What makes the Aliens loader so epic is the backstory. It's basically a wearable forklift, not a battle suit. It's a resourceful short notice, best fit repurposing. Also, it has a gritty, near-future plausibility that the other futuristic fantasy suits lack.

What? How could anything beat Iron Man? I know it's all opinion based but still.

That's a mech. The difference is blurry but generally things this size are considered mechs. A suit is usually mostly hollow for you to fit in and has humanoid proportions, if slightly larger. Mechs are much bigger. Anyways, my take on it.

The amp suit from Avatar was designed and created by James Cameron the same James Cameron who designed the power loader from aliens because from what I heard James Cameron took a good reference of the power loader to create the amp suit

My favorite continues to be the "Bio-Suit" 7:19 from District 9. The design is so sweet because it's meant to be Alien Technology for use by Prawns. The Entire suit looks like a beefed up, mechanical version of a Prawn. The whole thing looks exceptionally photo realistic because the animators carefully took light readings from the actual locations.

Sorry, but what is the criterion for distinguishing between robot suits and giant robot?. In my personal opinion, the Amplified Mobility Platform and APU are sufficiently large to be considered mechs, besides its design is less humanoid and closer to a military vehicle.

Nah, I agree with the choice of the Power Loader: it was the first time any sort of mech suit had been used convincingly in a well done movie. It was a jaw dropper. I was a kid when I saw it in the theater. There was real cheering.

And this video suggests it's better than an armor that can fly, blast the shit out of anything, survive an atomic bomb, and even combine to other suits like the Hulkbuster to combat a being with regeneration and superstrength. That's not mentioning all the weapons it can have. Aliens can suck Iron Man's iron balls, that forklift doesn't even deserve a mention in this list.

When the Power Loader was revealed in Aliens it was a cinematic milestone. Built as a movable, full-scale prop, it still looks more "real" than so many of the newer CGI/morph fantasies. And what's not to love about a hum-drum work tool suddenly being pulled into duty to save the day? Excellent choice for #1.

5:45 I freakin love the movie Avatar cuz of the fighting and nature and that it shows what 2054 might look like......maybe,if people stop killing everything organic

I think it was the size factor; mechs/mecha are vastly different from exo-suits. The Avatar ones certainly count, as do the APUs from Matrix, due to their small size.

Doctor D0M3 - That's the reason why the Aliens' power suit deserves the first place: Is not CGI.

I'm pretty sure Ripley would of wanted any of the other suits on this list, especially Iron Man's suit.

The Powerloader from was my first idea when thinking about what is most iconic. So, Yes! I absolutly agree to the first place, but know that others have more features.

The arc-gun (which tears apart any lifeform). Magnetic field that keeps any kind of bullets and missiles. Missile launch system. 2 variants of automatic weapon systems (which minigun and small-calliber autocannon). And design. This should be the exact suit for destroying your enemy. The bio-suit from District 9 is the coolest one. It has weaknesses on the back-side (less armored), but using this one - gives you a great advantage in suppressing fire tactics or providing covering fire.

Alien's power loader scene gives me chills

And why were the Yagers not included? They are robotic exos, only difference is they're fucking huge

Jaegers weren't included the same reason Megazords, Gundams, Zoids, EVAs, MechWarriors, Voltron, and Transformers weren't: Exosuits are smaller and more personal to the wearer like a suit. All the aforementioned are gigantic mechs that its user PILOTS as oppose to wears to enhance their own natural abilities. Big difference.

+Laconic Gamer I was going to say that too! Because lets face it the Guyver is AWSOME!!! But then I remembered this is a list about ROBOT suits of which the Bio boosted armour is not. As it is in fact a biological lifeform which bonds to a host. But still it would kick the ass of almost all these other suits

You guys forgot about the guyver suit in Guyver and Guyver 2 Dark Hero. that suit was much cooler than a lot of the other suits on this list.

Pacific rim jaegers are giant robots were 2 people drift and see each others memory making them capable to move the giant robots

the guyver :) was pretty neat :D though arguably a biomechanical suit.

Ok the alien movie is a classic I will admit that, but lets think about this in terms of what they can do. The power loader is a suit meant for moving boxes and a few other menial tasks its a bipedal forklift essentially. In terms of user protection its completely open to the elements unfortunately the moment the Queen charged Ripley in Alien she could have easily impaled the Queen on accident, acid all over her, movie over. The Iron Man Suit can do everything the Power Loader can do while not being cumbersome or huge or slow. Than there are the other things the Iron Man Suit can do like fly, fire missiles, fire concentrated energy, operate in space with no danger towards the user and I am just talking about the Standard suit. Than there are the suits for infiltration, exploration, fighting on mostly equal grounds with an iconic green guy, a god of thunder, or a world destroying asshole.

+Mraldari Bahamut I agree with you but a couple things you said arent exactly true, the standard suit cannot operate in space, and the concentrated energy is actually just concussive force, albeit rediculousy dangerous and high powered concussive force.

+Mraldari Bahamut Meh, still a VERY strong argument and i totally agree with you on this, power loader sure is "classic" but in reality, no matter what you say is clunky and overall just shite, i wouldnt be suprised if i would be able to go toe to toe with it, just on my own, like jesus just walk around it and boom, done.

+Elijah Marsan Hell you don't even need to get behind the loader since the operator is almost 100% exposed, you could just throw anything hard lying around and seriously injure them.

How is the Iron man suit was beaten by a forklift suit?

My favorite suit......the CMC Model 600 exo-suit. Hand crafted for Jim Raynor and Heaven’s Devils complete with the C-14 Impaler gauss rifle. Badass shit.

Aren't Jaeger's suits are just bigger robot suits piloted by a human? Don't see why they couldn't be included. And Powerloader is great and all, but its still a glorified forklift for industrial usage. How did it managed to beat other combat suits like Iron Man, Avatar's AMP, Combat Jackets?

Would the MK VI armor from Forward Unto Dawn be acceptable? It is from a movie, even though it originated from the Halo Franchise.

This was early to mid 90's but I think I remember a movie with Amanda Bearse from married with children (Darcy) where she was in a giant robot suit fighting. I was young so I could be mistaken. Definitely no movies on imdb with her in a big robot suit

Technically 1. the suit from the starship troopers franchise that was in the honourable mentions is called project marauder and 2.who wasn't in starship troopers it wasn't introduced until starship troopers 3.

you missed the Guyver suit from the movie Guyver, its a bio boosted armor!

But...but the other suits could've killed the alien queen in like, 10 seconds.

im wondering if they call them mimics because they appear fluid, similar to a mimic's shape. when they are shown in the movie, they are constantly flickering, and never quite settle on one shape, likely leading to the name, if it is somewhat inaccurate.

The suit from the new predator movie also looks to be cool

The Jaegers in pacific rim are the same as the mech suits this review included only bigger and they would kick ass on all the other picks in this review ...COMBINED!

+Meta Patriot I think Iron man would beat the jagers based on the fact that they aren´t agile enough to hit him. Sure he wouldn´t do enough damage to take down a Jäger imediately, but he has enough arsenal to render one leg inoperative, making the Jäger immobile and pretty much useless.

Wow...... the piece of industrial machinery wins. The nostalgia is strong in that suit but it should *not* have been #1, Just about every other suit on this list would make ridiculously short work of it. If the list said Top 10 Most Iconic Ronotic Suits I wouldn't say a thing.. but a standard top ten? Nah.. that shit should be an HM.

To anybody who notes that biosuits are made of organic material, they are specialized suits used to simulate and sustain environmental conditions required for the survival of the wearer and to anyone else who nots that they are the same the MJOLNIR class ARMOR is not a mech suit, as a mech suit is an external giant mechanized robot that you are able to envelope yourself inside and control, there is a massive difference between battle armor and a mech suit

Imperial Knights are better. Why? Knights. Although Titan pilots can leave, the Knights actually do stuff out of the suit.

The amp suit is awesome!!!!!!😲

I have a nostalgic attachment to the lift loader suit from Aliens. It's clunky, it's old, it's impractical, but that's why it was so cool. It clunked, whirred and tromped around clumsily, but beat the "bitch" in the end, thanks to its toughness and kick ass pilot. I also like it because none of it is CGI. It was all practical effects and still holds up almost 30 years later. I'd say it even beats some of the washed out effects of today. So yeah, I like the loader better than Iron Man's suit. Tony Stark's suit may be that hot new Lamborghini, but the Loader is a classic. Edit: Just read some of these comments. Man, some people get so sore when their favorite isn't number one. Remember kids - it's fiction - all imaginary!
