I like to PvP, and PvE. Usually wearing an Exo Suit nowadays. Unlocking it is easy with no cheats needed anymore, and usually on a server, official or unofficial, I'm not fussed. Single Player is great though, certainly with a guide for any platform be it xbox, ps4, ps5, pc, it's great. Sometimes play MTS, and usually post patch/update. But a survival game needs some community news and that's what I do, giving you the latest on events, small tribes, maybe even fast flyers and primitive plus, usually covering all maps from Island to Genesis Part 2. And one day. ARK 2!

To be fair about Dinopithecus taming, some monkeys do kill other families to become the Alpha of the pack, so what you do to tame them is what probably they'll do themselves to other packs

I hope ASA has more creatures with unique taming methods, maybe even adding unique taming methods to dinosaurs already in the game so that we don't know exactly what to do on day 1, throw a little curve ball

ASA is a officially a remaster, I doubt there's going to be much of a shake up in terms of changes to taming methods (apart from wild babies). They've however announced two extra DLC's after they remaster all the existing ones from ASE, and those might have some unique taming methods (plus the extra creatures they adding to existing maps through creature votes).

I absolutelly HATE these methods. I wish there was a config that you could turn on and allow every dino to be tranq > feeed > tame, hate being forced into a glitchy minigame to acquire a new dino. Well, that''s why I love modding, being able to play the game in your own terms is priceless.

You said the corpse feeding is a new mechanic but I would argue it's been around for a while with the otter and hesperornis... The concept of dragging the corpse is the same but it differs when you have to get on the carchar and Munch a bunch of creatures😊

The list can only include creatures who’ve made it to a final voting round for any map that didn’t win.

I feel like most Dino’s should have multiple ways to tame them but each type has a different efficiency. For example a parasaur could be ko’ed or passive but passive would be more efficient.

I love Carchar taming as it's one where there isn't a prerequisite thing you need to grind except having enough drag weight to carry the bodies, sometimes the requirements defeat the purpose of getting the tame. The Armaedron taming in Additional Creatures: Grand Hunt is also a unique and interesting mechanic but that's a mod.

Taming methods tier list time ! :P I'm a simple person, give me simple tames. Egg stealing is my favorite. I'm in favor of more of those, maybe with some new twists for variety's sake. Like, more stealth. Or maybe perform an action/mini-game before being able to retrieve the egg from the nest (unlocking something, or whatever). Or the nest is an enclosed space, like the big beaver dams. There could be ways to keep things fresh. I agree that raising the baby afterwards creates a bond. Plus the surprise of "what color is it gonna be" that you often have is fun :) Passively feeding peaceful tames (Ovis, Aberration shoulder pets, Moschops, Ichthyosaurus, etc.) is a good one, too. It's not too boring, you still have threats around to keep an eye on, but you come in with the right food, you give it, it's done. THERE. It's bad enough that on vanilla rates this can take so long. Roll Rats and Gachas are fine. Approach the thing, drop food, wait it out, do it all over again. Otter falls pretty much in the same category, get some fresh fish, go back and forth. Good stuff. Bloodsuckers and Desmodus are fine, too. Make me have something in my inventory, grab me, su-... aspire me, and we're done. If I feel fancy I bring a Moschops/Daeodon for better efficiency, but that's not a requirement. THAT's the stuff. As someone who tames Chalicotheriums like it's my day job, I'm also game for that (also works for Gigantopithecus). Walk up to from behind, don't anger it, give it one unit of food, step away, repeat. If angered, step away, survive and try again once it has calmed down. I'm fine with that, this is my jam. Equus, perfect. Pay attention to the timing, and you're done. Now that's what I'm talking about. The Andrew could be like that if I didn't feel it switches directions too briefly. I think a lot of passive tames would benefit from requiring more rare foods or something. Like cooking things other than kibble, finding rare resources, crafting an item maybe. The taming part would be simple but there would be a lot of steps before it. And. That's. It. ...EVERY tame that asks more of me is a chore :P On some days even Sinomas annoy me, good thing they're cute moederf*ckers. The Carchar... eh, depends ; on a good day maybe. If there's a lake nearby where I can kill fish we can talk, otherwise ugh. I tried taming a Carchar on Rag's highlands and I hated every single second of it, not enough creatures to kill. Stuff like the Shadowmane is so frustrating, I don't even tame them XD I almost tamed an Amargasaurus, once. I've done the Megachelon three times, tops. It's very simple : if you're gonna make it a chore, I'm gonna bypass it. I'm a PvE player, skipping an annoying tame and focusing on the ones I enjoy doesn't scare me. Come at me WildCard, I got nothing to lose :P I'm supposed to have fun in a videogame, that's where the line is. The minute it feels like homework, you lost me. PS : "small sauropod syndrome" XD

i think its a lil spicy, but thinking top ten bugs in ARK. we all love to hate them and hate to love em and hopefully they we can bid them farewell in ASA but things like from being stuck in reloading animation, shots not registering, passive tame feeding fiascos, falling through the mesh just to name a few, it could be a fun way to spread awareness of them and help others on how not to get too ARK'd by them.

  • @Reeal15

I love using the Immersive Taming mod as well. It's not as creative as the non-KO vanilla methods, but for a blanket approach to the majority of creatures that are KO-only tames in vanilla, I much prefer it's feeding mechanic. I like being able to take peaceful creatures...peacefully. And it makes more sense to earn the trust of carnivores instead of just tranq-ing them and then they magically decide to obey you.

A lot of those methods really make no sense. I understand egg stealing, that's how Conan Exiles does that too, with you stealing and raising the babies. I understand Reaper, Rhyneo and maybe Carchar methods as well. Horse taming is close to how it's actually done, but nobody feeds them during domestication riding. Meanwhile, Shadowmane, Hyena and Dinopithecus taming makes no sense. You feed Shadowmane while it can't see you... so while it appreciates the free fish, it wouldn't make a connection that it's this slow walking snack that just brought it. And knock-out taming is just... weird. I think there is a mod that completely changes the taming, Immersive Taming, I hope ASA does something similar. With stuff like partly tamed creatures becoming less aggressive towards you, it makes more sense. If it's almost at the stage of being your loyal pet, why is it just as aggressive as when you're a stranger?

Ok wildcard this is what I don't get rhino. You have to 🔪a male feed it to a tame and the female will leave her egg in the tame the baby is born. If you have to 🔪🔪🔪a female pot the egg in your tame and a male comes along bingo this is soooo bagsick so this comment don't get banned

People who vote for the shadowmane must be so lucky their tame doesn't randomly drop to 0 for no reason at all. Literally the one I hated the most.
