As a packers fan, even tho we lost that was one of the most amazing and greatest games I’ve ever watched between Rodgers and Warner. I also love love LOVE irony. The way that game ended was to me the greatest irony in nfl history. In a game in offensive fireworks where neither offense could be slowed down, that the defense is what won the game for the cardinals at the end. I still get shivers thinking about it. As a packers fan yes it was heartbreaking, as a football fan? IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!

Bernie Kosar would never be recognized by all the so-called geniuses who comment on the NFL as an excellent professional QB for a time, but he was very young and he masterfully guided Cleveland those years. The Browns lost 3/3 AFC title games to Cleveland in the 80s, and it’s a shame that the only name we still talk about from then is Elway. If BK and the Browns had managed to win just one of those two in 1986 and 1987, and they really should’ve won that second one, we NFL fans would regard Bernie in a better way than we do now...but just because they lost all those games to Denver doesn’t mean Bernie should be forgotten. Guy is a Competitor. Was a nice backup for Troy Aikman in Dallas, after his Cleveland days were over too...

I like that they have Young vs. Kelly from 1992 on the list.. and it's where it belongs at 10. BUT.. what should've been at least mentioned for 10 seconds.. was that the 2 QB's also had the greatest QB duel of all time in the USFL. Opening day 1985.. Kelly's Houston Gamblers at Young's Los Angeles Express in the L.A. Coliseum. Unfortunately for the USFL and their half-a$$ TV deal, the game wasn't televised live by ESPN or ABC. Kelly threw for 574 yards which is still the most in a single game of any pro football league. People can rip on the USFL all they want, that's fine.. but it had a good number of quality players who still speak highly of it to this day. They just didn't like the cheap owners. Some things never change.

No, I wouldn't put Mahomes/Goff on an updated version of this list and here's why: As great of a duel as that was, let's remind ourselves that three of the scores in that game came off of Defensive TD's. To be a great QB duel, it's gotta be two QB's consistently beating the defenses throughout the entire game, that's how it has to be to me.

It still gets me that their explanation of why Jim Kelly vs. Steve Young was only at #10 was because it ended on a missed field goal, or as they put it: "Because the outcome wasn't decided by a QB." Then they go down the list and: #6 (Dickey-Theismann) Ends on a missed field goal. #5 (Elway-Kosar) Ends on a running back fumble. #3 (Bradshaw-Staubach) Ends on a failed onside kick. #2 (Warner-Rodgers) Ends on a sack-fumble returned for a TD by the defense.

How could you not at least give honorable mention to the Epic in Miami between the Dolphins and the then San Diego Chargers? Both Dan Fouts and Don Strock, the latter off the bench no less, each threw for over 400 yards in the game. Of course that was one of the craziest games ever, with the hook and lateral by the Dolphins, blown field goals, including not one but two blocked kicks, and an incredible effort by Kellen Winslow for the victorious Chargers. Unforgettable to say the least.

Jackie Smith’s dropped pass did not cause Dallas to lose SB 13. There was 2:46 left in the THIRD quarter when Smith dropped Staubach’s pass. The Cowboys still got 3 points out of the drive with over a quarter left to play. Steelers put up another 14 points after that & would’ve tried to put up more instead of burning clock if Smith had caught the pass.

    R. William Comm Thank you for bringing that up. EVERY time that highlight is played.. and the radio call from Verne Lundquist is heard.. the impression is given that the pass would've won the game late or something, or "lost" it because of the drop. It was only 21-17 after Dallas made that FG with plenty of time left.

  • @r.williamcomm7693

Chris Swanson Exactly. It’s amazing how even sports media twists our sacred memories. Randy White jokingly said many times that in a way he was glad Smith got so much attention for dropping that pass because White had made so many mistakes in that game that he felt like Smith took all of the heat. Although I was a Steelers fan, Dallas was so classy that you had to admire them. Another memory twisted by media: the moniker “America’s Team” was never used until after this game when it was the title of the NFL Films Cowboys highlight reel for the 1978 season when they needed a title that was optimistic instead sounding in the Super Bowl defeat. It fit well even though it was their last Super Bowl until the end of the 1992 season. 😀

Gb vs Det. Jan 1, 2012. Flynn vs Stafford. 45-41. Flynn with TD pass with 1:10 left in game to put it away, this one definitely should've been on the list like what 🤯.... Flynn: 31-44/480 passing yards/6 passing tds/8 different receivers to catch a pass/4 different receivers to catch a td 1 wr over 150 yards, 2 more over 80 yards, and 2 more over 50 yards Top receiver (Jordy): 9 catches/162 yards/3 tds Stafford: 36-59/520 passing yards/5 tds/ 6 different receivers to catch a pass/all had 4+ catches/4 different receivers with a td/1 wr with 240 yards 🤯, 1 more over 110, 1 more over 60, and 1 with 45 Top receiver (Megatron): 11 catches/244 yards/1 TD #2 receiver (pettigrew): 7 catches/116 yards Easily one of the top 10 QB duels of all time only knock is there was no stakes other than the lions getting the 6 seed and having to play the saints, instead of getting the 5 seed and playing the giants. But other than like no real stakes, statistically one of the greatest games ever played, they combined for 11 tds, and 1000 yards passing 🤯🥵 no reason this shouldn't be on the list.

Here are 2 duels that may not be in the top 10, but there is definitely an argument. - Aaron Rodgers (Packers) Vs Ben Roethlisberger (Steelers) (2009 - Week 15). - Carson Palmer (Bengals) Vs Derek Anderson (Browns) (2007 - Week 2). The next 2 should’ve definitely been on here. How they aren’t is mind boggling, or even mentioned is unbelievable. - Norm Snead (Redskins) Vs Y.A. Tittle (Giants) (1962 - Week 7). - Both quarterbacks combined for 851 passing yards, and Y.A. Tittle had 505 of them. - Both quarterbacks combined for 11 passing TD’s, and Y.A. Tittle became the 4th quarterback of all time to pass for 7 TD’s in one game…IN 1962 FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. - Charley Johnson (Cardinals) Vs Billy Kilmer (Saints) (1969 - Week 7). - Both quarterbacks had over 340 passing yards, and each quarterback had 6 TD’s, AND THAT ISN’T ON THIS LIST? To be fair, both the Cardinals and Saints were very bad that year, but c’mon, that’s the only quarterback duel in NFL history where both quarterback threw for 6 TD’s.

Remember this was the FIRST Super Bowl that followed the Mel Blount Rule. Certainly had a huge effect on passing careers like Bradshaw, Staubavh, Fouts, Plunkett, Sipe, Jawirski and others

Fascinating detail from Packers/Redskins 1983: The game combined for 1000 yards of offense and 95 points. Green Bay only had the ball for a little over 20 minutes and still scored 47 points. Unreal.

Some people don't like Marino vs Ken O'Brien. I think if you included Quinn vs Stafford on the list its the same thing. If a fan casually can remember that game, and its not like a playoff game guaranteed to be showcased for the NFL world to see, its safe to say it stood the test of time. The fact that it does decades later and we're even debating where it resides on the list means its an all timer.

OBrien kept heating Marino and Eason taking the Patriots to the 85 Super Bowl made the Jets and Pars think that maybe it was ok that they passed on Marino. That idea didn't last long
