I could never be sold on Zutara. I personally think they feed negative qualities into each other and could never see Katara living and ruling happily in the fire nation, which she would have to do. Mai was born into that life and could do it for someone she loves, I feel like it would be torture to make Katara live in a nation that not only contributed to her mothers death but also so much pain and suffering. I don’t think Katara thinks all fire nation is bad I just think it would be hard having to sit in that throne room knowing what was planned there.
Grey DeLisle is one of the most prolific VAs out there, she’s been in dozens of projects I’ve seen and 10 times that many I haven’t. But I always hear Azula.
Something that was briefly touched on if you listen ciosely is that Katara was not named Katara in the unaired Pilot. Instead she would be named Kya, which was changed because there's a video game character by that name, the name was also recycled as both Katara's mother and her daughter's names. Before they settled on Katara, they proposed Kanna, which became the name of Gran-Gran. In short; every woman in Katara's family that we see on screen, outside of her grandaughters, has a name originally intended for her.

I mean in the Netflix version Momo is visually introduced perched on a peach tree and in Chinese mythology the Peaches of Immortality are grown by the Queen Mother of the West (Xiwangmu): once planted, the tree has leaves and blossoms once every 1000 years, fruit ripening once every 3000 years, & peach banquets by the immortals once every 6000 years

The guys who made this show deserves a medal. This series has crossed the boundaries of what it means to be a classic on the order of Super Mario Bros and SpongeBob. Not an easy feat.

Potentially the scariest thing from each season. Season 1: Ko the face stealer Season 2: Lake Laogai Season 3: Blood bending
Can't believe they considered making iroh betray zuko that would've had such a different impact than the show does today
9:46 #2 I've heard this before. I think this original plan got as far as the 2-part premiere. If you really look at Iroh in those first 2 episodes, he doesn't actually do anything nice. He's skeptical, laid back, even lazy in a comical way. And at the end of the 2-parter, he even joins Zuko in shooting a fireball at the Gaang- the ONLY violent act he does against the Gaang in the entire series. It's with the third episode that the creative team re-established Zuko and Iroh in the crucial, phenomenal roles they would play for the rest of the series.
It's very hard for me to see Iroh betraying Zuko. After all that they went through and what we ended up with was brilliant, I tell you, brilliant! Having Zuko side with his sister at the end of Book 2 was way better, then Zuko having mixed feeling afterwards. Because even in Book 3, we saw the struggle Zuko had to endure within himself. Also, I am very thankful that we didn't get killjoy serious Sokka that ended up being in the M Night movie version. Imagine where we would be if we didn't have Jack De Sena's voice telling us to "Drink Cactus Juice!"
Iroh betraying Zuko would've been heartbreaking
If they had Uncle iroh betrayed Zuko some fans would have definitely Rage Quit
What is the source on the original plan being Iroh would betray Zuko? Never seen that before and doubt the creators every seriously considered that
I enjoyed ot all except the moment you mentioned Korrah.
Live action could do the fourth season. It already inserted things from comics in the show.
I’m so glad they didn’t do the Iroh betrayal because I love his and Zukos bond ❤️ it’s probably one of the best relationships on the show and if he did betray him Zuko wouldn’t have anybody in his family that really cared about him apart from his Mum but I don’t know if she lived or not. So happy they do that and I’m also happy that they made Zuko because he’s one of the best characters on the show with an amazing character arc 😄😁
The is the best animation I’ll ever watch I still keep on watching over and over again 😊
The Iroh being evil idea is the worst one on the list! Unforgivable if they went down that road! How the cartoon would be so different if that were the case...

Laogai is the Chinese version of Stalin’s gulag system.
I wish we did get a season four and Azula got a redemption arc. But you know what would’ve been really cool? What is the one that helped Azula redeem herself turned out to be another Airbender?
I’m glad they didn’t change Iroh’s role. Everyone loves Uncle Iroh because of how grounded and a good influence he was.
11:22
It set netflix record because there was going to be a remake. If they knew creators were goin to leave, they wouldnt watch it Iroh zuko relationship is awesome
I wonder what made more long lasting damage, the movie or the Korra show??? They’re so close
Not sure if it’s canon, but I always assumed Longshot notched an arrow for a much darker reason. Jet was in a lot of pain, and knew he wasn’t going to make it. Obviously the show couldn’t imply that (if his death itself was censored) but it makes more sense than him and Smellerbee just sitting there while he dies in agony.
Its been almost 20 years and we're still talking about this series and this is an example of good writing. The only L the writers took is not making Zutura a thing 😭😭
