magic Mountain. I can't ride the extreme rides no more, so my pick goes to the place with the best food with the best rides, Knott's. When I lived in Anaheim, as an AP holder DCA was a great place for date night! They used to have ElecTRONica and Mad T Party seasonal events, plus World of Color. I haven’t visited DLR since 2019 though and their paid Genie+ system makes all the lines longer. I won’t go back now unless it’s during a special ticketed event when fastpass/genie+ is unavailable.
Best ride in California tho is the bus trip to Shasta Caverns.
Bonfante gardens in Gilroy is pretty cool for the kiddos
California may be a theme park island, but it's pretty stacked nonetheless. I actually plan on going to my first out-of-state park in July, Lagoon in Utah (I've always been captivated by Cannibal and now I'm going for it). I've only been to the SoCal parks so if I were to rank my top five I think it'd be: 5. Universal Studios Hollywood (some great shows, fun rides, and continuing to expand, still have yet to visit the new Nintendo Land). 4. California Adventure (while I still view it as the lesser stepchild next to Disneyland, it's still a good park that's greatly improved over the years). 3. Knott's Berry Farm (a nice mix of coasters and great theming, especially the Old West look of Ghost Town, log ride and mine train). 2. Six Flags Magic Mountain (the theming is lacking but the impressive collection of coasters more than makes up for it). 1. Disneyland (may not have a lot of coasters but it has the most atmospheric and immersive theming of all the parks with an unmatched collection of dark rides. If I had to choose only thrills or only theming, it'd be theming so Disneyland wins by a mile there).
ive been to sea world, six flags discovery kingdom and cga

Flip 2 and 4 and I'm in agreement
I luckily got to go to magic mountain on a day the longest live was half an hour and most rides were walk on. Also Wonder Woman was the only closed ride.
Totalu agree with Magic Mountain as number one! Finally someone does not put Disneyland first.
At Legoland, Knight’s Tournament, the ride with the 5 different robotic arms, was what I would call a thrill ride on level five. It was very forceful, but fun at the same time. It’s a shame it closed down
Sorry I can’t put Discovery Kingdom over CGA
I’m definitely taking Disneyland over DCA, but respect for sticking to your guns.
Disney's California Adventure higher than Knott's? NOOOOOOOOOO!! DCA was a goofy concept from the start: a California-themed park in California and a good coaster with a *horrendous* name (at least "Incredicoaster" isn't a cheap pun). Knott's OTOH has lots of classic coasters, good grub, and it smells like boysenberries.
10:14 usual comment about how a California themed theme park was already in the California themed California
This list is wild. Magic Mountain offers a horrific experience outside of a stacked coaster lineup and is notoriously trashy. When I went it felt like Six Flags simply didn't care anymore, as I grow older I value quality over quantity and theme often outmatches thrills to me as it adds so much to an experience you will never replicate with a parking lot coaster. California Adventure is incredibly tacky and filled to the brim with a mishmash of IPs. Disneyland is probably the objective #1 pick, but I think that park also has glaring issues with crowd control, pricing, and their horrific lack of upkeep for areas not tied directly to IP. Knotts is a strong #2 either way, easily the most well rounded pick.
Very good state, potential top ten ish state for theme parks. Or it’s looking to be top ten soon
would like to see a FL video next!

I love Knotts and Magic Mountain. But I really can't put them on the same tier as Disneyland. The original Disneyland is just superb. Somehow, despite being the most famous theme park in world history, it isn't overrated as a theme park. Yes, if you are hoping for thrill rides they aren't on top. But as a park experience it's untouchable. The only American theme park I'd argue has a case for being on that same level is Islands of Adventure. Keep in mind, I am distinguishing between theme parks and amusement parks so it's really a matter of preference there.
I wanted to say I can understand where you’re coming from with Discovery Kingdom. I think with my visit i just don’t think i had a very good day and its got a terrible parking lot situation but i thought it’s better park than Sea World for sure i would still probably rank CGA over it slightly but idk haven’t been. I agree with Magic Mountain being in the top 3 but i think Disneyland is the best i just think it just got a quality collection of rides but i do understand where you’re coming from.
