I've been using a S4 Max for the past 4 months and just love it! Cleans like a charm, amazing AI and navigation, and never gets stuck anywhere, even within the maze of chair legs under the kitchen table.

I’d like to add I have the roomba s9+ which is now being replaced the by roborock s4. The navigation is superior as is the quietness. I also agree that I’ve had many more errors and issue with the roomba s9 vs the roborock. So far roomba has replaced the roomba twice; additionally they’ve also replaced the cleaning head module twice in attempts to quiet the device down. I was truly shocked at how much better the roborock s4 has been vs the roomba s9.

I can't stand Roomba's. I've owned a few. Yes, the self-empty bin is nice- but the navigation of the LIDAR system is by far the best. Don't have to leave the lights on at night. Love my S5 Max. (I wanted the mop feature) Welcome to the Roborock family!

*I run the m6 daily, and my floors look awesome🌼 **allabout.wiki/BoostIQ** I wet mop 2 days and dry sweep the rest of the days. When I first got it, I used the included disposable pads. I didn't like them--the dry pad has no depth so if it picks up a chunk of something, like dry cat food, then it pushes it around or drags it around the floor. The wet pad wasn't very absorbent so left streaks and wheel marks.*

Have had the S4 for a little over a week. So far, it has performed very well and the app is outstanding. Great battery life, large bin, awesome mapping, and returns to dock with no problems. I have mainly tile and hardwood floors with a couple of area rugs. Love the functionality of the app with no go zones, rooms, zone cleaning, etc. It’s a huge upgrade from out old 700 series roomba with random navigation and no mapping, app, etc.

I have w/w carpets but I want to get one of the newer versions with highest level of suction. Do I have to use the mop and pay for that ability if I dont want to? I wish they made one with the higher level of suction without a mop.

Roborocks are trash without it's lidar navigation and it's not even that much better. I actually miss my Roomba after I returned it. Never had an issue with Roomba getting stuck and the dual rollers are worth it alone.

S5 is the worst in turn of features. S5max, and S6 are better. Ecovacs deebot 920, 950, and 960 are way better than Roborock.

Here are the reasons not to buy Roborocks: 1) It cannot go through area rug with black border. Sensors identify it as the same as dropoff of a staircase. 2) It can only vacuum the entire floor each time. No partitioning of area to schedule vacuuming of different room at different day/time (only S4 and S6 have the feature to partition the map to different rooms/area). 3) It only support ONE map, so you cannot use it on different floors of the house. If you move it to another floor for vacuum, it will remap the entire floor and you will loss the map that was stored for the previous floor. 4) Mopping is a passive feature. The unit does not know the water tank is attached or not, so it will mop the hard surface as well as the carpet/area rug area unless you MANUALLY block off the carpet area in the app. 5) No proximity sensors in Roborocks, so it will bump into furniture constantly as it vacuum. 6) Xiaomi collects alot of data from the your roborocks, as well as requires personal info to use the app on your smartphone.

    1. May be true. Not sure I don't have a black rug. 2. You most definitely can partition rooms, add invisible walls, and add no mop zones. Schedule different room cleans, etc. This is true for all lidar roborock vacuums. 3. You are able to add multiple floors 4. S5max does know when your mop is on and you are able to adjust the water to your requirement. 5. It does have proximity sensors. However, from time to time it does still bump into walls. 6. I think every smart device collects your information.
