I never heard of Dino, Desi and Billy. I also didn't think Tom Jones was a teen idol, but I was a child then, so I don't know. Ricky, Fabian, and Pat were. I guess the ladies may have been, too, but again, I was too young. Thanks for the clips.

RICK NELSON AND PAT BOONE WERE IN THEIR MID-TWENTIES GARY LEWIS WAS 21. NELSON HATED BEING CALLED RICKY, AND HIS ALBUM AND 45 RPM COVERS ALL BILLED HIM AS RICK NELSON AT THE TIME THIS WAS FILMED. HIS BIRTH NAME WAS ACTUALLY ERIC HILLIARD NELSON. Respectfully😊😊

Sadly, Dino Martin was killed in an accident during his stint in the CA Air Guard, he flew into a hill or mountain in clouds during training with his RIO in a F-4C Phantom II fighter Not sure if it's available still, but a model decal markings maker had a sheet of his aircraft with other 'Aircraft of the Stars' subjects, including Col. to Brigadier General James Stewart B-17G he piloted in WWII Europe.

"Billy" was Billy Hinsche, who was very close to the Beach Boys' circle and joined the BB touring band in the mid-70s. He died in 2021.

Dino Desi and Billy werent so famous, but Dino was Dean Martin son, probably thats why they where on the ed sullivan, but they where good

Pat Boone was my mom’s favorite when she was a teen in the 50’s and 60’s. She liked his clean-cut, conservative, Christian image. She told me that she was never crazy for Elvis.

Not exactly the video I would have made. Some on here were not considered teen idols and some who were teen idols were not placed in this video. If I were this channel, I would avoid highlight videos anyway as they really serve no purpose to those who follow this channel.

Well opinions are that. Ricky Nelson definitely was a teen idol. Leslie gore was for many so I don’t understand the comment. Oh they’re not his choice. Before his time I guess

Agreed. He did appear in British teen type magazines at first, but his popularity began to slip. By 1966, onward his image was retooled by his management and Jones became a crooner. Being a crooner changed the demographic of his audience and led to great success.

IF this was modern AGT then Wilson wins, Jones a close second and the Ricky/James combo get the green ribbon.

THE ONLY TRUE "TEEN IDOLS" IN THIS VIDEO ARE FABIAN FORTE, BRENDA LEE AND LESLEY GORE. I REALLY ENJOYED THIS MONTAGE OF VOCALISTS. ALL ARE STILL ALIVE EXCEPT FOR JACKIE WILSON AND RICK NELSON. (DIDN'T CHECK ON DINO, DESI AND BILLY). MY FAVORITE SONG WAS "FOOL NUMBER ONE" BY BRENDA MAY TARPLEY. LESLEY GORE HAD THE CLASSIC "FACE TO DIE FOR" IN HER TEENS. Actually, Pat Boone was a teen idol at the beginning of rock & roll in the mid-1950s. He was in all the popular teen magazines of the day.

@@terrencemccoy8219 a teen idol doesn't have to be a teenager. It's a performer that teenagers idolize. The Beatles when they first arrived in America were teen idols. Just look at the pre-teen and teenage girls that was screaming at them on the Ed Sullivan show.

The most beloved Teenage Idol 1956/57 a guy called Elvis Presley ... not a single TV Snip? Elvis was the most back in the 50's...ooops; sorry my bad The Beatles are still the greatest 🥱

some are lip syncing such as Ricky, Gary and the Dino bunch so it appears Ed let some get away with the old Lazy lip sync. for shame. might as well have cardboard cut outs of their images that we can stare at while the studio plays the song rather then see them for real flapping their mouth. It appears Ed on "Preferred" them to sing rather than Requiring" them to sing. Fortunately, most of them loved to sing and respected the audience and sang rather than lip synced on Ed's show. Those will be the ones that are remembered and appreciated.

good reminder that not all the music from the past was good....obviously Jackie Wilson...Brenda Lee...Tom Jones..are exceptions here...and i would feel remise if i dont mention the repulsive pat boone
