    I loved that you touched the tips about the test cutting.. I would like to add the alwaays save scraps of the same color for just doing test cuts.. aslo I wanted to mention that all colors of the oracal 651 vinyles differ in thickness and so you test cut for each color.. take notes of good successful cuts.. like what force, speed, and blade dept. put it on a postanote and stick it on each roll

    Hi Becky. You are definitely the best on this channel when it comes to teaching. You are calm and objective. I often scroll away, perhaps too many episodes because that person is loud, stressful and does not have the ability to capture my interest. I'm brand new to this world. I'm still standing and doubting which machine to buy. I love to create, make nice cards and also do other things. After listening to you in several episodes, I have decided on a Cricut maker 3. It's your merit. I hope to see you more in the future precisely because of your personality and incredibly good ability to teach. Thanks Becky!

    Thank you so much for your honest opinions! I have had Cricuts for a few years but I really wanted to try a cameo for multiple reasons (design space issues but mostly curiosity, tbh). My cameo 4 arrived yesterday and I had watched your unboxing video when I ordered it. I decided to copy you and do a decal. The first two attempts were impossible to weed (second cut, I adjusted the cut from 1-3) and then I finally selected cut twice. That helped but cut a little too much so I was weeding half pieces of the backing off of some of the letters. I'm definitely going to try a ratchet blade!

    a little about the weeding tools. although I have the cameo i do love the circit weed tool, and also I have made my own weel tools by getting wood dowel rod, cut to aout 4 to 6 inches in length. then go to the sewing section of walmart and get some big marine canvas needles, drill a small hole and then press the needle into it.. another weeding tool i like to use is a exacto blade by friskers. nice grip and it sometimes helps to make your own weed lines between words

    Very helpful tips in one great video. 👍 Here are my 5 cents: Do not use JPEGs. These are only useful for screens, e.g photos and/or graphics with a background, scaling is a nuisance and edges are pixelated. Use vector graphics only (PNG*, EPS, SVG etc.), which you can scale up or down without losing any quality. (*)PNG is a bit limited

And being that it’s an older machine, finding the answers haven’t always been easy for me!! I’m not new to Silhouette but I’m not a PRO either!! Just playing around with the things and listening to many of yall who are so kind enough to help ppl like myself- giving details and how tos!! Much appreciated!!! Thanks for your help!!! This video was the best comprehensive summary for a beginner I've ever seen. I have wanted to get a Silhouette and related software for a long time, but I felt ugg...this is going to be a hugh learning curve. Now I know the great content is available along with customers support. The ability to export designs is HUGH. In my opinion this is a game changer. As a "diehard" Cricut owner this is hard to admit. This is important when as creatives we use Adobe and other Graphics programs in our business.

    Silhouette Connect is a plug-in that allows you to cut from within Adobe Illustrator or CorelDraw. Also Sure Cuts A Lot 5 will send to a Silhouette directly. So there are other options. I mainly use Silhouette Studio Business Edition to create svg files that I can export to my embroidery software for digitising.

    First off, I absolutely love Design Bundles! I just got a machine, set it up and found your site. Great customer service help with quick response times! My question if for the Silhouette software upgrade. Does the business one mean you don't have to worry about copy rights and can use any of their designs on things you want to sell? Also, where do you find upgrades other than Silhouette. I am in Canada and have the Designers Plus as it was a gift with the machine.

  • @DesignBundles

    @DesignBundles

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hey Gemini! So glad you found use, we are happy to have you here! Regardless of the software, you'll always need to be conscious of copyrights and trademarks. The software won't give you any commercial use rights when it comes to designs, it only unlocks additional features to use with your machine. For upgrades, you can check Amazon and Swing Design, those are the two that I have purchased from before, but if you already have Designer Edition Plus, make sure you only purchase the DE Plus to BE upgrade. Hope this helps and good luck with your new machine! ---Becky

    I got my portrait 3 last week and because I have no vinyl at home I jumped in making shadow boxes. I wasn't aware those were even a thing! Bonus: you just need paper and a printer. Possibly even just paper and color stuff in later. I found a design for free in the silhouette shop. So I've been using that, testing different sizes and modifying shapes and stuff.

    I'm interested in using my Cameo 4 mostly for sticker making (die cut and kiss cut) and also begin playing with vinyl and card making... What bundle do you think would be worthwhile? Should I get the advanced blade one or is it smarter to get a basic bundle with vinyl but no extra blades? Thank you for your guidance!

  • @DesignBundles

    @DesignBundles

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hey there! I'm actually not a fan of bundles, I buy my machines as stand-alone purchases and then choose the accessories I need. A lot of times bundles are filled with things that you don't really need, if that makes any sense. Now blades, you can't really go wrong, blades are always good. I would recommend keeping an extra blade on hand, but you won't need any type of specialty blade for cutting stickers. Hope this helps! ---Becky

    Hey Ashlee! Congrats on the awesome gift! Yes, each machine has a few visual clues. The Cameo 1 has a screen and actual keys to input controls. The Cameo 2 has the same look and screen, but it's touchscreen instead of buttons. The Cameo 3 was the first to have a lid that covers the touchscreen also, so it is one solid piece across the top, and then the Cameo 4 has the roll-top. Hope this helps! ---Becky

  • @DesignBundles

    Hey Rebecca! Maybe you need to reduce the size of your offset? If you reduce the distance, it will bring the offset in closer and stop it from overlapping into the next sticker over. You might need to use the knife tool and separate the stickers though, if they are too close. I'm not sure what you mean by the fill pattern though? I'm happy to help, let me know how it's going. ---Becky

    Thank you, thank you for your tutorials!! Just set up my Cameo Plus and... the directional lights on the machine do not light up. • @DesignBundles

    Hey Karen, I have a few videos that you may find helpful. For the directional lights, you may need to load a cutting mat first before those light up, but I'm not certain, I'll have to look. The cutter across the back is your Crosscutter. I have a brief video talking about it, but I haven't mastered the exact setting needed, I just eject it a little by hand so that I know I'm not cutting into my design. kzread.info/dash/bejne/mKZlr7qkgr3QabA.html You can change some of the settings in the Preferences panel, including your design area, this may help you. kzread.info/dash/bejne/X4R2xcOLcaS7kc4.html Hope this helps! ---Becky
