Top 10 Short Fantasy Books You Can Read In A Day Or Two.

Ойын-сауық

Hi everyone! Today's video is about 10 amazing short fantasy books you can read in a day or two. Despite how much I love reading big fantasy books, short fantasy books are necessities as a palate cleanser and more. It is harder, for me, to find them. But they exist. Today, I will recommend 10 of them.
No novellas will be mentioned. All the books here are the first book of a series or a standalone novel. Let me know your recommendation on this topic! And your thoughts on these books!

Awesome list Petrik. I have grown more and more fond of shorter books. I love epic chonkers, but if an author can tell a compelling and tightly plotted story in less than 180k words, that is a talent in and of itself. For myself, I would add Sabriel and the rest of the Abhorsen Trilogy to your list. I thought they were excellent.

Thank you so much! I think a great and short fantasy book is precious. They rarely click with me, but as you said, if an author can tell a compelling story in a shorter frame, I'm all down for it! I haven't read Sabriel and the series, but I heard so many good things about it!

Thank you Petrik. You always motivate me to read more. Of course I would also recommend "Piranesi" by Susanna Clarke, and "Kindred" by Octavia E. Butler. Each can be read in one day. I read 8 of your 10 recs. I tried "Theft of Swords" by Michael J. Sulivan , but I don't think I am the target audience for the author. If not for Hoid, I would have read "Tress" long ago, but I had enough of him for a lifetime after "Yumi", such a lovely story, but everytime he interupted it I felt some violent impulses. 😂

Under 500 pages is short for me. I don't know what that would be in word count, that's too intangible for me. 700/800 pages is perfect. Though many of my favourites are over 1000 pages.

When working, looking after kids and managing a household finding time to read is not easy, and when you do find the time it’s hard not to fall asleep after reading 5 pages 😹I do love a chunky book but they can take months to finish and that does get daunting at times, so I really appreciate recommendations for shorter books. Thanks Petrik!

Do you mind me asking where you find the word count? I can't find it on goodreads, nor on my Kindle and google isn't much help either. I'd like to include such stats in my reading overview but unable to find a proper source. As for your list, enjoyed the War for the Rose Throne books but didn't like Priest of Bones too much. The similarities to Peaky Blinders were too glaring to overlook. Luckily the series comes into its own in the later books. Added Rob J Hayes to the TBR pile!

@PetrikLeo I've given up on giant tombs of Fantasy novels. I finished The Stone of Farewell and noticed the final book is so big it's split in two and just groaned. I may check it out on Audible some day. I've gone back to fiction and short stand alone science fiction. Will not stop watching your content though, Petrik. The passion is strong with you and I like supporting that.
