The removal of the gasoline scene from “Just One Bite” fucked with me so bad as a kid. I only saw the scene intact on tv once and then never again in subsequent viewings. I’d talk to my brother about the scene and he never had any idea what I was talking about. I started to think I was crazy remembering the bucket of gas with the metal claw dropping the match. Ironic that the removal of the scene was to prevent psychological duress in kids, but the removal itself caused that very thing in me.

Lexie Bradford When the Sam and Max comic was being adapted for tv, they were not allowed to have pistols so instead they had bazookas and flamethrowers, which still fit the brand of humor that Sam and Max were known for.

SpongeBob works so well because it takes the "adult cartoon" formula, sanitizes and doctors it for kids, and ends up with a unique formula that works for all ages. Most of us can relate to either SpongeBob or Squidward on some level.

15:22 I have a feeling this actually has to do with the psychological effects of 9/11. I was five when the attacks happened and although I was thousands of miles from them and barely knew what happened, it was still a very traumatizing event that I, like many Americans who were very young during that time, was deeply psychologically effected by. It's very likely that due to how soon after 9/11 the episode aired, the images of the explosion were reminiscent enough to the highly televised attacks that the show's very young audience reacted with fear and aversion upon seeing it. Everything was highly sensitive for a few subsequent years because of the attacks, with everyone constantly on edge and the entire country going through a sort of collective PTSD, so it makes sense that the scene would be pulled in order to spare children any more distress than they were already experiencing in a very strange, very scary post-9/11 world.

I think it's sad they don't allow kids to see many scenes anymore for unsubstantiated fears it could negatively effect kids. Kids are resilient, I watched many of these when they came out and I turned out fine and the kids locked in my basement all agree with me

I remember seeing the gas portion of the Krabby Patty Vault episode when it was first broadcasted. I swore it stayed on for reruns of the episode but I may be overthinking it.

With Procrastination, I remember his exercises and the imagining of his drivers license, however I don't remember seeing the car crash scene, I think it may have been replaced with something else? I'm from England so I don't know if it was edited different

I'll never forget Patrick giving Sandy a massage. I'll also never forget in The Fairly Odd Parents where Timmy goes back in time to prevent his dad from winning the trophy. When Timmy's Dad said "Ha, that is so rebellious. Guards, seize him." This was after Timmy said, "But you can't be happy all the time."

I think the reason they took out the gas scene from Just one Bite because unlike the fire scene in Procrastination, Squidward was badly hurt, and the fire had more of an explosion-like feeling. Kyle Campbell I agree, I would keep that scene as well and cut the scenes where Patrick vomits. I don’t even why he was vomiting.

16:00 Actually, Vincent Waller has confirmed that the removal of this scene in North American airings/releases is ultimately due to Nickelodeon just being against gags involving matches and gasoline.

For pretty much my entire childhood, I saw Procrastination with the scenes cut and didn’t think anything of it. Apparently, they brought the outdoors scene back in 2018.

The "pie" frame was probably because mermaid man mentioned "pie!" so it could have been a scene they felt would be unecessary.

Some unsaid theories for the gas explosion scene: - Nickelodeon didn't want kids to think the Krusty Krab got destroyed. - Squidward coming back perfectly fine after didn't make sense. - Beavis and Butthead had also gotten in trouble for the fire thing.

I can understand explanation 3. But 1 and 2 makes zero sense as cartoon logic would easily let something like that go.

"lewd" is in the eyes of the beholder, I suppose. But all Patrick did was rub her shoulders with a happily dumb look on his face. Also, in regards to Sandy herself---she almost ALWAYS had a bikini on when not in her divesuit. You could argue that's it's rare for her to be outside the treedome without her divesuit, but that's neither here nor there. And her face---there's plenty of less expressive animation in cartoons. Could have been an oversight, could've just been less vital for Sandy to really do anything in those few seconds. Who knows? Also, maybe SpongeBob's nose calisthenics were too phallic? [shrug] Once again, eye of the beholder, perspective, yadda, yadda... And how vague was the situation with the granny and Gary, and the "fate" of the previous snails? She was fattening Gary up, and the old picture of the snails cartoonishly(real word? 🤷‍♂️) tell him to run.

7:25 that’s always been my favorite episode. So it was pretty cool to me to find out my favorite episode has a replaced....item I guess. I kinda laughed when you said it was supposed to be an axe cause it would have been funny to see a lady just casually prancing with an axe chasing a poor snail 😂 like do the people on the sidewalk even notice this stuff?!

I think snails are a mix of dog and cats, showing by Gary's traits during the series. somtimes he does dog tricks, mostly he says meow though.. im so confused to this day..

i’ve been thinking about the cut out part of the procrastination episode for YEARS!! i was like i KNOW there used to be more but i was thinking maybe i was wrong but this video just confirmed it 🙌🏾🙌🏾

When "Truth or Square" was released in Finland, majority of Patchy scenes were deleted to make the episode shorter. I was surprised by watching our DVD release, because I watched it in English from online first.

The Season 2 DVD showed Procrastination uncensored. I've watched it so many times as a kid and I never knew those scenes were removed. They never stuck out to me as weird or offensive.

Sometimes the cuts are reasonable and even needed. I still cannot believe that no one thought to check to see if the Drag Racer survived the crash. Should have been checked when they were getting the rights to use the footage.

I think the whole joke they had going with the scene still would've been funny if it wasn't for the unnecessary detail of Squidward's toenail getting ripped off.

Holy canoli i remeber as a kid watching procrastination and the scene with the carnival and patrick and sandy being in and in later years being removed. For all these years i thought i was nuts and made up that part in my head but it does it exist!
