In general I would say BÖC is the most underrated rock band ever. There is a very special kind of atmosphere in their music. Some of my favorite songs are Nosferatu, Veteran of the psychic wars (live'81), Then came the last days of may (live'75), I love the night and Astronomy.

I don't think they are underrated at all. Those who like them LOVE them (me included) I consider them the unintentional "Grandfathers of Goth". Always loved the fact that every song wasn't "come back baby" or "I'm Lonely"....

I'm a bit of a younger guy so I didn't grow up with these guys besides the hits that everyone knows. I started getting into classic rock and dove into Zeppelin and Sabbath and a few others and then, on youtube, I got recommended a video that simply read Veteran of the Psychic Wars: Heavy Metal. I clicked on it and had the Oyster Boys come swimming for me.

One of their best ballad type songs, if anyone can say they ever had a ballad; understand though, stating it's ballad type in NO NO WAY means it's not good. Nothing could be further than the truth; it definitely would be in my top 10!! It's an awesome song and has one of those memorable guitar solos, to boot!!!

Awesome list mate. It's really hard to fit top 10 songs from them in a list. 1. Astronomy 2. Flaming telepaths 3. Fire of unknown origin 4. Then came the last days of May 5. Take me away 6. Dominance and Submission 7. Harvest moon 8. Soul survivor 9. Hot rails to hell 10. Dancin' in the Ruins The drum work in Astronomy is phenomenal. I always listen to Metallica's version back to back with BOC's. Metallica's drums sound so flat in front of BOC's. I have left a few popular tunes out because they might be on every list. Dancin' is the Ruins is such an underrated song. It's beautifully built song, just very pop for a lot of people. Honorable mention - Veteran of Psychic wars, I love the night.

Burnin For You is their undisputed masterpiece, and for good reason. It's subjective to what you like of course. They had 4 top charters through the years; Burnin For You being one of them. Shooting Shark, In Thee and of course: (don't fear) The Reaper. I'd throw in for a top list of suggestions in addition: •Astronomy (the Imaginos version) •The Siege and Investiture of Baron Von Frankenstein's Castle at Wiessaria •This Ain't the Summer of Love •Veteran of the Psychic Wars (ETL version) •Mirrors •Blue Oyster Cult (Imaginos Subhuman version) There's so many to mention.

Perfect top ten. I first heard them at a party in 1974, the song was Dominance and Submission. The next day, I went to the record store but for the life of me, I couldn't remember the name of the song! So, I bought "On Your Feet or On Your Knees". I was completely blown away and started exploring more of their work. BOC has an intellect, a sound, incredible technical skill and an attitude that never stops. Seen them live in arenas, stadiums, small clubs and dinner theaters. They fucking rock. Their live performances far outshine their studio art. Still a BIG fan after all this time.

Vengeance (the pact) - man I love that song, should have been in the movie Heavy Metal as it was written I Love the Night - really beautiful song, a precursor to After Dark, another great Astronomy - it's just brilliant Flaming Telepaths - the transition from Harvester of Eyes is awesome....Great lyrics In Thee - came out of nowhere and it's wonderful change Joan Crawford - a mixer's dream It's really a toss up between Fire, Spectres, and Secret Treaties.......they are the staples and really hard to say what's best.

I first heard "the Subhuman" on the album (cassette) of "on your feet or on your knees" and after about 3-4 beers back in the day it was memorizing. Bucks guitar stood out like a sore thumb in this version. When I was in a Napa State Hospital for 6 1/2 years for a felony conviction and pleading out for "Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity" I would listen to "The Subhuman" a lot and that song would boost my spirits in that shitty situation. I am very happy to see someone give credit to this great band, and as much I thank you for this video. I just decided to listen to "On your Feet or on Your Knees" on my PC - "I know Lucifer so well I can call him by hist first name".

Glad to see that some of my other favorites like Veteran of Psychic Wars and Black Blade were in there.Harvester of Eyes and Flaming Telepaths are favorites of mine and I Love the Night is maybe my favorite ballad from the band. It took me years to get into B.O.C. I wasn't much of a fan when I was younger.I bought Secret Treaties in a used record store and was hooked. “ Eye of the Hurricane” off of Curse of the Hidden Mirror ;) Lol, I had to throw that one in :). We wrote that and another tune on that album when BÖC had a few days off. Eric flew out to Phoenix for a couple of days and Don (Buck) did a great job pulling it all together. John Shirley wrote the lyrics on those two. Eric & I cranked out the tune and Don polished it. Bobbie did a slammin job on the drums on that as well. Alan always strong and Danny is still with the touring band often. Ritchie and Danny can be seen on Band Geek together - great you tube channel. 🎸

I'm glad you gave an HM to "Then Came the Last Days of May". That song saved my ass. I forgot that I had a book report due and my English teacher was a be-otch. I was reminded of the report in lunch period and English was my next class. So I quickly wrote up the plot line as per the lyrics of the song. The main characters were, Buck Dharma, Eric Bloom and Albert Bouchard. I listed the author as Glenn Roeser and said it was published by Random House and just made up a RH catalog number and the title of the book was of course, "Then Came The Last Days of May". Thankfully, this was 1975 and there was no internet where she could quickly fact check me. I Got an "A" on that report. (pumping my fist). My first BOC concert was New Years Eve 1975/1976 at the Nassau Coliseum in Hempstead, Long Island. The line up was was some poor guy on an acoustic that opened and left after his second song because he was being pelted by lit cigarette butts and half eaten hot dogs. Then the line up was Leslie West's Wild West Show, Blue Oyster Cult and KISS was the headliner. A great way to ring in the new year.
