I hear what you say about genres but I think it's often helpful to define and categorise music in the same way we do with art, cinema, literature etc. Connections and links between music help us to understand and appreciate what the artist is doing and where the music comes from. Enough said. More beautiful vinyl and another great top ten. Thanks Malcolm.

Hi, i love soul music, at last someone who talk about it! sometimes it's difficult to decide if an album falls into this category. are Terry Callier albums considered to be soul? I love them Isaac Hayes is great too, i like Al Green " Call me" a lot, Curtis Mayfield "Roots" is such a great album! Stevie Wonder albums should have a separate top 10! at least 5 gems

Alphabetical order? Bloody minefield! Didn’t someone once deploy ‘the definite article’ in attempt to bring some order to this potentially insurmountable challenge? Limited success, I’m told, but the advantage of being more easily achievable thus leaving additional time for less insanity-inducing passtimes.
